Yeah I’ve been with them in the past and had a claim sorted very quickly…. Would recommend! You can also make changes to the policy online without any admin fees to change. Sadly I was priced out so changed a few years ago

I’ve just stuck in my savings and enjoying the 5.3% returns paid daily into my account.

If you aren’t sure what to invest in the general consensus is to stick in an ETF and index funds. Something like the Vanguard S&P 500 – have a read up on it first!

Agree with Kramer – i stopped tracking my sleep years ago and feel all the better for it. Sleep anxiety is real!

I’ll still have nights where i have inexplicably poor quality but i don’t worry about it anymore…. then it doesn’t turn into a self fulfilling prophecy

Gone for a pair of these – https://planetx.co.uk/products/carnac-equipe-v2-cat-0-3-photochromic-sunglasses-stealth-black

    Cheers for the recommendation easily.

Honestly you can’t go wrong with Shimano rotors IMO

I run these and they are absolutely fine – https://www.merlincycles.com/shimano-sm-rt66-6-bolt-rotor-58403.html

£10 for the 220mm is a bargain price too

    I used these guys – https://bikerent.nyc/

Very painless process and seemed to be good value 2 years ago. Bikes are basic but felt rapid compared to my enduro rig! We basically cycled around the whole of Manhatten – New York is a great place to cycle. Very jealous

Been pretty happy with my freerider pros over the years but opted to try these which are a bargain atm :

    https://www.merlincycles.com/giro-latch-mtb-shoes-276352.html

Only been out once but the grip seems the same as freerider pros and enjoying the slightly firmer sole. Seem well made and more weather proof too. Worth a punt at £40

Yeah i’d still go and have a mess around. The steep woods section has a fair few tracks through it which are fun to session.

As Keefezza says most of the jumps are rollable anyway. Take a look at ben cathros video ‘how to jump’ – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IB5GmIL0slg&t=748s this taught me the basics before having any coaching.

Top PSA this – ordered 4 sets so total of 16 pads for less than £40

Always loved the kevlar pads from superstar so a no brainer

I’ve barely seen any bees… Halifax skirtcoat green area. Garden is usually a hive of activity this time of year too. Very concerning.

We usually do one of two rides :

Longer all day epic just about getting in some good kms off road as much as possible but trying to tie in some good descents to make the hills worth it.

Shorter in distance but usually more climbing – winch and plummet trying to take in as many descents as possible. Riding around Hebden Bridge you’re either going up or coming down.

Enjoy both in equal measure and usually depends on the weather how long i want to be out for. I’ve got a 150/150 do anything bike which helps a lot.

    Interesting

Not sure if it’s the chain I’m using but I’ve never seen my drip wax run off using the ‘wrong method’. Perhaps it’s because i ensure it’s thoroughly dry before applying – seems to spread nicely after 20 pedal turns

Since switching to drip waxes i’ve never really noticed the cassette getting dirty – a wonder really with the conditions we’ve had. Can’t see myself ever returning to dry/wet lubes

Yeah cheers @bens i also got a 240mm for a nice price. Lets just hope it fits the frame now!

Grabbed those rockshox Yaris for £179 – don’t actually need them but figured it’s not much more than a full service on my forks!

    Was a time agreed Kramer?

Had an interesting relationship with sleep – never an issue for me until my mid 20s where i experienced some, likely very normal, difficulties. I then got very into the whole wellness sleep hygiene stuff which was just taking off at the time. This just made the issue worse ultimately and i suffered from sleep anxiety. I try to be a lot more relaxed about it now and generally it’s good – never go to bed until I’m literally falling asleep so never have an issue drifting off.

Early wakings do still plague me however, especially if I’ve got things to be up and out for. Be interested to hear your thoughts on that, it’s like a part of my consciousness  doesn’t believe me when i say I’m more relaxed about sleep hygiene.

Cheers for the PSA! Went for XL in the trousers as i’m 6 foot 4 with long legs and find mtb pants ride up. Fingers crossed they do the business.

Thanks for this one! Got a spare deore 6120 for the rear hanging around and been meaning to get a front for the mrs bike….

Nice xmas gift this… She’ll never know the bargain price haha

Managed to get a Jet Black Volt when they were on offer from Evans for £200 – its a re-badged zwift hub so quality is very good. Don’t think you can get them anymore but i’m classing it as a budget trainer – it’s been flawless and works brilliantly. So much so we got another one to avoid swapping bikes over! Was looking at the pinnacle but couldn’t find any decent reviews so felt a risk with reliability being the main concern. Good to hear it’s working for others.

    I’d say go for it!

Ordered some DT Swiss bargain wheels and rotors on Monday – 65% off! – order still processing so taking a lot longer than usual. Not in any rush however so fingers crossed it’s nothing sinister… but more importantly hope there is haribo

Looks great from the menu – shame it’s not my local as i’d be in there every week. Best of luck with it all hope it’s going well.

Trails were mostly ok.. much better than I was expecting after 3 weeks of rain. Copley cracker descent had turned into an actual stream however!

Thinking about pulling the trigger on these but have a few n00b questions first.

I’ve got shimano deore M6120s currently which i’ll handdown to the wife.

-Will my current adapters work for the evos? assuming same size of disc.
-I’ve read they use the same brake pads as shimano 4 pots. Coming from the M6120s and having several pairs lying around i’d be interested if this was true.

Found some 2.3m thick rotors here for not much https://www.merlincycles.com/trp-r1c-centre-lock-rotor-282010.html so shouldn’t be an issue with the rotors.

    Cheers

Nothing this month but I’ve had a good run up to now… Surely this means a big prize next month

I ordered some several weeks ago and nothing…. Just cancelled my order thanks for reminding me. Generic error about stock not being pickable at the warehouse and no timescales – why they continue to sell them is beyond me.

Ordered on the 27th Sept – still processing! Complete shambles….. In no rush to get them but worried i’ll simply forget if this drags on much longer! Sounds promising about others getting theirs so will hold fire another few days

£300 win here after 2 months of nothing….

Currently sitting on 4.9% return so pretty happy with that.

    Great PSA!

Been thinking about getting a smart turbo trainer for me and the mrs but haven’t done an awful lot of research into yet.

My hardtail is 11 speed so would fit this perfectly, hers however is an old 8 speed. How much of a PITA would it be to constantly be swapping the cassette and bikes? Would we be better off getting her a basic 11 speed road bike instead?

Practically what other bits would i need over and above :

    -11 speed bike
    -Fan
    -Mat
    -Phone to connect to

Thoughts and prayers for all those attempting in these conditions! Broke my scaphoid at bpw 2 weeks ago so was pretty devastated about missing ard rock – not feeling too bad this morning!

£350 this month after £225 last month…. Feeling pretty lucky! No doubt i’ll get nothing for months now.

I do have £40k invested however and have won £1025 since February so roughly 5% return if averaged out for the year.

As others have mentioned it’s more the chance of a big prize that excites me – no doubt will need the cash soon for house bits.

First time riding the event and must say we enjoyed it – very well organised! Lying on the grass outside the pub in the sun with a well earned pint felt tremendous. Managed sub 4 hours – towards the back but our first ever race and on pretty heavy enduro bikes i’m happy.

Will be back next year for sure. How many riders were there in total in the end?

I’m intrigued to see how these perform too. £160 (with discount) for both brakes and rotors seems great value, albeit the rotors won’t be useable for most serious folk.
