Are these van with windows classed as cars then insurance wise ?
I’ve had silly quotes for vans and really fancy something to just chuck the bikes in.
simmyFree MemberIt was one of those Bumps cars that seem to be everywhere, didn’t get his reg or anything else, too busy laughing my arse off while trying to ride straight
Bumps is the name of a Driving School ?!?!?!?!?
Sounds about right If they behave like this
simmyFree MemberReport the clown.
Even if he’s an independent instructor, the DSA fraud and integrity team would be interested as this goes against the instructors code of conduct,
simmyFree MemberCheers Guys
Mum says at least it won’t run over Xmas so she will get the break.
To not go, would it be a criminal offence, or just a fine ? If it’s just a fine without any conviction, I’d probably just pay that than the possibility of my business being screwed up.
simmyFree MemberI agree with Project about the pennine section, I never once go through without thinking about how it was built.
Like most motorways they are a victim of their own success with business and retail parks off most junctions
In my opinion, the M62 is nothing compared to the M60, what kind of a motorway requires going round a traffic light controlled roundabout just to stay on the bloody thing ?
Near the Trafford Centre, if it rains it comes to a grinding halt. That Motorway was the main reason I left my job as a Van Driver just got fed up with it all.
simmyFree MemberYep I got a medium one at lunchtime and it fits me fine.
I’m back at work in a bit so I’m going to nip back to Aldi after work and see if they have anymore.
Heads up to anyone looking for them instore, they are wrapped in a paper tube so don’t mistake them for bin bags at first glance :D
simmyFree MemberSimmy, going by the ones I bought today(one small and one medium) they do seem to come up on the bigger side of sm+med, thats just going by the ones I had today tho, never bought any bamboo stuff before.
OK cheers, think it will nip in tomorrow and get a medium.
As far as I know, they keep them in stock for a good few weeks or until they sell up.
Aldi Blackpool had a basket 3/4 full of them cycling gloves yesterday and they was on offer about 3 weeks ago.
simmyFree MemberFocus
End of thread :D
Sounds like a minter, hardly done 3,000 miles a year so should be fine
simmyFree MemberAnyone know how these are for sizing ?
I’m between a medium and large normally depending on the shirts
simmyFree MemberWell I can just shot get my hand in behind the badge but I can’t find anything to move about
Can you get a torch and see the end of the cable ?
If so, push it towards the drivers side
simmyFree MemberI’ve a R reg polo so same shape as yours, can’t help you with the running bit but the bonnet is problematic on mine.
When you said you have put GT85 on it, do you mean on the bonnet or the pull inside the car ?
The bonnet will be jammed above the grill I reckon. If it helps, the grill is in effectively 3 parts, the main part that goes under the headlights, the actual black plastic grill, and the badge.
The VW badge can be gently prised out as it only has 3 push clips holding it in which will then allow you to put GT85 up to the bonnet catch. Than you can try pulling the cable from that end using long nosed bent pliers, or something with a hook on.
When you get the bonnet up, put plenty grease on the catch above the grill as mine sticks if it dries up.
If none of the above helps go on. http://www.clubpolo.co.uk and you will get help on there.
simmyFree MemberLeigh.
Well I teach round there and I asked one of my Students had he ever been there before. His reply was ” who the **** would come here voluntarily ?
Most places around that area have suffered long term since the mills and pits shut with little investment apart from new retail parks and new houses with little in the way of new infrastructure.
I live not far from Leigh, and have all my life and my area is now heavily congested, full of commuters into Manchester and Drug Dealers.
simmyFree MemberWhen I am cycling, I slow down and get onto the Pavement simply because I know that I will have been aware of the Sirens well before any Driver does and they will then panic and not expect a cyclist to be there…..
I will stop and wait or go slowly on the Pavement if no Pedestrians.
Another thing to bear in mind when driving and being stationary in traffic is to leave enough space between yourself and the vehicle in front so that space is available to move over.
” tyres and Tarmac ” is a phrase used meaning you can still see the vehicle in fronts tyres and a bit of Tarmac
simmyFree MemberI’d have done exactly as the OP did.
Most people have no idea what’s coming up behind them, only the other day I was going along with a car really close behind as I was doing to biggest crime ever of keeping to the speed limit and behind the car behind me was a Ambulance On blues and twos.
This clown behind hadn’t got a clue the ambo was approaching and I decided to indicate left in the Hope that she would check her mirrors, she then tried coming round me then must have spotted the ambo and swerved in like they do abandoning a car at the end of a police chase.
As we moved off, she started adjusting her interior mirror…..
I had a low car once and there was a fire and the hose was running across the road so had to drive over them ramp things and drop down.
As I approached the hose, the front bumper of my car wouldn’t clear and I pushed the hose down the road 8O the fire chief guy was not happy and a police man was upset as well because I was on a one way street with about 40 vehicles behind me.
Ended up getting the fire men to lift the hose whilst I drove under
simmyFree MemberOnly Bike I don’t use in the Winter is my old Raleigh which is Steel and is extra special to me as it was my first mountain Bike and Nan bought it me.
All the others are covered in muck even now.
simmyFree MemberGarmin Touring.
As a singleton, I am going to have to buy it myself. Most I will get will be a Evans voucher and a T Shirt from my Mate and his Wife.
I wonder if I could put the Garmin through the company books as a Sat Nav?
simmyFree MemberNot right that in my opinion.
100% feedback but only as a Buyer.
Wasn’t watsontony from Blackburn :D 8O
simmyFree MemberSorry to hear about your Mum.
My Mum lives with me and, even though we have ups and downs, I’m an only Child as well so I can imagine what your Mum meant to you.
Despite everything that goes on on STW, there’s a lot of love on here when you need it. I met you back in August when you didn’t have a light with you and we spent the time at the pub watching the sky.
I work most evenings so I will not be able to make it tomorrow, but I will try to get out on one of the Monday rides soon so hopefully will see you and the rest of the gang then.
Take Care mate
Simon
simmyFree MemberI only use my car for work, bit difficult without it, and to go to my Friends 32 miles away, otherwise I use the Bikes.
I prefer Shopping on the Bike as I can’t be bothered parking in our small town and trips to the Bank are so much easier.
My Mates missus sometimes pulls her face when I turn up at there’s wet and muddy on the MTB but I prefer riding the Bike these days.
simmyFree MemberNot in a restaurant but at the local summer fete 2 mums screaming at each other about who is most upmarket.
I didn’t hear it all, but I heard ” well that’s how we talk around here, if you don’t like it **** off back to where you **** ing came from ”
One then walked away whilst still screaming at the other. The local firemen where letting kids in the fire engine and they realised what was happening and switched the siren on :D
That soon shut them up.
simmyFree MemberKSI figures are going down because cars are safer these days and the risk of being killed or seriously injured is a lot less than 20 years ago with the same impact or force in an accident.
Driving attitudes in this country are getting worse, just targeting the new drivers mean it will take years and years for everyone who has been on this scheme to be exclusively on the road.
Attitudes in Full Licence Holders need to be changed as its them who filter attitude down to the younger people.
simmyFree MemberThe cost of lessons and, after passing the test, insurance is putting lots of young people off learning to drive in the first place, anyway.
But is it actually putting them off driving? No, they always find a way of getting on the road, even the ones who are going to Uni and won’t drive for 3 years are desperate to get a full licence as its one more ” feather in the cap ” when applying for work.
I think the plans are unenforcable and it’s just a slow news day.
simmyFree MemberIve been on 2 forum rides and everyone I’ve met has been great.
Went on one around Rivington late last year that I think Junkyard organised and have been on the Monday night Preswich one.
Like has been said, probably wouldn’t recognise everyone again.
Met Muddydwarf by the roadside at 1.30 am…….he was doing the Manchester to Blackpool Night Ride.
Really must get out again on Mondays but work has gone busy again
simmyFree MemberThere’s the full range of 2014 Boardmans in the Blackpool store, just about the only Halfords I know that actually have a good idea on Bikes.
No spec sheets on the Bikes yet, but I did notice there wasn’t any 26″ wheels…………
Bloody good looking Bikes so I will be interested to weigh up the Groupset and Equipment specs on them, got to admit to just looking at them and walking away fast as I’m very tempted by a Road Bike but I’ve an House to do up first.
simmyFree MemberDoes sound cheap.
I got a 3 level scaffold for the full length of gable on my semi for £500 with permit at mates rates last year so the scaffold even on a terrace, will be a few hundred quid at full rates.
Get a few more quotes but keep quiet about the first one and see what happens.
simmyFree MemberThe guy more than likely was having personal problems but he would have more if he killed someone.
I would love to snatch a phone out of a drivers hand and stand on it.
The Cop is out of order letting him off.
Let’s all go down to Central Motorway Police Groups area, drive like clowns and come up with a X Factor sob story.
simmyFree MemberIs the domain registered by you ?
The original guy registered them, but to my address. I’ve just checked them on 123reg, and they all have my address.
simmyFree MemberWho are the domains registered with? If you have control of the domains it’s simple, if you don’t it gets more complicated as you need to get them to release them.
Registered with http://www.heartinternet.co.uk
simmyFree Member+ 1 for lights in the day mainly rear.
I’ve lost count of the amount of idiots I’ve seen on phones so whatever makes us stand out is worth it.
Did have one old girl shout ” your lights on love ” so I replied ” yeah thanks I know at least you saw me ” :D
simmyFree MemberStart a thread on here about Driving, sit back and be entertained for hours :D
simmyFree MemberThought I’d bump this thread up as I’ve just been out on the MTB and its drier than I can remember for a long time out there.
Had a couple of proper good slides around corners, interesting in the dark, and a blast through some downhill wooded bits, can’t remember ever being able to ride through fallen leaves without there being mud underneath.
Let’s make the most of it coz its normally cold and wet by now.
simmyFree MemberIf and it is if they do come back with something that shouldn’t have been there it will be interesting to see how Sky deal with it.
As far as I know Sky only sign people who are and have been clean so JTL is surely out ?
Could be all manner of reasons why JTL has struggled meeting the expectations Sky had of him but on the other hand…..
simmyFree MemberYeah cheers mate hope everything went OK for the rest of the ride :-)
Some were still coming through here at 2am and I was only 11 miles in so it was a long for for some.
simmyFree MemberI normally am not interested in politics as it does my head in but this character was on BBC breakfast the other day going on about Camera Cars and didn’t seem to have a clue what the point was he was trying to make.
Bit like me rereading my post……..
simmyFree MemberMost people are fine if you slow down, hold back and keep the Pro 2 rumbling
I got stuck behind a Jogger with Earphones in for 15 Mins a while ago. I could have got past but the young lady was a lovely sight at the end of a long ride 8)
simmyFree MemberAnyone got one of these yet ?
Just had a play on the display one in Halfords and they do look good – seems to have openstreetmap installed.
Just put a postcode in and away you go just like a car Sat Nav. I couldn’t work out all the features so guess there are loads more but without instructions it’s impossible to work out.
simmyFree MemberI got some Gloves and some of them back up lights.
The Gloves are almost identical to my Gore ones and, although I’ve not worn them on the Bike yet, seem really comfy.
As for the sizing, I got a Gilet a few weeks ago and tried on a Large which was way too big so settled for a Medium. As DONK said, some things are sealed so I couldn’t try it on but it really is too big.
Should have swooped it for a Small but I’m 14 stone and broad shoulders and was 11lbs 5 at birth so I’ve never worn small in my life so seems strange sizing.
simmyFree MemberWell I will be the bystander on the A6 just after the car sales places and will be stood with a labrador so give us a wave
simmyFree MemberMust just be me then……
I’m gonna see if my Auntie can put some new Zips on them as its a shame to ditch them.
