Which Barbers do I go to ?

Which large shopping centre do I risk to get Mum’s Xmas present ?

Shall I put BP ultimate diesel in the car today, or Shell V power ?

On my lunchtime Meal Deal, do I get a Xmas sandwich from the CO-OP or Tesco ?

If I do stick to Tesco, should I get a smoothie as the Drink and save it till morning, or get a Lucozade to keep me going at work ?

    The punishments are a joke.

Some cops just don’t care and just want less paperwork.

A while ago, a woman knocked a guy off his moped outside my house. She turned straight across him. The moped guy had his leg ripped through to the bone just above the ankle which, I’m guessing, he did as he bounced off the crash barrier.

The traffic cop breathalised both parties then just left it at that. The accident was blatantly the woman’s fault, this guy was lying in an ambulance on gas and air with his ankle ripped apart and the cop said it wasn’t bad enough to be prosecuted for due care and attention.

In my book, not seeing another road user is not paying attention.

I find them very hit and miss regarding advice.

I have bought a bike off them without any problems and the communications etc were spot on. That was at the Trafford Chill Factor store.

The click and collect and price match service are great, but I tend to just find a cheap place online, ring gatwick to price match, pay over the phone for in store collection. Saves standing there whilst the young kid finds out if they can price match, has to find a swipe card etc……

Aside from people who only ever see perma-clogged motorways like the M25 at commuter times and are excused as they know nothing else, I can’t believe I’m having to explain this stuff. There really should be a motorway section on the driving test.

I agree 100 % but unfortunately testing on Motorways is very unlikely to happen under the current driving test.

Simply as some parts of the U.K. don’t have Motorways and the test has to be a ” level playing field ” nation wide. I’ve put level playing field in quotes as the Test is definatly not a level playing field now anyway. Some test centres have routes that don’t take the candidate over 30 mph, other test centres go straight out onto 70 mph Dual Carraigeways.

Even on my instructor test, I only went 1 junction on a motorway.

I realised how fortunate I was financially a few weeks ago when a guy in front of me in the supermarket had bought a tin of dog food and a packet of peanuts which came to about 90p and he tried to pay with his debit card and it was rejected.

He had no money and honesty thought he had enough in his bank.

Not much of a gesture, but I got them for him, I’m not really a people person but that played on my mind for a few days.

They have just dropped the limit on a road near me from 40 to 30. The reason given is that the roads off the previous 40 stretch are now 20’s and that slowing down from 40 to 20 is dangerous……..

Who turns at 20 mph unless you are a lunatic ?

Another road near me, not much pedestrian activity, houses set back, fields on the other side, is now a 20 and if you do 20 you are really bullied from behind.

I think milky has it spot on.

” loneliness is a crowded room ” think it was Roxy Music who sang that.

Point I’m making is if you don’t feel a connection with anyone, you can be surrounded by people and still feel on your own. I’m a loner, I’ve a couple of really good mates, two who I see regular, but I love being on my own. Just keep going with my dreams in my head and I’m happy.

I wouldn’t want to be without my mates, but I’d rather have those two who I can say anything to than loads of people around me who I don’t connect to.

As has been said, check the hinges.

I saw a Transit Custom minibus a few months back where the wings were flapping as the doors rip them off.

    ^^ this

Your accountant is more than likely set up as your agent and will have all your log in details so, I’m guessing, you will have to get those off them.

My accountant charges £330 and I’d rather pay that than do it myself as I’m useless with figures.

Same front, different shell just like the old Escorts

Guessing the Dispatch will have barn doors and the car above a tailgate ?

    simmy

Yeah, but even if there is a car version, it has to be the exact same body to have car limits.

The old Escort van had the Escort front but, as the back was different, it had the lower limits. Same with the old Vauxhall Combo, Corsa front, big back end….

Any Van that doesn’t share the exact same bodyshell as the car it’s based on will have the Van speed limits.

The Fiesta van has car speed limits as it is the same body, just the rear side windows blocked out. Something like a Transit Courier or Connect, even being roughly the same size as the Fiesta will have the lower limits.

Doesn’t matter about weight. All a bit silly if you ask me.

Is the Berlingo the one with the side windows ?

I told Adrian Flux that they are thieves in suits when they tried to rip me off with my Van insurance.

If I remember correctly, they pushed the renewal through the roof and when I rang them, they dropped it lower than the comparison sites.

I’m limited to who I can use to insure the car because of work and I’ve been with the same company for 8 years and I now ring them before they even send me the renewal and tell them just to give me their best price and don’t rip me off.

Like I said, there are only a few companies I can use so it’s not a massive competitive market so you can kind of get them over a barrel. Wouldn’t try it with normal insurance.

Do you mean Driving Instructors or Examiners ?

    Sorry, meant Examiners.

Exactly, there aren’t enough examiners to get learners through in a reasonable timeframe also, every Driving Instructor I know is booked solid so in theory it would be a good idea but, unless there is massive investment in Examiners and loads more people become instructors, it would be completely unworkable.

That’s why it will never happen.

For all those wanting compulsory retests every X years, where we live they can’t even organise enough instructors for those just taking their tests, 6 month waiting lists..

I had the same at ATS the other day. The tyre I wanted was £6 cheaper online when I checked it on my phone.

They initially told me to pay over the Internet and they would get a confirmation e mail and they could fit my tyre there and then.

When I asked could they not just adjust the price on the till and I would pay cash, they said ” oh yeah, suppose so ”

Places seem to just rely on customers being too lazy to check prices.

It’s Greater Manchester’s section of motorway.

I can’t understand why they didn’t stop the flatbed on the Day. It happened at the junction of the M60 and M62, right near the works compound and one junction away from where the traffic unit is based.

Anything to get the day over, I just like normality.

I’m working till Xmas eve then back in on the Tuesday. Rather be at work than having to be nice to people you hate and generally jolly through the crappy Xmas period.

    Bah humbug…….

My mates Son will be 1 year and 9 months this Christmas.

Apparently, according to mates wife, this is way too young for him to have a Scalextric.

Think she has Sussed out that it’s for my mate and I to mess with and she won’t allow it…….

    Spoilsport 😉

Yeah, don’t take the dealers on.

The clean is simply not required. I’m guessing that your mileage includes motorway journeys in that case car will clean itself.

I’ve a Fiesta 1.4 tdci on 107k I use Shell or BP fuel and I make sure that it Regenerates the DPF weekly by a Motorway run which, I’m guessing, you will be doing anyway. My mileage is mainly town.

If you do decide to use an independent garage, make sure they use the correct oil. Think it needs oil with sulphur in it to help the DPF.

There are some good loan rates about at the moment. I’ve just got a loan rate of 3.8 %

The last loan, same amount, was 9.9 %

Everyone does what they want with their hard earned. I’ve always wanted a Ford RS and was seriously tempted by the latest Focus.

I could afford the payments etc but, where I live, it will get nicked. They will follow me home. I will be broken into for the keys. I will get carjacked at the lights.

Not being paranoid, being realistic. Saw a bloke with an RS put a Disklok on it just when he nipped into Morrisons the other day.

Bloke I’m acquainted to has Ferraris and he keeps them in a location 6 miles from his home and always takes the long way there.

Ha! My Mrs sent me that pic of Market St before. I bet The Sheath regulars will all be out tutting at it.

    Or fighting it…… 😀

The Police had the road blocked off at the clinic, but it wasn’t shut off the other side of Market St. I came down and just encountered a Council tree surgeon van blocking it off near the Market.

my train home from work was delayed by about 45 minutes. it’s absolutely filthy over here. i really really hope duncan hasn’t gone out in this, horwich is being battered by wind and rain same as everywhere else

There’s a tree down in Westhoughton market street so god knows how windy it is up Rivi.

If Duncan has gone out, hope he is ok

I’ve got a original red Triban 3 with full SKS guards on it.

Can’t remember which ones they are, but they weren’t too bad to fit, had to warm a section up and bend it with a spoon to give a bit of clearance but they fitted ok.

The only issue is the quick release has to be taken out completely to get the rear wheel out. Fronts fine.

Watched it again last night and there really are some cringe bits in it like, has been said the fake fight and the dead celeb bit.

I’m watching it at my mates. I wouldn’t subscribe to it.

Watched it at mates last night, not made my mind up yet but one thing I’ve decided is you can’t deny how well Clarkson, Hammond and May work together compared to Evans and Le Blanc.

Same old same old with the RAC at renewal every year. Find the lowest price, call them up, tell them not to take the mick, end up same price as last year or cheaper.

It’s annoying but I’ve been with them 17 years, always had decent service and the local patrols round here are sound.

Always seemed to be overpriced for most things.

I used them at first when I went self employed then realised I could get pens etc cheaper at the supermarket.

Went into Staples for a 2017 diary the other day, shelf price £10.99, about right for the one I use, got to till £8.24. Weird.

Also asked me to fill in a survey online for chance to win £500 so it probably come as a surprise to the staff.

My mates got a Trade Card and he is a joiner.

They are really pushing them at the moment so that the prices on consumables are more in line with Motor Factors.

Halfords mark up on bulbs etc are verging on criminal………

This thread has reminded me of buying a AX GT for £100 – went halves with a mate so £50 each.

It had a few weeks MOT left so we left it in his dad’s garage till pay day when I was going to insure it. Only bought it to hoon about in for a laugh.

Went to the garage one day and it had been nicked 😯 we went out on our bikes, annoyed at what had happened, to go to the Police station to report it. On the way there, we went our usual way over the manmade unofficial BMX jumps in the back field.

Guess what we found abandoned on the top of one of the jumps……….

The AX was literally bent in half and the doors wouldn’t even shut. As we hadn’t got round to sending the log book off, we then didn’t bother going to the Police….

I’ve had the Escorts, Fiestas etc and actually only got rid of a Mk 2 Polo and Mk 2 Golf which had been off road a couple of years ago.

Reason I got rid ? I’d got a modern car and, even just driving them at weekend etc, it still felt like driving a piece of…….compared to how a modern car drives / feels.
