Whatever you choose, try to get a bike without a small plastic container attached to the front wheel.

You’ll experience much less rolling resistance IMHO

I’ve got a Moots Rigormootis which I’m pleased with, probably considered a bit old fashioned now – what with only being designed to have 80mm of travel up front. Still a classic though.

So it was good to get on a proper bike today and burn off some of the calories I’ve put on whilst in Sark – you have to eat and drink well in Sark. It’s the law

Did about 30 miles on the road around Guernsey, nice sea views pretty much everywhere. Very uplifting

Ian Brown Cycles here in Guernsey. On first name terms with both the owners who always go out of their way to help. Started getting an automatic discount, once they saw I was going to be spending money with them on a regular basis and they have a workshop that lets me borrow tools, tells me how to fix something and then *sigh* fixes it for me anyway when I completely **** it up.

Only fly in the ointment was the little twerp that tried to sell me second hand brake pads as new. Which had come off my bike the week before.
