I think the CNC guy got it just right – the logo/wording fits the wood where it should. Central would have looked odd due to the wood itself, and symmetry isn’t always the best option.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

The quickest way out would be to keep travelling in the direction you are already travelling, assuming you’re already directly underneath it. If you’re stationary, I dunno, but I’d probably choose perpendicular to the branch.

I think this is sadly one of the cases where the cats quality of life post op and (in all likelihood) prior to the tumor re-appearing wouldn’t be great – certainly hard to justify for the cats best interests.

Aside from the 5 year old cat above (which was 10 years ago), we went through *similar* with our dog 2 years ago with a nasal tumor.

Vet; “These are typically aggressive, even with aggressive (and unpleasant) treatment the dog will probably only see another 6 months etc etc”

Me; ” When can you start treatment? Here’s my credit card.”

the dog lived six months to the day, and we wish we hadn’t put him through the treatment. Without treatment he may not have lived as long, but I don’t think the treatment was fair to him, in hindsight. £12k (not that it’s about money)

I’m going to leave this now, getting upset TBH. OP, PM me if you want.

Sorry – no good news here.

5 year old cat had a fibrosarcoma on her side, spotted when it was the size of a grape. Specialist vet said that to remove properly involved 3 layers of tissues – so skin, muscles, ribs in her case. Prognosis still poor even with removal. Basically what you’ve been told.

We didn’t have it removed and she was perfectly happy for another few months, and then wasn’t, and started to go downhill fast.

lots of treats and hugs whilst you can, IMO.

yes, just wire in series, you’ll present an 8 ohm load with 2 4 ohm speakers. The amp will be 100% fine seeing 8 ohm.

If you wire in parallel, you’ll give it a 2 ohm load which will stress it much more.

Higher ohms good, lower ohms bad.

I’ve spent at least an hour every day walking the dogs/riding in the new forest for the last 20 years – taken no precaution, and only ever had one tick actually attach – found loads on me though, including 2 today. The dogs record was 13 attached after 1 walk about 10 years ago.

I think the risk is actually very low (obviously high impact).

Find a firewood log seller – explain what you want and that you’re willing to pay the going rate of logs.

Or, contact a local tree surgeon.

What do you actually want them for?

Weirdly, just had (today) exactly this on the dishwasher.

5 year old Bosch dishwasher in an MK socket (new 6 years ago when we did the kitchen). Other half of the socket (fridge freezer) is perfect as is the plug. The bosch plug is actually slightly melted. the area is

    New plug or new dishwasher?

Look up “Cash in Lieu Of Repair”.

Best option by far if you’re sure the car is easily repairable.

Pre-pandemic we were in america, and stopped by the ‘Cheescake Factory’ for lunch. Aside from being a normal restaurant they (unsurprisingly) sell cheesecake. It’s sold by the slice, and whilst they are large slices, they’re hardly extreme. The calories per slice were listed, and aside from a few ‘healthy’ options they started at 1200 cal per slice. Most were over 1800, and some topped 2000.

I recruit a lot, and can see a benefit; we see a lot of very well worded cover letters/applications that are ultimately in no way representative of the person that turns up for interview. In that respect I can see the value in it to the employer.

I’m also applying for a role at the moment, and can honestly say that would make me reluctant to proceed with it unless i REALLY wanted the role. Which again, I can see would maybe be a benefit to employers, as we receive masses of applications that people have no intention of following up/showing up for interview.

Not my cup of tea TBH.

I do visit Snowdonia/Eryi at least once a year and will try to use the correct names.

    But (sorry)…

Lets’ not forget that for non-welsh speakers, pronouncing Yr Wyddfa is… troublesome. I actually started to learn welsh a few years back too. Betws Y Coed anyone?

It’s Kinda why we say ‘Spain’ not ‘Espana’. Suomi. Kalaallit Nunaat. Etc.

…so my assumption that use of the deprecated name throught the thread without reference to the name change was deliberately ignorant is not unwarranted.

Wasn’t aware, and not deliberately ignorant.

Why have you got a spacer on the freehub (before the cassette goes on)? I’ve never used one (at least, not in the last 20 years, some old 8 speed cassettes needed a thin spacer). I currently run a hope pro 2 evo with a 12 speed microshift cassette – no need for that spacer?

Clearance, especially with 12 speed, can be very tight, are you sure your lock ring isn’t actually touching the frame?

If 3 of them are working I’d consider just running it like that for the life of the car.

Problem being it puts a CEL on which is an MOT fail.

Same as above, screw at 6 oclock and decent 24hour epoxy. Nothing will ever remove that… does it need to be removable?

I’ve had a straightforward (minimal damage rear-end shunt) settled in less than 2 months. But, Awkward claims take longer.

All I’ll say is don’t, ever, get driven into by the MOD Police. 100% their fault, I had very credible witnesses, minimal damage to my drivers side wing, no injuries etc. Took over two years.

Koi need tens of thousands of litres, and the filters to cope also cost thousands. Don’t think about it (FYI, I do have koi). Cheap koi do NOT = cheap pets.

I also live on the south coast. most ‘community’ tropical fish will be fine in our water, and any decent fish shop will warn you about any difficult to keep/aggressive species. All fish require weekly  maintenance and water changes – are you prepared for lugging buckets of water around the house?

If you are; Guppies. Look at guppies. Small, colourful, hardy and they breed like you wouldn’t believe. They will need a heater and a proper filter

    Some basic rules;

Don’t ever get a Pleco. They reach a foot long. (Ancistrus are great though!)

Most Cichlids are demanding in some way.

A lot of fish are happier as a shoal.

Any tank needs to be set up for a minimum of a few weeks before introducing fish

Bigger tanks are easier to look after – avoid anything under 60-70 litres.

Is it snobbery when folk say they’re not interested in riding on the road, or bikepacking, or riding in the snow, or racing, or any of the other variety of ways some folk enjoy themselves on two wheels?

    </div>
    </div>

Not at all, and I have no issue with people simply not being interested. IMO saying “it’s not actually riding a bike” (or words to that effect) is either snobbery, jealousy, or some other form of negative judgement that massively undermines the skill, practice & effort needed.

Needs a specific bike? No. That’s singletrack mind talking.

Not riding a bike? You are, in a very literal sense, riding a bike!

It does need a decent level of commitment, skill & practice to see gains as it’s technically demanding. From that respect has a ‘high price of entry’, or; it’s not quickly satisfying/looks too hard for most people.

I’m saddened at some peoples responses on here that sound like snobbery/sour grapes.

We’re 18 months into a WC pup (not our first). Jeez, I forgot just how much of a **** a puppy can be.

Most of what I would say has already been said. Golfchicks advice is excellent.

Do you have a 3 mile (absolute minimum) walk & safe off lead area close enough that you can walk/drive there every single night? If the answer is no, reconsider the breed. We don’t ‘work’ ours, but know many people that do, and we’re all agreed on one thing; A healthy working cocker (and I mean from working stock) will walk ALL DAY on a lead, and get nothing from it. They need to run and flush in the undergrowth for an hour a day.

We live (literally) on the edge of the new forest, and If we didn’t, I wouldn’t even think of getting an active/working breed.

Working cockers in general are a phenomenal breed as a pet, but please don’t underestimate the time & effort involved in keeping them happy, especially in the first year.

I wouldn’t see Peterson & Tate as Alpha Males – More like Sigmas.

db’s description pretty much nails it, and there isn’t necessarily any negative to being an alpha male (and I’m not one!!!)

Our 2005 T5 (also the 2.5 engine) has been remarkably reliable for the last 10 years, and nearly 100K miles (now on 175K).

Needed a new turbo a few years ago (ALL turbos will need replacing at some point), clutch at 120k miles,  a few suspension bushes & regular servicing. No rust at all.

3 logs isn’t a fire, it won’t be getting hot enough, so you’ll be getting creosote formation which is what you’ll be smelling. All crappy wood as jam-bo has said too. Get some real heat into your flue.

Got to 70 and now stumped. Obvious clues I cannot decipher include
    1. Black Jack (spades)
    2. The blue Cocktail (but could be red herring)
    3. Candle in bowl (also dubious)
    4. Ear-heart
    5. Fire detector/sprinkler?
    6. Blue breasted bird
    7. Red lightening bolt
    8. USA sign

    1. flip it

    2. the colour is irrelevant

    3. don’t think it’s a clue

    4. that’s the surname

    5. not sure that’s a clue?

    6. the colour is irrelevant – think of another songbird

    7. it’s makeup

    8. which film is this?

Is fox M on bar tap one?

    yep.

    simian

I’ve had an Eberspacher* diesel heater in my van for 10 years – they’re awesome.

Santa is bringing me a chinese one for the garage for christmas, I have high hopes. Unfortunately, everyone has had the same idea this year, and supplies are running low…

I suspect they all come from the same factory, but Vevor get consistantly good reviews (although they’re an importer rather than manufacturer and they are out of stock of them all!)

*All the chinese heaters are a copy of these.
