We used a tent stove down to -30 in Finland. Really toasty!

Failing that saw a program about someone in Alaska, they had the really counter-intuitive approach to wet their feet in a cold river and that was meant to help them keep warm. Have never tried it though…

If they are older nokia’s on symbian platform you’ll need the sms message centre set up.

We were also surprised several years ago when we moved out of flat. Our notice moved from what we thought was a month to 7 weeks! We told the letting agents that we’d move out asap if the new tennants wanted us to. My lady did the viewing, which she really enjoyed as a former letting agent and we ended up moving out early!

I was there for a week 7 years ago and it was one of my favourite places. These are some of the things I recommend:

Yosemite – a few hours away by car/coach but fantastic scenery
Alcatraz – I found it very interesting, especially as I love the film the Rock!
Golden Gate Bridge – hired a bike after visiting the rock and cycled to and over it
Haight Street – birthplace of hippies

Giant Redwoods – I wished I’d visited the national parks where these trees are, i’ll be doing that next time!

Based in Liverpool you say camo16….

Would you consider Ju Jitsu? The guys here have kids classes in Liverpool that I heard were popular. They also organise sessions for a blind and disabled children. We got them in to be our uni instructors. I trained with them for 6 years before I left the pool and moved back to Essex. Would definitely recommmend going to watch a class first wherever you decide to go.

cb and 2tyred – didn’t see your replies until now, been a tad busy.

They don’t give sold prices except once they accidently showed the reserve for every vehicle for that days auction. Prob won’t happen again! I’ve been down a twice to get a feel for prices. Felt like prices had gone up in the 8 months or so since I visited, though it could be down to time of year.

For auction prices use parkers or whatcar. Their auction prices are about a month out of date (according to my mate at work….).

Finally, Aston barclay does have a online live buy though I don’t know if thats open to public. Might be trade only. Would be worth looking at vehicle at site before bidding.

I had same problem. I’m on Virgin network with a Vodafone unlocked phone.

Have you got a proper micro sim, i.e. not a normal sim cut down to size? If not then you need one of those. The picture message settings are stored on a micro sim, unlike in normal sims where it is a phone setting. Also helps if software is up to date.

If you do have one you could try sending a picture message to yourself.

This is what worked for me: go into the app “Network Settings”. On the network selector switch back and forth between networks (say to orange, then back to vodafone) 3 or 4 times. Then try sending yourself a picture sms which will confirm whether it has worked or not. If you haven’t got the network settings app you’ll need to download it from the marketplace.

    Good luck!

Whereabouts are you based? Aston Barclay auctions in Chelmsford have fleet sales and there have been quite a few petrol C-Max from the motobility scheme for sale there. Fair proportion are autos but usually low mileage. Could be worth keeping an eye out on their website[/url]

I tow a Adventure AT3 trailer on my Kona Dawg, admittedly only the once so far but I didn’t fall into a pit of doom!

The trailer attaches via a bracket that I slot between my 10 thro axle and the dropout.

I don’t know if this will work for you but when I mentioned to future mrs sid’s father that I was going to pop the question I had the thought that she was incredibly close to her late grandmother so I also asked him about the possibility of using her engagement ring. He agreed and my fiance loves the ring. Its a small and thin wartime ring with a bridge of 5 diamonds on the top and some engraved patterns on it. It looks really nice, a little bit different and it has a lot of personal meaning to my lady.

If he swears often enough then he might get of the celebrity merry-go-round he so despises! Brilliant tactics.

My colleague was theorising about transgender atheletes. A few years ago they set a precendent whereby you have to have had the operation and been on hormone treatment for 2 years. Kind of foiled his bid to win a medal somehow!

We had a little girl last October and chose Aila. We both liked sound of Isla and then found this version which has finnish/scottish links. Her middle name is Isobel, but that’s the same for her mother and grandmother. I found girls names much easier to decide on than boys names. We were still thinking about boys names on the morning of the c-section (she was stubbornly arse down).

We called ours little sid during preganancy…

    Hit and miss.

Returning from Bergerac 2 weeks ago guy in front was having his bag weighed – 12.5kg and they were telling him to check it in for the princely sum of £50. He decided to take some stuff out rather than do that.

They weighed one of our bags as well but didn’t make my lady stow her handbag in one of our carry on cases.

Leftover from last year I have blueberries, garlic and purple sprouting brocolli.

    newly planted last weekend:

    elephant garlic
    carrots
    red and white onions
    french beans
    sweet peas
    courgette
    cabbage
    tomatoes

Quite like the idea of aspargus. Wouldn’t mind some more fruit like rasberries, grapes and perhaps a small apple tree. oh yeah, and we have an almond tree growing in the garden though not really harvested it!

The Swan Inn, you sure? I think it’s a mecca for bikers of another kind. I have vague recollections walking past it and seeing a leathered up chap walking into there with swastika tattoo on his forehead.

    Good suggestions so far.

If you fancy a pint whilst you watch a film then check out FACT by Bold street. Oh, you said no TVs!

I remember going to the Dispensary and really enjoying a hand pumped Cains cask lager (the local brewer) and really enjoying it. I was more or a lager drinker in my uni days.

Fly in the loaf on hardman street (not far from Philamonic) has a good selection. Don’t know what its like now though I wouldn’t have gone there on a weekend a few years back.

I reckon you ‘save’ £2.48 by doing a 10k each day. That doesn’t take into account any interest earnt whilst you have the positive balance. If you forget to do it one day then it would have have been cheaper to pay the fee.

+1 for the martial arts club.

I found Ju Jitsu great, nothing like getting thrown into the mat a few times and returning the favour to get some energy/frustration out.
