I wonder if this will draw a bid by Amazon for Sainsburys. I heard a rumour they were sniffing around them and Morrisons.

Ever tried to kick a pigeon? Even if you target one with one eye and a limp you still can’t do it.

Nice going welshfarmer. I followed your advice and did the full FTP and came out at 184 so did my first group ride Saturday in the PACK sub 2 which I really enjoyed, although I find it harder to stay in touch on the downhill rather than the uphill. Lost touch on the way back to the station but put in a big effort on the first climb back in London and got back on. Did the ZBR Clyde/Athena group ride tonight but as soon as the event started I ended up on my own with nobody else in sight although there were 40 others in the event. I bimbled around and noticed I was 4 minutes behind then hooked up with a latecomer and we worked well together and picked a few stragglers off. Finished the event and got my FTP up to 195. It’s starting to get a bit addictive :-)

I also had a 3 series touring M Sport rickon and like you the potholes and rough roads made it a nightmare to drive. I now have a 3 series GT on 18″ alloys and the difference is amazing. It soaks up all the bumps and handles much better than any 4×4. You also get a 60mm higher driving position and a boot that is bigger than the touring. If you want 4×4 you can even get it in Xdrive.

In June Evans goes from 2x to 3x but some offers e.g. restaurants go from 4x to 3x as everything is standardised on 3x. I currently have £35 in Clubcard so that will be converted into £105 Evans vouchers in June.

If you want to use the 4x partners you should do before June.

Nice work on the weight loss welshfarmer.

I’m just moving onto a HRM and found that for apple fans the watch will work with Mobile Link. I have it installed but not tried it out yet.

Any zwift tips for an old, slow fat (91kg) bloke apart from stay off the beer and crisps? Done a couple of 1 hour+ sessions averaging 110 watts and enjoy the timed hill climbs and sprints. Are any of the group rides suitable or will I get left riding alone? What about the fitness plan rides?

I have a MacBook Pro and am about to buy a smart trainer. With both of these do I still need Ant± connector or can I just bluetooth the trainer to the MacBook? I also see they recommend using the App as well. IS this necessary and, if I do use it, how will trainer, app and MacBook all connect up?

You’re good to go Frank. Just download the app from the app store and it will pickup the trainer through Bluetooth. But if you want to use a HRM I think you will need ANT+ (anyone confirm?). I’ve got an old TV mounted on the wall in the garage and run a usb-c to HDMI cable from the MacBook to the TV.

Summary: The Queen’s Speech has confirmed that the General Data Protection Regulation will form part of UK law following the country’s withdrawal from the European Union. The Speech noted that “Over 70% of all trade in services are enabled by data flows, meaning that data protection is critical to international trade.”

I did the same as you MW early January and now have zero marketing emails. The only one I had a problem with was BT who don’t always put an unsubscribe link in their emails. I had to raise a formal complaint to get removed and even then they said it could take 28 days to work through the system. I’m looking forward to them getting hammered when GDPR comes into effect.

Just seen this thread and we have started cooking from the current Tom Kerridge Lose weight for Good program. There are a whole bunch of brilliant recipes in the book and he majors on big flavours and low calories. Worth looking at the first couple of programs on iplayer if you missed it and then getting the book if it appeals.

The Madison Merino Deep Winter socks have worked for me. One of the guys at Twelve 50 bikes in Frodsham suffers from cold feet and swears by them. Only cost £8.99

Against hunting with foxhounds, but I’m OK on drag hunting with bloodhounds. The bloodhounds are only trained to follow human scent so there’s no scope for ‘accidental’ killing of foxes.

I would however recommend a chain stay protector just to stop the noise.

I find the noise of the chain on Ti quite agreeable :-)

Ascend 1 is £90 and the Ascend 2 is £125. What’s the difference and which one should I go for? Also, any other discounts for CRC knocking around :-)

Try Jon Rose at lpgcompare.co.uk who provides a free service.

Here are the deals he got me back in May but I ended up staying with my current supplier Flogas as my tank was not accepted by the companies he got quotes from. Flogas price matched the deals below.

As requested I have found 2 deals, the first is with a supplier called Calor who is offering 33p fixed for 12 months with a 3.5p cap in year 2 and £250 of FREE gas and tank rental is £94 per year.

Calor Gas is a national supplier and considered by many as the market leaders with over 77 years of experience. They have grown from strength to strength helping domestic users of LPG get reliable service with at a good price. Their Head Office is in Warwick and has strategically placed depots around the country to enable them to supply the whole of the UK.

The second is with Avanti Gas who is offering 28p fixed for 12 months with £150 of FREE gas and with a cap of 3p in any 6 month period during the 2nd year and rental is £110 per year.

Avanti Gas is a national supplier who purchased Shell LPG around 5 years ago, since the acquisition they have grown from strength to strength helping domestic users of LPG get reliable service with at a good price. Their Head Office is in Chesterfield and has strategically placed depots to enable them to service the whole of the UK.

Paying 31p a litre for bulk lpg and £75 per month on DD so not that expensive these days compared to mains gas. Which area are you in futon?

I appreciate it’s a working forest, but they seem to have gone all out to just trash it.

Not just me then. They seem to have gone for a thinning approach rather than clearing and coincidentally(?) trashed the best bits. Just noticed yesterday the section where they had the very old north shore next to the 4x has been the latest victim :-(

Do you keep a food diary GC that you can trace back to your symptoms? I’m coeliac but also find that caffeine sets me off as does processed meat, particularly chorizo.

I think a few of us are stretching the ‘lately’ part of the original question so I’ll chip in with The Barrytown Trilogy by Roddy Doyle. Most people know The Commitments from the film, but The Van and The Snapper are also very entertaining if you have ever spent any time in Dublin.

The British Steel pension just got a mention on 5 Live at around 1820. Seems like so called Financial Advisers have been convincing members to transfer out when its the wrong option. Well worth a listen on catch up for those affected.

One of my colleagues set up an AWS Cloud instance with an open port to the internet which quickly attracted a bitcoin miner installation. So rather than stealing data the hacker was stealing CPU cycles, very clever, especially if you do this at scale.

Most of the mid life crises above seem to be just shopping decisions.

the acceleration in the change of retirement date meant the increase to 67 was 3 years notice for some women that their retirement date would be 67

The Pensions Act 2014 brought the increase in the State Pension age from 66 to 67 forward by eight years. The State Pension age for men and women will now increase to 67 between 2026 and 2028.

So how does that equate to 3 years notice?

are all her customers this dishonest

Guilty as charged m’lud. I assume you have never asked “how much for cash mate?”.

Bottom line is that most people will try and get away with paying tax if they can.

because you are incredibly wealthy , perhaps a millionaire or a billionaire and you want to make sure you pay less tax as a percentage of your massive income than a cleaner.

Dunnno about you lot…. but i like Ling more than i like the OP now

Agree, especially when he resorts to this.

Interesting that whilst you’re slating my credit rating that your company has a few charges against it registered? I’m not so sure your business is the healthy business you claim, presuming you’re mortgaged to the eyeballs to keep your face on youtube…

Showing your true colours again GeordieMick?

Some good info here if you are interested in consumer law facts instead of bear baiting https://www.gov.uk/guidance/unfair-terms-explained-for-businesses-full-guide

    In particular:

    Customer cancellations

When you are not at fault, you only seek to recover losses that you have reasonably incurred

You set non-refundable payments or cancellation charges so they reflect a genuine estimate of what you will lose directly because of the customer cancellation

Be clear with customers up-front about your deposits, advance payments and cancellation charges. Provide details of when these are required and why.

Has ling has done this in her posts?

I had a similar experience with these guys with some DMR pedals which took about 3 weeks to arrive. Nice enough to deal with when you do speak with them but I wouldn’t use them again if I was in a hurry for something.
