“”I weigh 63kg.. do I need to loose any more? “”

the mega avalance is downhill isn’t it – you got plenty of time to put on some weight, i can put on 5kg over christmas no sweat. Have a few christmas dinners, a few extra units of booze every hour and a Terrys chocolate orange, that’ll speed you up on the decents!

“”I never believed or experienced that seat rails make much if any difference. Length, diameter and thickness of the seatpost are far more significant I reckon. “”

I don’t think this is really the case as i’ve had quite a few steel (853 – 725 and columbus) and Ti and they all had 27.2 seat posts – the exception was the external diameter of the ti bikes seat tube (it was a bit bigger) However they all road quite differently. I had a cove hanjob, one of the first ones, and it was really flexy, and for want of a better work zingy. I had a marin too, that was a harsher ride than my kona which has the ride i liked the most, not to flexy feeling, not as harsh as the marin. I think a lot to do with it is the shape and angles of the rear end, snake stays seem a lot flexier, the steepness of the angle of them affects the ride too – the steeper the less verticle complience – stands to reason don’t it.

maybe it’s a clever ploy but the person wearing sports gear to exploit the weather conditions and judicial system – after all why else would someone be there taking pictures? Is that Clarkson with the Mrs Blair – maybe the picture was taken by the private detective hired by Tony to get evidence of thier clandestine hook ups?

I worked in a Cannondale dealership for a few years, although i never serviced the forks i recall that you had to have a few specialist tools – amoungst others is a ‘crown tool’ or something like that, it looked like a castle on a chess piece – however there is a great guy in Exeter that services them cheap.

I didn’t realise my discarded fag butts were causing so such conern – I don’t like to offend STW’ers sensibilites, so forthwith I will be stopping the fags and switching to this

It’s a lot more enviromentally freindly as it’s reusable.

Oh and on road bikes nothing seems as smooth as my present Dura Ace chain and Dura Ace cranks – much smoother than my Campag. Then replaced the Dura Ace chain once it wore out with a KMC – not nearly as smooth. Also on a road bike the powerlink is less likely to be used so not so much reason to run not shimano.

it’s not just you – i run xtr on my merlin and it’s always been fine – the xtr chain shifted perfectly everytime (when replaced with kmc it seemed more agrocultural and never really ‘bed in’)

I run XO on my Titus now – it for my money isn’t as good – sorry i want to love it, it looks lovley but it just does not feel as tight if you get what i mean? also the only chains i’ve snapped have been sram 3 hollowpin jobbies – two at the powerlink – over the bars going uphill twice!

In order to be considered a classic won’t it have to last some time? Not sure you’ll see that many Sundays about in a few years.

We never got the smell of labradors out of our leather seats – we had to take a hit on the car when we sold it because we couldn’t hide the smell – seats faired ok on the scracthes thou (it was a volvo – a handme down from the in-laws- so not my choice)

Still going on? Well despite my apparent reputation for being a windger with nothing but negative threads (albeit i thought my what to clean your ears with and how to bag a looker threads where more upbeat and informative than anything else) I have something useful to add – if soemone else actually has something useful also it’d be appreciated.

and @ mr_a just because people approach things in a different way than you it doesn’t mean their intentions are wrong – you seem to have made your mind up about me one way or another, or hopefully confusing me with someone else – either way i’m not out to get you i don’t really know how/why that came across. Sit down – relax – have some ham.
