Al – If I was a self made hard working millionaire who came from nothing I woud love myself!! and I wouldn’t say he’s particularly boring – there’s alot more boring people out there who are alot more offensive than big Dunc. Saw him on a tv show (surprise surprise) getting interviewed and he was far from arrogant and egotistical, a bit ‘timid’ and ‘out of his depth’ even

There’s a lot of jealous people on here……and that will make Dunc smile! OK, he appears to be a total **** but hats off to the guy, there’s no denying he’s pretty good at what he does. No silver spoon either, just hard work with alot of right decisions.

I wasnt implying that helmets should be worn, just wondering why there isn’t any legislation surrounding it when there is for pedal reflectors.

Danti – not a numpty question as I’ve asked the same about swapping my 700 for 29 tyres and had mixed responses of definitely not and definitely can be done – so I’m still with the 700s. Anybody know for definite without a shadow of a doubt if they are interchangeable?

Each £25 order you get £5 off so try and make lots of small orders – £100 on one order its obviously only a 5% discount, £25 and its a 20% discount.

Yelp as if in pain, fold arms and turn head to look away from dog…… ……….might take a couple of times and you feel an idiot doing it but it really does work.

Got a Spanish Water Dog two years ago and the lady who we got her off was a dog trainer and she swore by the ‘click and treat’ method and I’ve definitely had good success with it (plenty of web sites if you’re interested) …….but never used it for nipping as the treat was used to praise, something you dont want to do with nipping/biting.

What we were told to do was that if she ever nipped too hard just act like another dog would (no, dont bite back although it might work!!?)and let out a large yelp demonstrating that the nip hurt, turn your head without turning your back on your dog and fold your arms (turning head and folding arms also works a treat to prevent jumping up at you). Its all about getting in to the dogs mind apparently……..she was a bit of a mad woman we got our dog off but her life was dedicated to dogs and she knew what she was talking about!! Everything she told us to do has worked, admitedly not always first time but always after a bit of perseverance.

Remember…….yelp loudly as if in pain, fold your arms and turn your head as if you are ignoring your dog. Sounds crazy but it really works!!

had problem with moving seat post, (one that came with the bike so you would assume it was a perfect fit??!)which was remedied by using a little carbon grease on post. The carbon element (particles?) in the grease is enough to stop all movement………i guess what I’m trying to say is that a very small addition of somethign ‘extra’ (coke can, carbon particles for example)can make a huge difference, but I suppose that depends on the extent of the movement.

Anglesey has the best beaches IMO. Easy to get out of the wind too – just go to the opposite side of the island to where the wind is blowing from!

Had the same problem, gently eased pads apart……apparently its the worse thing I could have done as bent the pin the pads sit on so pads will not sit straight/flush. Luckily a new bike going for first free service….under warranty and got it sorted but lbs gave me that knowing look when they said it could only bend if pads were eased back!! Too much force used maybe? Pushed too far back?

Had the same ‘dilema’ two months ago……..opted for p7 pro over the 456 as there was one in lbs I could test ride. Once I had had a ride I was convinced it was right bike fior me and I’m still thinking that to this day! I expect those with a 456 will be saying exactly the same though, they get good reviews on here

Very similar to Sturmey……..but not just leaves and stalks! The harvesters only bothered with the big buds and left all the small ones for a lucky passer-by, me!

Got my montane gear from TK Max cheap unexpectedly (featherlight trousers are good in the wind and cold, poor in rain; H2O jacket ok for my 30min commute if its drizzling and havent worn the cycling gilet yet so cant report on it…….but all cheap from TK’s) Pleased with them as they were a bargain and do the job in ‘mild’ conditions but would be disappointed if paid full price expecting complete waterproofing.

I agree witgh you z1ppy……we should try and stop the ‘them and us’ scenario cos at the end of the day we’re all out to enjoy the outdoors, its just the arrogant riders of both horses and bikes that spoil it for the ones trying to find the middle line. I live in West Wirral where it is said it has the highest number of horses per capita in England (dont know if its true but there do seem to be hundreds of them!)so I’ve got to be tolerable of horses!! Just got to be wary too!!

z1PPY, I hear what you’re saying, horses use the roads long before machine……..but roads are geared to cars (and bikes) unfortunately, not horses which is a shame. Dont get me wrong, I believe horses have just the same rights on the road as cars…… but if someone is ‘in control’ of a dog on a lead that has a blemish-free history which suddenly snaps at a passer by everyone is up in arms about it (as I would be, but if a horse goes out of control most people are up in arms over the reason (cyclist or motorist)why its bolted/scared. Animals cannot be 100% trusted and the bigger the animal is the more dangerous the results can be if they go out of control. I agree totally with ricochet rob – any signs no matter how small that a horse is easily spooked on the road then they shouldnt be on the road, no arguements, a hazard to all road users.

Many moons ago (30years) my mates mum died when an out of control horse (with rider) went through her windscreen after she had stopped in a narrow road well before reaching the horse to let it pass….she too was a horse rider so was (presumably) giving the approaching rider lots of space and time to pass.

waihiboy – picked it up new from lbs about 8 weeks ago so I’m assuming correct seat post but will check. I’m taking it back for its first free service v soon when problem will hopefully be solved but I just want to know what’s wrong with it. Like you I’m tightening the clamp sooooooo much – has started to bend the lever already, not happy!!

I’m liking the idea from tinsy of bit grease on seat post and lube on clamp – never had any problems the first few weeks so I’m thinking grease and lube might have dried by now if it was on there originally ………..but it still shouldn’t happen, there shouldn’t be a need to use grease and lube.

Thanks for all your advice…..will be going home to get out the talc, some lube, some grease and a beer can – sounds like a dirty afternoon ahead!!

Is it just a case of cutting a piece of aluminium section fromt the can and curving it to fit in ther frame. Im assuming you’ve got to bend the top to form a lip so it doesnt fall in to the bike frame when taking seatpost out?

Having the same problem, first free service this weekend so keeping my fingers crossed . Will post remedy if lbs forward in telling me how they (hopefully!) fixed it

Tinribz….have tried your suggestion and it did lessen the rubbing but still noticeably rubbing, seems piston not retracting fully.

Was fixing a puncture last night to find that air was escaping from either side of the lezyne……..and that was the second lezyne patch on the same puncture as first one failed too – I shall not be using them again.

Got a P7 pro a few weeks ago…….I can imagine the ‘normal’ P7 to be great fun too for an off the shelf bike, and within budget
