To answer my own question, i have just read the thread in question.

How do people feel when industry types post about the stuff we/they sell? I like how STW are cool about posting certain stuff, you certainly do not get any freedom on any other bike forums regarding a bit of product plugging.

There is a fine line between lots of mindless plugging clogging the forum up and posting information up that some people might find helpful and useful.

Neil, I have no experience of the cloud nine to be honest, I'll put the question to the guys at Chumba.

Chumbaevo (Alan) is or has been riding a CCDB for a little while, from what he has told me he says it is very good, as you would expect! Expect a review of sorts over on MTBR soon from Alan at Chumba.

I know it is a different beast to the VF2, but what forks are you running on your Helius AM?

Well, the guys at Chumba have just got a shock back from CC, so it looks like i will be giving it a go!

I do have reservations, more to do with the fact that a 140/150mm air fork will feel out of its depth, but maybe a PUSH mod will help that out?

Here is an VF2 with a CCDB, really looking forward to sticking one on my own VF2!

UK-FLATLANDER, did you speak with CC about how you wanted the shock valving, and did it take much to set up to how you like it?

Si what is the new swing link?

There is a new swing link available that will lower the BB by about 1/4 inch and make the HA about 66.5. It is best run with a coil shock due to the leverage, but imo would be a great shortish travel FS for the UK 🙂

OK, name one example of a strong (jump strong) 4" travel bike with at least a 23.5" top tube, 17" continuous seat tube, a head angle slacker than 67.5 degrees (without running overly long forks), capable of running a front mech which could be built to around 32lbs.

The Chumba XCL with the new swing link is similar to what you describe.

does it have to have a 4X in the name? What qualifies a 4X bike?

The CCDB is currently being worked on by Malcolm at Cane Creek to work with the VF2 and XCL, should be ready in 2 weeks, can't wait!

How much Si and what about the XCL, will you be able to get the CCDB as OEM on that?

I should be able to do the VF2 with CCDB for about £1799, only £200 more than stock price. If you are interested drop me a mail, i may be able to sort something out for you. XCL should again be about £200 more than stock (£1499 instead of £1299).

Also, I heard that Chumba were mulling over producing a version of the XCL with a slacker HA and lower BB

There is a XCL available with a different linkage piece, gives a lower BB (about 1/2") and slacker HA (66.5 ish)

should be same price as normal frame when bought new.

I have a medium XCL that has been used about 4 times, can do for about £850 ish. Also have a VF2 medium frame in black, bit more money though.
