I was on a white Prophet, and my mate from Otley was on a black Bullet.
Have you got a link to the total photo site?

Great event, really enjoyed it. I just need to get over my fear of rock drops and steps.
I was No. 204. I think I eventually finished in 197th place, one place ahead of Sim.
    Stumpyjumper, what were you riding?

I was looking last week couldn’t find anything.
Just bought railled Bel Air instead from Merlin for £15 and used a normal post.

Poisonspider I thought the new sections weren’t being used for this year’s Enduro.

    Err, yeah a bit.

I’ve even bought a new bike to compensate for my lack of skill.

Paul, Rob has Talas 36s on his but no idea what the axle to crown length is, or whether he checked it’d be OK or not.

The olive and insert is only a couple of quid why not do it properly?

The one on my older Revelations is a tight fit and has stayed in place for 2.5 years.
The one on the Pikes I’ve just got is a loose fit so I’ve removed it.

Sounds good DBW, Fridays are doable for me with some planning.
Did you get over to Bingley/Harden/Cullingworth for a ride?

I’ve got coil 409 Pikes on my Prophet and the standard spring is fine for my weight, about 13 stone fully dressed and with Camelbak.
If the sag is way out then you’ll have to swap the spring.

Just set the rebound and away you go.

Might have to see if I can get a Monday afternoon off work, I’ll need to be back home for around 7pm though.
I’ve got Monday the 27th off but it’s the day after the Kielder Enduro so riding might be the last thing on my mind.

Mugboo, me and Chase keep meaning to get over the hill into Calderdale for a change of scenery, we’ll have to plan a trip, maybe one evening now the nights are lighter.

I could maybe find you some springs at work that will do the job or even make you some.
I’m off until a week on Monday though, so not much help if you’re in a hurry.

This was mine just after I’d built it.

I rode my medium pA for the best part of a year before admitting it was just too big for me.
I had a 60mm stem on it and in-line post and the reach was OK but there was not enough standover for me.
I find the 16″ 456 much better, it’s only slightly shorter in the TT but shorter seat tube and head tube mean it handles far better IME.
Oh, and with more seat post showing on the 456 it’s comfier too.

I have a mate who is around 5’10”, he rides a small PA and he loves it.

I’m 5’9″ and had a medium PA which was too big for me.
Now got a 16″ 456 which is just about perfect.

I don’t like the gopping green Cannondale decal

I don’t, but i’m sure I can get used to it, and when you’re riding you can’t see it anyway.
The 409 forks on the 2 are coil U-turns.
The rest of the spec is OK, but I’ve put my XT brakes, 70mm FSA stem, lock-on grips and Hope/XM719 wheels on from my old bike.

Just buy a new Prophet 2 and sell the bits you don’t want/need.
That’s what I’ve just done after waiting ages for the right secondhand Prophet/Five/Heckler without any success.

Got it from one of my LBSs for less than RRP which included swapping cranks to Truvativ OCT 2.2 and tyres to folding 60a Highrollers.

There’s a gang of us travelling up from Yorkshire, we’re staying on the edge of Kielder Water in a wooden chalet.

I generally only use steel Deore rings but I got the 24/36 Truvativ ones cheap with a bash guard.

Brant, I’ve changed the chainrings since I had CS problems, from Truvativ alu ones to Deore steel, as well as puting the indent in.
And I’ve lost the chain a couple of times (not CS just dropped off the granny) and the paint has chipped, so the painting could have been a pointless exercise. I probably need to shorten the chain and/or fit a short cage rear mech.

a g-clamp and some bits of wood would work. In fact I think that’s how Brant did his prototypes. “

That’s how I stopped the chain jamming on my 456.
Photo below was taken before I re-painted the chainstay, but shows the indent I put in with the g-clamp.

Giro Hex for general messing about in the woods and on the moors, and occasional trail centre stuff.

I found some vids of the DH on Vimeo, looks OK apart from the drop after the fire road, there was even a video of a guy riding it on a Holeshot.
I might just drop my saddle and give it a go, what could go wrong?

I got a Hope Bulb rear from Stif a couple of months ago as a Pro2 alternative, cost me around £65.

Here’s my Prophet, got it last weekend, so far it’s been a lot of fun.

I can fit two medium sized bikes in mine, with wheels on, sometimes have to wind the forks down depending on what bikes they are.
From experience larger bikes don’t go on with the wheels on.

    You’re gonna need something bigger.

Guilliano, here’s another one for you…….

    I’ve got an SL1.
Very floody beam. OK on the bars for slow to medium speed riding, I soon run out of light when going flat out downhill, so I combine it with a halogen helmet mounted spot.
    This combo works for me.
Battery life is good. I can do a 2 hour night ride and a 45 minute commute on one charge.
Lamp and mount are robust but one of the velcro straps on the battery has started to split in two.
Just weighed mine on the kitchen scales, 410g.
    HTH.

I think a certain northern frame designer went to my school, although he’s a few years older than me.

Rockshox seem to have improved their reputation over the last couple of years and now put their prices up.

If I was after some coil 140mm forks right now I’d go for Vanillas.

    Gone up to £349.99 now

I’ve entered with 8 or 9 mates, I’ve never done a race of that format before.
Should be good fun, we went for a recce ride at Kielder a couple of weeks ago, the trails are good, loads of rocks.

Still a good price if you’re happy with the standard spring.

Oh and the Vanillas continued to perform well with the wear, they just pissed oil out of the seal.
The Revs however are suffering from a fair bit of stiction, but I’m going to change the oil and see if that improves things.

Just for a bit of balance, I’ve worn out the left hand stanchion on Revelations and Vanillas in similar amount of time, about 18 months from new.
