I looked into the Zephyr one a while back but the price put me off. Didn't seem to be an easy way to order one either. Just glad Sports tracker are selling them now….

I'm jealous of your N900 and understand why you wouldn't take it out with you – my N97 was meant to be a power device but it's way to buggy.

I've had occasional tug-jobs from unknowns on my commute.

I usually introduce myself at the first lights/stop and I'm happy to take a turn at the front.

That sounds so wrong, but nice to see politeness still in evidence…….

I had a go on one yesterday, not on any challenging terrain or anything, but it felt really good. Shame as I've just spent a small fortune upgrading my 07 Dawg with some top quality kit. I really want one now!

Because it was part of my dads nickname for me before and after I was born – the full title is Sidney Sideboard. I'm lucky, he called my older brother Sidney Mincing!

    I like this mantra:

"I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6".

Well done for surviving. I think you are lucky to come out of it unscathed.

I had a pair of Hudsons with thin soles and I wanted to avoid the leather wearing and becoming too soft so I got Timpsons to add a rubber patch to the front half of the sole. Replaced that rubber a few times but the sole remained in good nick and they lasted ages.

I'm not to fussed by wasps, I try and stay calm when they're about

I was on holiday in Finland as a kid dangling my feet in the water and I found a dragonfly with wasp marking sitting on my hip. I was petrified!

Bought a set of avid codes last year; awesome service. Ordered late on a tuesday night and arrived thursday morning!

Got stung by import tax but total price was still £60 below cheapest I could find in UK. I don't hold import duty against them.

    Recommended.

I'm kinda keen on a build up of Red Pro II's, black spokes, red nipples and black XM719. I thought maybe CRC aren't likely to do a sale on wheels they build up or have they done so in the past?

If by browser you mean your nokias web browser then it is different. The maps are viewed in the viewranger software and tie in with the gps for location etc. I think the viewranger downloads the mapping data as you go – there is an option to view offline but I don't know how wide an area this covers.

I think you have access to the open source cycle and street maps. Ordanance survey maps are an optional extra. I think there is a free trial for the OS side of things but I haven't fully worked it out yet.

No experiences of dogs so won't offer any advice there.

From what I surmise I think it's admirable that you have taken on this dog with all her problems and you have clearly had her welfare foremost in your mind. I think to continue to do this, and to also prioritise your welfare higher, you should allow her to be re-homed somewhere better placed to meet her needs. It is a very strong step and a sign of your care for her admitting that you might not be best placed to look after her.

This is different but my girlfriend had a high emotional attachment to a pair of cats but they lived in a flat with no safe access outside. She could see it wasn't ideal and finally agreed to let a lady in her parents village who wanted cats to take them on where they had the quiet country life and could go outside. Although she misses the cats and felt at the time she was derelict in her duties to the cats, she is much happier now knowing they are happy. At the time, she needed the cats more than they needed her.

Anyway, good luck in resolving this. I hope your feeling and happiness take more prominence!

When I did my Mech Eng degree back in '99 i found the maths, and the whole course, in year 1 easier than A levels (maths, physics and B.S.).

Years 2 and 3 however raised the bar though and I especially found the 2nd year difficult. I came out with a good old desmond in the end.

To what extent the social side of things distracted me is up for debate but I think if I went back now I'd do a lot better.

If I was doing it again I think I would do a sandwich course with a year in industry. You get some experience with an engineering workplace that should help with a job at the end and you might find the industry/company you like or know where not to work!

I just today bought a 15" BeOne Karma 2.0 frame from CRC for a bargain price. Whenever I broached the subject of doing up a bike for lady sid she always discouraged it but now I've gone ahead and done it she loves the idea!

Thanks for all the top tips chaps. Saw the "little lady" bike thread but not the comfy saddle one so will peruse.

If i get it tonight woooh! Two nights on the bounce, it'll be christmas all over again

I've shown her pics of the frame and the complete bike also and she's really excited. She loves the look of it and doesn't want pink anywhere near it!

    I use it, bloody awesome!

I discovered it on my N95 and was mortified when I upgraded to an N97 and found it didn't have an official version of sportstracker released. Managed to find a verion that worked though.

The altitude could do with being more accurate. Also, Nokia only released a heart rate monitor bundled with the sporty N79.

I think the heart rate monitor only came bundled the N79 when I was looking into getting one for my phone, yI couldn't seem to find one anywhere.

    Thanks for the replies.

I was thinking more along the lines when I see posts mentioning that a shock is tuned to a specific bike, do they mean the rebound/compression low/med/hi settings or are there some other settings that are tuned for the bike that I'm unaware of?

I have seen RP2's on CRC with the correct rebound/compression settings and I'm thinking maybe I don't need the adjustability (and cost) of the rp23s.

    Cheers

Glad I found this thread before I started a new one but I have a question:

I found out the compression/rebound settings that are on the RP23 version of my bike. If I find an RP2 with the same settings will it perform exactly the same but with less adjustability or is there some other tuning I'm not aware of? My budget probably won't strecth to the rp23 if I want to get anything else upgraded!

the Alumni 9 sub that I have goes into standby when it doesn't recieve a signal.

Alright gents, here my little set up:

    Sharp Aquos LC40LU700
    Onkyo 577 configured in 7.1
    PS3 Slim 250GB
    V+ HD box
    Cambridge Audio D500 CD player
Mordaunt Short Mezzo 2 (front L+R)
    Mordaunt Short Alumni 5 (Centre)
Mordaunt Short Alumni 2 (sides L+R and rear L+R)
    Mordaunt Short Alumni 9 (Sub)

The only drawbacks, the girlfriend always thinks its too loud! And with so many remotes they keep falling of the arm of my sofa and making her jump, she's easily scared! Might start looking into harmony one although the Onkyo remote can control tv and fair amount of V+ box, just not the PS3 or CD player.

Question @ thebikechain: have you had to deal with interference? I'm getting it from central heating timer and thermostat controls to my side and rear speakers. I get a horrible squawk every 5-10 minutes or so when the CHS is on! Ta
