On the way out to the Lakes on the right before you get to Kirkby. Loads of flags out etc the entrance is where there used to be a layby old bit of road raised up. Perhaps not explaining that well anyway on the main rd can’t miss it .

Clear silicone sealant you can buy small tubes from aquarium shops. Mask around the decal apply a smear to the decal wipe off excess. Will dry as good as glue and is waterproof.

Seems very grippy good climbing traction way better than the black chilli Mountain Kings I had at one point.

But as said seem to be able to fire into stuff without the feeling they are going to let go. Possible famous last words !

In West Yorkshire so a bit of everything has been dusty dry but now just a bit of dampness to the trails. Roll very well for the size too.

I had this with my Elixir’s as well tried everything to set them up correctly LBS even had a go.
Found quite a lot of threads on mtbr about the so caled Avid turkey warble noise. One suggestion was to try different rotors which I did swapping to Hope floaters which made it better but didn’t cure.
Gave up in the end and sold them on. This is my experience of them and the problem.
No doubt other people will be along to say they cured it or dont have it.

bigyinn because in mind if id stuck with std XTR mech and not lusted after the one I have it may have survived the scrape. So im blaming the fact it’s a shadow.

Thanks rob will get them cleaned up and then bodge glue it :D

knottie yes the outer looks like this now

The mech still works as its left a sort of thin backing but I wonder if the rigidity is now compromised. Considering epxoy/aralditing it back on ?

Having just snapped the bottom carbon derailleur cage of my XTR M971 shadow on todays ride I would say not. Lightest of glances on a wooden step down.

Now what glue for carbon ? :?

Did mine as well at the beginning of the week spent some time reading the various guides on the web. Bought the few bits and bobs to do it and went for it. Very easy now ive done it including changing the travel within my Reba’s.

    Well worth learning

Latest allthough off the road at the moment awaiting forks returning

And my other which is my second Soul

Well im a 39/40 chest hence going for the L it then arrived and shall we say it was a liitle more fitted than id like. Rang Always Riding up where I got it from, and the guy stated that they were close fitting and if I wanted a looser cut I should go XL.
Anyway that came and was better but was still very fitted. I kept it but quite sure a XXL would have been a better fit still.

Purchased a Gore L jersey and the fits perfect.

Perhaps call them up and ask there view on it.

The jersey I had was the Argyle sold it over on classifieds last week.

I found them small for the stated sizing I normaly take a L in Gore etc, but ordered a L Twin Six had to send back and get a XL which was still quite snug.

I would agree it is a shame as I think they are superb forks. I thought after they were fixed under warranty last year with all new parts that they would be right now. But to have them fail a second time is very dissapointing.
Got all my receipts and work sheets of the warranty work carried out so will be on the phone this morning.

So the travel drops/switches between 150 > 120 can you have/are you able to have any travel between the two say @ 140 ?

    shredder
    Full Member

Yes think I might ask for that option as they are still within the warranty period.

So it would seem have read some more accounts of it happening. The annoying thing is the forks went back last year for warranty work, as they were dropping through the travel. All sorts replaced at that point including
Air tube / Air valve / Air assem /
How many times can something be looked at repaired before it’s not fit for purpose ?

I never saw my SL as an out and out XC bike just a great trail bike. Slowly beefed it up a little with 10mm bolt through rear , flow rims and quite often ran my Revs at 150mm on it all suited it great.

So the SL-R would ahve brought all that, if it were me I would send the HD bck if you only have one shot at this bike.

I went through a similar thought process had a SL but wanted the Maxle rear tapered h/tube. So started to look at the HD in 140 guise as a beefed up SL replacement I suppose.
Then stopped as I realised it was a compromise to get those frame features.
I have gone down a different route with a Nicolai now, but had I not I would have bought the SL-R in a flash it’s the evolution of the SL but now lighter and tougher …….. perfect.

Not quite the same but I have had to return my 2 ride old M985’s as the seals would not seat properly (the one’s that sit within the gold nut) unsure of the actual part name.

Anyway im sure they will be sorted out and perhaps an exception but a little dissapointing.

All that said the pedals are superb in themselves.

Hope thats helpful in some way.

When I had my Mojo I deadened sound both with a normal chainstay protector. Also sought out a local rubber sheet manufacturer bought some adhesive backed thin ish rubber wiich I stuck to the inside of the seat stay etc. Looked neat and worked perfectly.

Also this was at one point advertised and talked about on the Ibis web site and mtbr forum.

Another snippet for you I have a friend who is a DP @ a VW commercial site currently. He used to work alongside me selling the three I mentioned and still says if it was his money it wouldn’t go on the VW.

Im not a VW hater have had lots of VW product as comp cars and like the brand but all things are not equal.
