My pair of Decathlon clear specs had some significant distortion in both lenses, and went straight in the bin.

I’m with Hugo. Boots should fit 100% with everyday socks. they should need no breaking in. Any hot spots WILL get worse over time and ‘better’ socks are only masking a problem. The only time I may add special socks is if i’m walking for 8+ hours.

Find a manufacturer with a last that fits your foot. My feet only accept Adidas or Mammuts.

In a similar vein to RustyNissanPrairie a sheet of hardboard smmoth face up and a few screws to hold it in place.

Once it starts to get a bit scuffed up rip it up and replace it.

I put hope brakes on a 2019 scott scale and a 2015 orange segment. Both had shimano brakes and adaptors. I had to replace the front and rear adaptors on the orange and the front on the Scott. All were because of interference; e4 (front) x2 (Rear) on the orange, x2 on the Scott.

I applaud this thread and the sentiment involved, Sadly, I think it’s all moot.

Covid is a first world problem. That is to say, the rapid vaccine development & research has only happened due to Covid affecting developed nations (Although I’m not underselling the potential of this being even bigger without the current social restrictions & research funding).

TB kills almost 2 million people every year, almost exclusively in developing nations, and we have effective vaccines and treatments for that.

I’m actually wondering if an all out ban is the way forward TBH. I’d LOVE to see anyone try and enforce it, followed by the backlash as 1000s of locals are told their kids can’t ride their balance bikes on the forest any more. I’d wager only 10% of cyclists in the forest are what we’d describe as ‘cyclists’ and the other 90% are family groups.

I’m in the south of the forest every night either cycling or walking the dog. Cyclists are not a problem in the forest, either socially or ecologically.

Honest question for you Burko, if you don’t mind. Why do the verderers have so much sway? I always understood it that their primary focus should be the common rights (and the welfare of the animals) but they seem to be able to block so much as the article in the OP implies?

Do they really expect anyone to listen to their antiquated nimbyism.

Sadly, yes a lot of people here do.

    This boils my piss.

The verderers are a joke. Half of them (5) are elected by the commoners. The commoners (roughly 300 people) are those with rights (either interited or bought) to graze their animals on the forest, and of the ones I’ve met, are awful people.

Yes, the verderers *SHOULD* be protecting the forest, but they aren’t: They object to changing road junctions that kill cyclists (Ipley). They close carparks focusing visitors into increasingly overused areas, and go on to object (block) toilets and bins in those carparks due to aesthetics.

the cycle network is totally unusable outside of 3 mile loops from the overused remaining carparks.

I’ve lived here my whole life and have been all over it on my MTB since the early 90s. it’s been the same all that time.

I gave up fighting years ago, but would love to know if cyclists are actually represented in any way in the New forest now?

My wife manages 2 covid wards, I work in children’s social services. We fall into the ‘work harder and longer in a more stressful environment’ stereotype. Your mates wife is a total ****.

Same here; Albeit I work with the guys doing vaccine development.

Longest and most stressful days I’ve ever seen.

I prefer my Montane top as it has the minor improvements that Buffalo should have made years ago.

That’s interesting, as I had a buffalo windshirt for 15 years and decided to replace it as the pile was totally flat. I bought a montane which *looks* like it should be an improvement, but overall the buffalo is a far better shirt, IMO.
