rode from 10-12 with 3 people i had never met until today, they pumped up my tyres, forks and rear shock and then guided me around all the new stuff that has been built since i was last here 2 years ago.

Pi$$ed it down the entire ride but good to be out. Frozen at the end….

    Good to be out though.

on the shock it just says – boost tune 175 – what i wany to know is what does the 175 mean and is there a different value for each bike/each shock/each rider etc.

i have seen some info about that being 175psi of nitrogen but still have no idea WTF that means…

    AARRGGHH!

Do you live here in Malaysia as they call a ride around the block a ‘Jamboree’.

SS will be a struggle IMO and the website is in Bahasa Malayu and has not been updated since december so good luck.

It will be approx. 35deg C and humidity around 85-90% so be prepared to sweat…a lot!

It would be a good idea to check it is still on, they do attract lots of riders normally (1000+) but many here are more interested in the so called ‘goody bag’ than the actual ride….

recoverite – made by Hammer Nutrition. A miracle in powder formula, seriously good…take within 30 minutes of finishing and again within 2 hrs if unable to eat.

It has really changed my experience considering the temp here in the jungles of malaysia and the terrain covered…

Look it up, not sure if available in the UK.

yes…I have had 2..the current is a litespeed built one. Currently about to try an Niner Air 9 Carbon so the frame is for sale. I would buy another one in a shot. I am 5′ 9″ and ride an 18″ with a 70mm stem and fit is perfect. Also had a HJ but sold as way too flexy for me.

Good luck and enjoy whatever you decide.

If you are in KL there is loads here, road biking is huge as well as MTB. I ride several times a week but it is 35 degress by 10am easily. The best place in KL is Kiara, near bangsar and sri Hartamas. I would recommend a full susser with 140mm up front at least.

Been here for 4 1/2 years and it is superb….mail me if want my number as may be around…

A mate has had this for a few weeks, after 2 damp rides the finish on the both cranks has started to wear off….

Saying that my XTR ones did more or less the same…

    Good luck!

    Hi James,
I have two Reverb and a good old gravity dropper, have also had joplins and a speedball and used a KS ones for a bit too. The Reverb is superb out the box, easy to fit and shorten hose, bleed kit is included, rebound speed dial is on the fly but not sure if much use, seals seem excellent, there is a very small amount of play if being picky but only when saddle is fully up, solution is to run it slightly further out of frame and therefore not use it fully extended, however it is not noticeable.

I have one on my Nicolai CC which is fully inserted into the frame which is a medium, but on my medium Nicolai FR there is more post out of the frame due to tube geommetry and standover differences.

Here in Malaysia I can get them for around 155 quid, which also makes it more appealing.

It is superb for the riding I do and sod all the skill compensation moaners – they are just jealous..

    Cheers

Make sure you have 180 mounts and a 180 rotor and not 180 mounts with a 183 rotor, sometimes this can click as the rotor collides with the spring and pin that hold the pads,

Been here four years and cannot see myself ever going back to the UK except to see friends and ride my bike there.

Came here with the wife, and 2 kids, just had a third.

Work hard but quality of life is much better, riding in the jungle and 35-40 degrees is just different but still fantastic. Travel ops are superb so far been to Vietnam, Thailand, Burma, Singapore, Cambodia, Australia, Bali and this year am going to NZ skiing, Borneo, Laos, maybe Sri Lanka and probably the Phillippines.

Occassionally miss things and friends – but real friends come over!

Yes, writing on outside as i had suspected. However, quizzed my local shop and they reckon the new XTR works more fluidly (less jumpy) if fitted with writing facing inwards but with 10 speed XT always facing out.

    Will try both and see!

It is most likely the pivot bolts, Turner – if you contact them will send you some new stainless steel ones. I think they refer to them as 'sex bolts' – not sure why but it stopped the creaking.

Also, try pumping grease into all the zirc grease ports – sometimes it is a bedding in issue.

    Good luck

Superb, well done, see it doesn't hurt does it!

The experience is truly terryfying and amazing at the same time – now have 3 boys that are 6, 4 and 3 months – not slept properly for at least 6 months…

Best advice is to sleep at every opportunity..
