    I would recommend:
    Kl Tower (menara tower)
Cocktail at the skybar on roof of traders hotel opposite petronas – dont bother with trying to go up twin towers – unless you want a 6am queue and a crap view compare to above.

Go to petaling street (china town)
    Food at Haka near petronas
Then drinks at Changkat Bukit Bintang – little havanas, bar 21 etc.
For Breakfast ry to have Nasi Lemak or Roti Cani – both superb
Plaze Low Yat and Sunghei One are good for electronics and just mental experiences, jalan alor near Bukit Bintang is good for food.

If you fancy a jungle ride at the weekend – give me shout = can lend you a bike and take you on the local trails i ride every week.

    My malaysia mobi is 0173521669.

    Thanks all,
What about places to stay in these locations – are there bunkhouses or should i just use google – not sure it would be anywhere as useful as the STW collective though?

Thanks for all the suggestions so far.

    Keep em coming

I have a medium dw spot and it is superb, mine weighs about 29lbs with kings hubs, fox 36's, 5.1 rims, xtr everything except rear mech where i have a saint. It climbs well, descends brilliantly, is very stiff and just feels right.
Go for the turner every time IMO.

Guaranteed delivery surely means just that! Phoning from Malaysia is not so easy but I am and they do not answer…I have sent 3 e-mails and still no reply. It must be a nightmare being busy, raking in the cash and not sending stuff…customer service my ares!

How they they process on item for a week and take extra for spesh delivery and still **** it up?

Are there any others ways to get in touch other than those they suggest?

    Will keep trying.

I have had a new spot for 8 months, 30lb build. Full xtr, CK wheels on dt5.1's, tech m4's, maverick speedball post, gobi saddle, kenda 2.35 nevegals, fox talas 36's.

Bombproof, took it to Morzine in summer – awesome, great for xc, no bob, climbs well, descends better,

Worth the money – but I live in Malaysia and it cost 1400new, have also had HL 5 spot, nicolai helius cc etc. Still great.

    cheers

Tracer – nice bike but paint finish is utter sh**e
New DW Turner – awesome, climbs very well, downhill is superb but expensive initial outlay…
Have also rcently had a yeti 575 – worst bike I have owned in last 8 years…
Test ride all and then decide

    Evening all.
Usually around 38C here by 10.00am and then stays same till very late at night. Humidity of 80+ brings on a gentle sweat too…
    That’s Malaysia for you…
Off on a 40k jungle ride tomorrow with about 300+ others.

Nice and very hot but never too hot to ride…

Morning – well it is her in KL.
Take train from KLIA – about 25 minutes direct from there to central KL (station is called KL Sentral) – take Cab or another train from there max 10 minutes.
I would only stay at the Traders Hotel, roof top terrace has a nice pool and views of towers across park are amazing. Bit more than your budget though or very top end.
    I would visit Menara KL Tower, better 100% unobstructed view of all of KL and you do not have to queue or go there at 5.30am to get a ticket. The lake gardens, butterfly park, bird park are a great lazy day and very cheap after long flight. Petaling street is worth a visit for the ‘knock off’ genuine copy stuff.For a great meal the Mandarin Oriental buffet is the ‘dogs;

It is very hot and humid here so NO JEANS required, shorts and t’s only.
Mail me direct if any other questions.

    cheers

i have had the same issue twice when i have tried fitting two sets of floating rotors with king hubs and fox forks and both times i had to have the disc mounts on the foxs faced a fraction to avoid the rub, apparently it is quite common with the hope, king fox combo.

all the flex is in the back end and particularly under breaking, it is my first and last experience with a carbon rear – just feels strange and hard to say exactly, it may be to do with the suspension as have come from a nicolai helius cc and a 5 spot.

Looks great though and clearances are good but…..cannot love it….

Am really looking to see if i can get on an intense or new spot…

I have a 2009 575 carbon but cannot test a turner in the uk or here where i currently live in malaysia as the ‘do not do’ test bikes here, although bikes here are way cheaper. Good to hear the views, as usual they all slightly conflict with each other.
I could also consider a foes, 5.5 any santa cruz, ellsworth etc but those are the two that suit what i want more.

    keep the opinions coming
    cheers

Live in Malaysia, just outside KL, Petronas twin towers visible from my front garden. 35degrees everyday but awesome place to live and travel from. Also, more good quality bike pimpery here than most other places.

Lots of singletrack and technical downhill / freeride stuff as well as jungle trails on my doorstep. Very hot though…

At present have no desire to return to UK – sounds like it is going down the pan…and fast….

    cheers
