braylee8- what you describe the Vf2 of being is just that, a trail bike. However, Chumba do like to over build their frames, and as a result the VF2 can be built a bit heavier as an AM bike with 160mm forks, double bash etc.

Don't worry about the bob, i certainly don't, and i tend to use the Propedal in the 1st setting and it is fine.

dipper, i plan on popping a CCDB on mine, once CC pull their fingers out and send me one and the one for your F5 🙂 Might even get the RP23 PUSHED to see what that will be like.

What wheels are you running on your VF2?

That will be fine. I plan to try a TALAS 36 myself. I have just had an email from Chumba with a cracking deal on the VF2 if you are interested?

Drop me a mail if so.

Would it take 36's, or would that invalidate the warranty? (formulating a plan)

The VF2 will take a 36, and i have had one customer do just that and a few in the US also. As long as your not 'hucking' the VF2 then the 36 will be fine as will your warranty 🙂

    Looks good Steve!

Probably the nicest looking blue Vf2 i have seen, understated and classy 😉

Hmmm, i may just stick with Fox, give the new FIT stuff a run.

Also just compared the prices and i pay a fair bit less for the Fox.

i thought i would love the chumba………worst frame i have ever owned.

    fair enough

not thought out at all, clearance issues, cable routing issues, and crap communication from the american side of the company………

i know you had issues but to be fair Ton i think the clearance issue (and cable routing to some extent) was due to the tyre and rim choice, which even though the tyre had clearance in the frame it would rub on the front mech, i dont think the frame was designed to be used with a massive tyre and rim combo. The Australia distributor and i both run other combo's just fine.

si is a great bloke tho, true to his word….

    Why thank you 😉

thanks guys, i probably give the Rev's a chance.

I can supply Fox 32's at very competitve prices (much cheaper than anywhere else!) but not so much with the Rev's.

Email me if you want a price 🙂

How about a Chumba HX1? Similar to the Santa Cruz, EBB for singlespeed duties will take up to 160mm and very versatile.

Chumba XCL, if it is not slack enough for you, there is an optional swing link to make it 1 degree slacker and a bit lower.

A pic of Forge's bike, don't think he will mind me posting it 🙂

I was over there on Friday and 'pushed' up a cracking looking cheeky trail just along from the one mentioned. I 'might' give it a go some time in the midweek when it is quiet.

Si, the VF2 looks very much a similar price as the other two.
spider2 can be had for ~£1500.
    Anything I dont know about?

If you drop me an email, i'll wow you with some prices 🙂

They are 3 very different suspension types, depends what you prefer really. I am biased but even i would say all 3 frames are very good, and obviously could not comment on the ride of the three bikes as that would not be fair.

The VF2 can be had MUCH cheaper than the other 2, which may help make your mind up 🙂

31.6 seat post, E-Type front mech.

Bearings are easy to change and are standard sizes so cheap to buy, not that they will need replacing for some time yet!

I should have bought Hora's XCL when it was on sale.

I have an ex demo XCL frame (ridden about 6 times) for much cheapness, and you will NEVER kill it!

Why not ask Alan from Chumba? Or are you trying to dig him out of the huge hole he dug himself over on mtbr.com?
A lot of people don't care about that stuff in the graph. Alan does, even though he hasn't got a clue what he's talking about.

I think that graphs are used by many more than just Alan at Chumba in fact that particular graph is from trek. Also I have seen loads of stuff from all manufactures. Fwiw i have never bothered with the technical drawing stuff, but sometimes it can help explain stuff.

How about a Chumba XCL or VF2., depending on how burly she would like the frame to be?

I can do deals on both frames 🙂

    XS XCL:

Or VF2 ( medium frame shown)

Of course I am biased but I am confident the xcl would be just as good if not better than the pitch on rocky stuff, due to the VERY stiff frame, which tracks like no other bike In it's class IMO. The pitch is a fine bike at the price point, make no mistake though!

ianv, if you fancy a XCL, let me know, and i'll see what i can do price wise….

About £900 with Recon Maxle and SLX wheels doesn't sound too unreasonable on a £500 frame.

That may be a little tight ( i need to make SOME money!) but i get your drift.

could you offer a sort of semi-custom deal, kinda like santa cruz where you have a couple of build options but with upgrades to forks?

possibly, but it would mean more stock to buy and ideally i would like to keep it simple, obviously if someone asked then bits could be changed for an up charge.

    Second the Chumba XCL 😉

Ideal as a messing around bike, tough as owt and also does XC pretty well!

I have a few offers on a couple of XCL's frames atm 🙂

Yep, I like them. Not as stiff as 20 mm but stiff enough for their purpose. Small bump is ok and the damping is great, they never really get fazed.

Chumba need some info regards who will be using the CCDB and also how they want it set up so Cane Creek can sort it out properly, any tips to pass on? 🙂
