Whilst working a few years ago, I nipped into a public toilet rather than drive to the test centre like I normally do as I was pushed for time and there was a bloke have a good old Barclays Bank in the corner near the urinals.

I turned straight round and left immediately.

On a more gormless note a few years back my mate, his wife and I spent a few days in a static caravan. The bloody thing was falling apart and I was not using the loo in that thing so I Waited till we left the caravan site.

Went into the nearest town, got some breakfast, blagged 20p off mates mrs for toilet, didn’t look at the sign proper and walked into find a urinal only.

Had to come out and blag another 20p off mates mrs to use another ” proper ” loo

    I’ve never lived that down….

Bolton to Preston using a combination of roads and Sustrans, round the Guild Wheel and then back the same way.

Took me 7 hours with a lunch stop at the docks with 4hrs 45 moving, a total of 56 miles – the furthest I’ve ever been in one ride ever…….

Dry and dusty though – feel absolutely tired out now and the Dog keeps looking at me to go for a walk……

    Superstar sinstered.

Tried organic, and like said previous, wore out in no time. Sinstered are fine.

+ 1 for Cat Eye build quality.

I’ve had a 660 ( I think ) attached to the Seatpost all winter and its had mud, road grit, and an untold amount of washing of the bike and its still fine.

Even froze solid one night when it was -5 and wouldn’t turn off till I’d got it in the house

Personally, I’ve had Smart lights fail and the switches go so they stay stuck on.

The oddest thing there is watching cars going about their daily business on the other side of the road. Bonkers.

Considering the route they took was the only road between England and Scotland up that side of the country at the time, its a wonder they didn’t get knocked off or cause havoc.

Mind you, whilst climbing Shap, they could have overtook some of the old trucks which used to struggle up the mountain

I wondered what the “chain device” was as well so I’ve just googled Osgear and apparently they required the rider to back pedal when changing gear.

Also found out that gears were banned in the Tour De France between 1919 and 1937 for the professional riders 8O

Mr Hall is the only one who I don’t feel surprised about, all the others surprised me, probably me being brought up in the era of them all being on TV regularly.

Stuart Hall always seemed arrogant to me, especially when he did the North West news and in his Lancashire Life column.

I find the Park multitool fits bike stuff better than any other.

I was changing the chainrings on my mates bike the other night using Halfords Pro Allen keys on a socket, and one bolt got stuck on the socket so I used the Park multitool to remove the rest and had no problems.

It’s literally over the road from the velodrome, on google maps its across Fairclough Street so you should be able to park at the velodrome but it would be easier on the bottom car park, not the one near Evans so go past McDs, straight ahead at the roundabout follow that road to the car park on the right.

You can’t miss it but follow the old viaduct and its right by that. In terms of the little ones, on the open day there was lots of kids on the pump track as it can be separated from the rest of the track so they don’t have to do the tabletops etc.

Like the others said it will have took a bit too much off the friction plate.

It does happen to me teaching learners every so often when they don’t do as you ask and it proper stinks.

Must have happened about half a dozen times in my last car, but I took it back with 70,000 on it on original clutch.

Reminds me of some guy the other morning when I was walking the dog. He was reversing into a unit in a sprinter or transporter and he had a trailer on with one of them mini diggers on. He was revving the engine wwaaayyyy to much and I could smell clutch as I walked past 8O

Took me about 15 mins to get there from Piccadilly cycling along the cycle path to the side of the stadium.

At piccadily, you can get a burger / sandwich etc in the concourse without having to lock your bike up so I would suggest going fom there.

It was defo motorbikes as it was the other Sunday when they opened the skills area and the people there said they had always had motorbikes on that area.

The trails do look good so I’m looking forward to heading down there when they are complete.

The skills track is really good bit of everything for all levels. The last tabletop is near vertical though 8O so take the first or second to start with, same with the rock gardens, the last is really aggressive the first 2 not bad.

I have had a look at the trails, but I was put off by the noise of crossers.

Just let it rip is what I say.

Surprisingly, I’m single  but my mates missus sends me into the yard when I fart and I will say sorry but my mate says ” no you’re not, if you was sorry you wouldn’t have done it”

I’m always getting shouted at about it but I agree with the earlier comment about the ladies finding it funny when they do it but offensive when guys do.

I actually couldn’t fart about a month ago and felt really ill.

For years I wondered how she was getting meat from hens

Had quite a few good mannered moves off motorists. On one of my regular routes, there is some of them priority give way build outs and loads have people have waited patiently whilst I’ve gone through when they could easily forced way through.

One recently when we had all that snow we had 5 – 6 foot drifts blocking one side of a narrow lane. Occasionally there was the odd bit to pull into treating it like a passing place and my mate and I pulled in to let a car behind pass and he gave a friendly beep beep and a flash of he hazards.

Yeah it’s defiantly a right of way as there are small signs from the council on the post the wire attaches to.

I don’t think for a minute its malicious, just a bit dangerous as there are no warning tapes or anything on it.

    No just left it.

Looks like its straight across the entrance he’d put the tractor through so, for want of a better phrase, a makeshift gate.

Just couldn’t see it as its on top of a slight incline and was just against the grey sky. Scared me a bit as I’d not seen it.

It’s just hooked over the fence posts both ends.

    simmy

Was it part of an electric fence?

No, it was hooked over the posts either end and just seemed to be a makeshift gate 8O

    Report his driving.

You say he’s driving recklessly through residential streets but not exceeding 30 mph so he could still be spoken to by the police for driving too fast for the conditions.

The council may be the next stop for the noise pollution, either that or let the police get vosa out to mot his car………

I’ve got some Five Ten Danny McAskill’s and they have awesome grip on my Vaults, but they were absolutely freezing in the cold weather, even with 2 pairs of socks on.

Regarding being waterproof obviously they can’t compare to Goretex stuff but they are not bad, but when they do get wet they can take ages to dry out.

I wear a pair of Five Ten basics as my everyday footwear, and they are so comfortable and I can nip out on the bike in them as well but they are like a canvas so wouldn’t use them if its wet or muddy out.

+1 for blackpool is a shithole. You won’t believe how many morbidly obese people on disability scooters smerking tabs & wearing cheap gold jewellery you will see in one day.
Despite my warnings, my wife took the kids to a waterpark there a couple of weeks back, then decided to take them for a stroll along the prom. She said she’d never seen so many people who were looked either close to death or like they’d just jumped over the wall at Strangeways. And she comes from Southend.

Go 300 yards inland and its like the casting for Jeremy Kyle.

I’ve been going Blackpool to my mates for at least 20 years and, if you know where to avoid, its not too bad.

But then again I know who the people to avoid are as well. All the glitz and glamour, to some extent, on the central bit, 300 yards inland needs major redevelopment.

I’ve took mine on the train a few times but had a horrible experience with Northern Rail last Sunday.

Only 2 carriages on the train, think they call them sprinters, so went to the rear and the guard told me to go to the front, no problem but no space for bikes at all on that train.

Most have space for bikes, but this just didn’t and I ended up squashed up against 2 other people who must have been either going to the airport or moving house by train with the amount of luggage they had, behind the drivers door with one poor bloke squashed up so tight against the wall he looked like he had someone’s hands against his throat

Hardly any space to even breathe and it reached the peak of awkwardness when they swapped drivers at Oxford road and the driver couldn’t get out of his cab for us all.

Bought a return initially but pedalled back not wanting to endure that again.

    Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

Get a cheap wristband off the website. Start on the Big Dipper, Grand National, Wild Mouse and then could move onto the Big One.

If the coasters aren’t for you, there’s loads to do in Blackpool, just don’t venture too far inland from Central Pier and you will be fine.

I’ve never been on a road bike, but hit 42mph on the MTB, that’s bending over the bars racer style but think the CamelBak probably slowed me down a bit.

That was on the road but it seems to be more scary to me on the road than off road, think it because I’d only just got back into biking when Wouther Weyland had that fatal accident at the Giro and it always sticks in my mind.

My mate once head butted a drystone wall up Rivington when he turned round to see what was behind, i wasn’t with him but how he made it through that was a miracle that was on the road as well and he was out of hospital the same day.

I’ve only been back riding about 3 years but I’ve only ever rode one FS which was a mates GT something and it felt weird.

I only potter so a HT is fine as I think a FS would make me do things I’m not capable of doing.

I’m 36 and never rode a bike from the age of 17 to 33

+ 1 for all the advice given.

In my experience, its only time that will help the pup feel more comfortable.

I’ve just got a Lab that’s an Ex cruelty case and he’s no social skills at all so he’s like every pup I’ve ever had, not toilet trained, scared of traffic etc only problem is he is 2 1/2, weighs nearly 30 kgs and has some real power, like yesterday when he pulled me over and left me with a grazed knee…….

Best part of the week in my opinion, live Stufive said, no one around.

I’ve just got a new dog who demands attention and is still training so he’s priority first thing otherwise, I’d load the CamelBak with some breakfast and go off for a ride and stop somewhere quiet and enjoy breakfast.
