I’ve just built up a road bike with a frame purchased from CRC and the rest (wheels, groupset etc) from Merlin. Fantastic service from both.

What’s that? A picture? Oh go on then

Nor sure about the wheels, although I’d be tempted to push the budget and get a pair of Ultegra wheels for around £250.00. Worth every penny.

I can heartily recommend the Michelin Krylion Carbon tyres though. I changed to these from Ultremo R1s and can’t tell the difference. Coming up to 1000 miles on them and no punctures yet.

Mrs SP started getting in photography last year and bought a Nikon D5000 after doing a bit of research.

She recommends it and doesn't seem to want to upgrade yet – unlike when I buy a bike

Lots of reviews if you google

I can do tree diagrams? As in probabilities etc. Explain it a bit more I might understand.

That's pretty much it Realman. A series of decisions based on the outcome of uncontrollable events taking into account payoff values and costs. The maths part is fairly straightforward, it's the actual construction of the the decision tree I had a bit of trouble with.

The question (and my answer) is too long to post on here but if you do have some real word or academic experience your opinion would be gratefully received.

No quantitative methods and probability studies. The decision tree analysis is a practical application of how statistics and probabilities can be used in the decision making progress.

Not great service in this instance but everybody makes mistakes, even LBSs. I've always found CRC service to be excellent and in the interests of redressing the balance see below my recent email chain.

    Hi Stewart,

Sorry to hear about the missing hanger from your recent order. I can confirm that we are sending it out to you now.

I trust this helps and sorry for any inconvenience caused.

    Kind Regards,

    Simon

Frame has arrived with appropriate fork/headset as you say but without a rear derailleur hanger that attaches to the dropouts

Order No is 4180111 – please can you send another (hanger not frame!). I prefer not to have to return the frame for such a small item, especially as it is now with my LBS for building up.

    Many thanks

    Hi Stewart,

Just heard back from our frame location and this frame comes supplied with the Principia Weave Fork and a suitable headset.

    Kind Regards,

    Hi

Can you confirm which fork this frame comes with. The description
mentions an Ellipse Project fork and also an Evolution fork?
Also does the frame come with the appropriate headset and if not, what
    headset do you recommend?

    Many Thanks

Did it the other way, from J o'G to Lands End. Took 9 days. Really good fun and as others say, the best riding is in Scotland.

First couple of days were hard but after that, not too bad as I recall

Cycle to work scheme, soaring petrol prices, London congestion charge, ticket happy traffic wardens, most car journeys are less than 5 miles.

Cycling seems a less a mid life crisis, more a logical choice.

LOL at this thread. I had a 3 year relationship with somebody I met in exactly the same circumstances about 15 years ago.

I just stopped alongside her one day said 'nice bike' she said 'thanks' I asked her where she'd got it etc, etc.

Two days later she was making me a cup of tea whilst I put a new cassette on for her.

    Then we shagged.

I have a Moots Rigormootis, nice bike but worth the money? Hmmm I think there might be a lot of self affirmation going on here.

I can't say that it rides any better than a few quality steel bikes I have had in the past and even if it does, not in a way that is commensurate with how much more it cost.

If I was making the same choice now I'd go custom steel tbh.

if we invented a new word on this forum and used it regularly, how long would it take before it appeared in print?

Great idea. Lets revive some 80's slang…personally I miss the word 'Kushty'

    Cockpit – It's a bike and not a f***ing harrier jump jet.

Running – As in 'I'm running <insert generic brand here> forks.' Again, it's a bike and not a nuclear submarine

Alderney is fine, beaches are nice and will make for a nice relaxing break. We often nip over for a weekend. If you get bored book a flight to Guernsey (10 mins and £35.00) and I'll take you riding…as long as you are around 5'11 and can fit one of my bikes.

Just bought a Focus Cayo 105 myself, also tried the CAAD 9. Both very nice bikes but the Cayo just edged it for me.

My whole wedding cost less than £3k. The secret was to only give MrsSP 4 weeks notice, that way nobody had enough time to interfere.

I live in Guernsey and echo what Geetee and Burts have already said. In terms of riding there is not too much for MTBers but some nice quiet road routes and stunning views.

A few of us MTBers turned roadies meet up every Sunday for a quick lap of the Island – about 22 miles, finished off with a pint or two of Roquettes – the local cider.

You're welcome to join us, though I suspect the numbers will down on usual this Sunday (Sat night BBQ). PM in profile. I can even lend you a MTB or road bike

Guernsey. My commute is along the coast, max speed limit is 25mph. Stunning views across the English Channel when on a good day you can see Sark and Herm…on bad day you can see Jersey!
