Whatever happened yesterday in the sprint, to throw urine at someone is disgusting.

Of course they targeted Cav, its an individual TT with a car behind him, most probably with his name on the front of it.

Personnally, I think what happened in the sprint was one of them things which happen at that speed, I’ve not seen or heard anyone mention the fact that Tom whatshisname was looking under his left shoulder immediately before the incident.

Cav needs more support from OPQS as they seem to leave him without a lead out a lot. He said himself that gripell went too early I mean, how’s that happened when he should be looking after Cav ?

Not on this year.

I only watched last year on the Sunday but it looked like a good event.

Best part was the Air Ambulance landing whilst I was descending back to Poppies, threw some dust up !!!!!

Firstly this is a tragic incident.

I cycle on a 40 mph road on which I live and its really scary when LGVs pass.

Devon & Cornwall Police seem to think the best solution is for cyclists to stay off the A30

Kept saying tomorrow day after day. Never used them myself.

I buy about 5 x £1 scratch cards a week, rarely do I make money but I don’t drink or anything so spend my money on that.

A few times a year I will play roulette at the casino taking £40 only in, spending that and walking away when its gone. If I do win, £40 stays in my pocket and I will play the rest.

A while ago I was £50 up so legged it quick and went to the stripclub 8)

My mates Dad won 4.3 million on the lottery 13 years ago and gave my mate £500,000……..

He’s just downsized his house and got a job driving a taxi…….

My Fiesta has a Anti misfuel filler neck so it will only take Diesel. Works fine till the pumps are busy and you can’t do the old trick of stretching the pump over the “wrong” side as the spout only goes in straight.

Had the pump stuck a few times and panicked at first but needs lifting then pulling out.

I’ve put diesel in my old VW Polos but only a few quids worth and they just smoke a bit on tickover but they are old cars so no sensors to gunge up with the wrong fuel.

There one rom in my house that’s got a strange vibe about it and I use it as a junk room so its full of bike stuff but I hate being in there especially at night.

My grandad died of a cardiac about 2 ft away from where I am typing this but that doesn’t bother me as, infact, it makes me feel better in a strange way as I was only 8 months old when he went so I never knew him.

Would have loved to know him. One of the old guys in the local was grandads apprentice years ago and he always calls me Bob as I look just like him apparently.

Merlin have Royal Mail vans collecting around 4 pm every day, one of them 7.5 ton size ones I think.

Seen UPS there as well.

Hence why the shop closes at 4.30 but opens late a couple of nights. They are my favourite LBS :-)

There are fore or so footpaths near our local golf course, 2 on the green which are smooth, and a couple by the side that are a bit more rough.

Walking the dog the other week, I couldn’t resist throwing a stray golf ball onto the green near a hole to confuse them 8)

I mounted mine on the frame

Luminator by S1mmy1, on Flickr

But I used some of the Velcro which is supplied with the helmet mount to wrap around the seat tube to stop it swinging around ( probably see it in the photo )

I’ve used this all through winter descending and its not moved at all. Gonna put it through its paces again tomorrow hopefully with a night ride.

I also used a bit more of the Velcro on the main tube to secure the wire and a small piece on the gear cable as well running it upto the light.

My mate has same bike and light and Jams his battery into an old bottle cage and that is as secure as my set up.

A couple of Christmas ago, we received a card off my mate up the street but they put my Mums name wrong on the card.

Instead of putting ” To Simmy and Doreen ” they put ” To Simmy and Hazel ”

What they was thinking I don’t know as they have lived here ages and know mums called Doreen.

Anyway, not to be outdone, she sent a card back saying ” To Brenda and Family ” when her name is Trish.

They now refer to each other as Hazel and Brenda and mum doesn’t mind one bit being called Hazel

I go to McDs most days, at least 5 times a week but only for a loo stop.

When I do eat there, I do clear up the tray after.

If my mate is with me, I put the lot in the bin, tray and everything as his face is a picture of embarrassment.

McDs trays were always good fun on my younger days. We used to ” obtain ” a few at a time, reverse the rear wheels of the car onto them, handbrake on, accelerate hard, then steer quickly and it was like doing an handbrake turn without wearing the tyres out.

Only in a front wheel drive car in a controlled environment.

Same bike as I ride these days :D

Well I only ride it when its dry weather as a second bike. I nipped out on it a few weeks ago, when I took the picture, intending to only be out half an hour and it turned into a 2 hour ride as I rode back to where I grew up and took it round the old trails ( well what’s left of them ) just chilling out and remembering the old days.

There’s a bloke called Chris Gilbert who is an ex police officer, he worked mainly on the training of traffic officers.

He’s also a Driving Instructor and taught Wills and Harry to drive.

He produces videos on safe driving under the website driving4tommorow and on his videos when he sees a Cycle, he either says its a cyclist if they are all lycra or baggied up, or they are a bike rider if they are in normal clothes, no helmet etc

Sums it up for me.

I done the san Marino in rivington the other day..thought I was proper “gnar” at the bottom..buzzing. Went though the gate down towards Belmont road and some s####y rut had me flat on my back in the overgrowth.

Went from hero to zero..i blamed it on my tired forearms.

Nearly got me a few weeks ago that. its right by the road so I think its a case of switching off a bit coz your “nearly home”

Its bloody deep but I was only going slow so managed to stop, the back of the bike went up a bit but I stayed on.

Fell off the pedals today coming down from the Pike to Pigeon Tower, first time in ages I’ve come off the pedals but think I was just tired today and shouldn’t really have gone out.

Having a nap at the pike didn’t help as it make you feel worse. Now have a bruised and swollen shin with some nice Vault pin shaped holes in it.

This was the other night before the rain started again. I wouldn’t ride stuff like this if it was muddy or going to churn the ground up but it was bone dry so no damage was done.

Like has been said, its all about common sense and respect. Not far from where the photo was took, there’s a footpath that’s goes straight across the local Golf Course and, that night, I ride it as it was going up for 10 pm and no one around whereas if they were golfing or it was wet I’d push.

Can’t do any more damage than one of them golf club carrying things.

I wouldn’t ride the stuff in Rivi where the no bikes signs are as its too much grief off walkers, but I remember asking someone from United Utilities where the Bridleways ended and Footpaths started near the castle and they hadn’t any idea and just told me to watch my speed but go anywhere.

I used to do Bolton – Oldham then back to Bolton every Morning then a full days driving delivering.

The morning part was the bit that finally put the nail in the coffin of that job.

I left at 7 am latest, got to Oldham anytime between 7.30 and 8 depending on the traffic, 20 mins turnaround so back around 8ish.

That was the worst bit. The M62 was mostly crawling and the M66 upto simister southbound was always stopped in lanes 1 & 2 which often affected the other lanes. Like everyone else has said, one RTC or incident and its game over.

A few times I didn’t even make it in the morning and just had to meet a colleague with my delivery s for the morning
.
Unless its a desperate situation, that job or no job for example, I’d not even consider it.

If you like driving now, don’t do it as you will hate it by the end

This is probably a really really daft question to most of you who know about bikes but I’ve never seem 27.5 inner tubes so do you just go 26″ and pump em right up, or tubeless ?

Or are there 27.5 inner tubes ?

Really had far too many to recall but some of my best ones are when I was 15 I’d a old Mk2 Escort that I drove off road.

None of my mates at school believed that I had a car at that age and, instead of taking them to the car, I took the car to them, at school parked up on a car park on the nearby housing estate and took them all to it at lunchtime.

I’d just got my Mountain bike a couple of years ago and I was messing around with he rebound thingy on the front shock whilst pedalling along and for some stupid reason I bounced the front end to see if it made a difference and I grabbed the front brake. Really really hard. OTB moment.

Cleaned my BMX when I was about 8 and took the front wheel off to polish the forks and didn’t tighten it back up proper. Face plant onto cobbled back street, 2 front teeth chipped.

Still when i was a kid a Mate of mine decided to see how fast he could go down a railway footbridge on his bike, but it was only that metal chequer plate on the ramp down. He couldn’t stop went flying into some bushes which were covering a deep ditch.
This was middle of summer so everything was in full bloom and, although I could hear him and talk to him, it took me 10 mins to actually clear enough shrubbery away so I could get him out.

There’s a black Audi A5 ( I think ) around here in Manchester that’s unmarked with a SW61 plate so, checking the lists above, that’s been registered in Aberdeen.

They all used to be MX, MV plates etc, which is Manchester, but they are getting savvy about it now.

I once got let off with 70 mph in a 30 as it gone flying into a road and 2 Police motorbikes saw my driving like a idiot but, as they was coming the other way by the time they had turned round and caught me I was sat in traffic so they couldn’t get a track on me.

They knew full well I’d flown down there as they said they had done 60 and couldn’t catch me.

That’s the most dangerous, stupidest thing I’d ever done and looking back now, the consequences of my driving that morning could have been catastrophic.

I can’t even be bother getting upto 70 on the motorway most of the time now and just chill with the HGVs

Yep that’s it.

No amusements, candy floss etc like a normal pier, just an old loading bay to the Canal.

Shame really as, up until a few years back, there was a museum here which as now closed.

Congratulations on completing the ride.

I did a short section from Wigan to Burscough yesterday, it was OK but I wouldn’t want to try it in wet weather as it looked like it could turn into a mudbath.

+ 1 for the earlier suggestion about he cafe at Parbold, had an ice cream there but managed to go down the wrong side of the canal so ended up going down a narrow section in a field as I should have crossed the bridge in Parbold but didn’t realise.

Carried on down the wrong side till I got to a tiny tunnel and crossed back over, got scratches on my arms from all the brambles now !!!

I’ve now, but by bit, done the Buscough to Blackburn section.

I regular nip down the high street on the bike.

Bought a £40 bike, couple of panniers and a decent lock, panniers off when parked, fill them whilst shopping and its so easy.

Most of the time I can park the bike closer than the car anyway but for a big shop, its all uphill so the car wins but just for nipping bank, haircut, or for some lunch, its well easy.

Wouldn’t do it on the Orange though as it wouldn’t be there when I got back so get a unattractive bike, this one was owned by a kid previous and its got them panini football stickers stuck on various bit of the frame and hologram stickers !!! Nice….

I was once in Burger King in Blackpool and Joe Pasquale was stood next to me ordering at the next till.

Until that point, I thought his voice was an act.

Peter Kay used to stack shelves in our local Netto and I tripped over John Culshaw when he was sat on some stairs in Food Giant in Blackpool when he worked on local radio doing an outside broadcast.

Have it done properly.

With my lease car, we use ATS and again its massively variable, the main problem being lack of stock of the tyres which the lease company specify I.e. the cheapest.

The lads in my local ATS are brill and I go in a few days before to check stock and they get authorisation and I go back a few days later and job done in 20 mins or so.

For my own car. I use a small garage locally behind a petrol station who do basic servicing and MOTs, not the cheapest but about average price, reliable, and they straighten my wheels on the lease car for nothing it one of the learners catches a kerb.

Probably best to ask around locally to get recommendations for a good garage.
