Here’s a bit of an odd request. Does anyone have a Livestrong bracelet (preferably new) they want to pass on? I’ve looked online but just seeing options to pay around a tenner without any sign of the money going to charity and although I can buy one form the Livestrong website for $1 they want $167 shipping. I’ve just started chemo and the odds are looking very good for a favourable outcome, but for some weird reason I’m fascinated by the Lance story and obviously the cancer angle is something that is now relevant to me. I’ve read a few books and seen most of the documentaries so well aware of his narcissism and his shocking treatment of Betsy Andreu, Emma O’Reilly, David Walsh, Greg LeMond, Simeoni et al.

Happy to chuck a tenner in to a cancer charity if one gets sent through.

A couple of foodie ones for a relaxing weekend viewing.

Chef’s table – BBQ series is my favourite so far, who doesn’t like cooking with fire. 85 year old Tootsie in episode 1 is an absolute star.

Also, watched Fat, Salt, Acid, Heat back to back last weekend. Heat was a disappointment but the other 3 very good.

The UCI didn’t award the TDF wins to anyone else which says something in it’s self

100%. All other podium placers in his 7 tdf wins were implicated in drug taking apart from one.

Sounds scary Rich and glad you are on the mend. I’m still without taste and smell after a month but not at all complaining considering what you and others have been facing. Good luck with the rehab.

So did you sellout at your break even price of $93 Fuzzy or are you sitting on a loss now?

    I actually bought $500 more @ $207 and sold at $240

So how does this work? Are you buying partial shares?

Lump sum. I’m in a slightly different situation and just about to do a transfer from DB into a SIPP as my medical situation is a bit complicated. Not serious enough to stop me having a bloody good time for a few years as soon as we are able to and at least I can pass the dregs on.

Well from my point of view shorting sucks. I have shared in the US company I work for and it has been shorted to a lesser degree than GameStop. Ok our results have not been outstanding but the share price has dropped by half since I got them.
To the question above about the end game, simple, greed. And that applies to hedge funds, Reddit forum users and of course yours truly 😂

Recently got my Ooni Koda 12 gas and seeing mixed messages on whether it will run off Butane instead of Propane. I already have 2 x Butane bottles for the gas BBQ so ideally I’d like to keep the clutter down by not having to get a Propane bottle.

Ooni support say -Ooni Koda has been designed for use with propane gas (patio gas) only.

But on amazon there are some dissenting voices:
    Q. Will it work with Butane?
A1.Ooni Koda is certified for use with butane and will fire up with butane. The included regulator is for propane and so this would need to be swapped for a suitable butane regulator.
A2.We would recommend you stick with propane in regards to the gas used.
A3.I have been running mine on Butane from day 1 with no issues.

    What say STW?

    Bump. You OK?

Much better thanks gray. Doctor put me on antibiotics and my average resting heart rate has gradually come down from 85 on Wednesday to 61 yesterday.

Had another positive Covid test on Saturday which meant my biopsy planned for tomorrow was in doubt, but when I explained my first positive test was 28/12 they decided to go ahead which is a relief. Still an outside chance it will be cancelled but when they start cancelling cancer biopsy procedures we really are in deep trouble.

What’s the personal allowance these day… About £12k. Which leaves me £12k taxed at 20% I think.

Which equates to around 11% IINM. Which is very much lower than 40%

You forgot about the 25% tax free lump sum, so if you are putting £24k into a draw down account each year you will get £6k tax free plus your £12k personal allowance leaving you to pay 20% on the remaining £6k = £1,200 tax on £24k income. Sweet!

From Monday my plan is sling my laptop bag over my shoulder and walk down to the local station which is only 200m from my front door. Stand on the platform for a couple of minutes then walk back, unpack and start working. Not sure if it will make a difference but I did read you should try and put some kind of buffer in between getting up and starting work.

Tested positive on the 28th but symptoms have been quite mild, mainly loss of taste and a bit fatigued. I’ve been tracking my heart rate and oxygen saturation using a consumer unit and its been constantly showing 60 for the heart rate and 98% for the oxygen. Tried it again this morning when I woke up after a bit of a restless night and heart rate was 108 and 95% for the oxygen. Currently 98 pulse and 97% oxygen so I’m getting checked out by the doc in an hour as a precaution .

    Re-build manufacturing? Dream-on…

This +100. It’s all well and good talking about how we’ll be able to do great trade deals with other countries and emerging markets, but what have we got to trade?

Mrs S picked it up in hospital just before Christmas as she tested negative on day 1 and positive on day 3 which meant she couldn’t have an operation on December 24th. She then passed it on to me which meant my biopsy planned for December 29th was cancelled and she’s now back in a Covid ward for 5 nights until her op on Tuesday. We’ve both got fairly mild symptoms and hoping it stays that way given the underlying health issues that have recently sprung up.

I’m sure some of you know or are frontline health workers so pass on our thanks as they are doing an incredible job under extraordinary conditions.

First of all congratulations on getting VR. Assuming your last day is December 31st won’t your payoff come through in the January pay run? If so you should be able to ask HR to put through a change to make a £xxx contribution to your pension.

I watched My Octopus Teacher on Netflix the other week, amazing film – A filmmaker forges an unusual friendship with an octopus living in a South African kelp forest, learning as the animal shares the mysteries of her world.

Having read the replies any consideration to stretching your budget to the £12k that would get you the Kona SE? Money is cheap these days and if you have a good credit history you should be able to get an interest rate of less than 4%. Plus you get a car you know you already like.

Some good advice on here which I need to look into in more detail. I’ve found that lentils are one of the triggers for me.

The stress thing about getting caught short is a big one for me and before a ride (also getting on a plane) there will be two visits at home followed by another one when I arrive by car at our start point. And of course making sure I carry some toilet paper in case I need a ‘wildy’ out on the ride.

Well he was 90 when he passed away back in 2007. What I should have said is the actor who plays the lead role was in our house last Christmas and seeing him in animated form looks really weird.

This is what the animation looks like

    Currently watching “The Liberator”

Its a sort of Band Of Brothers lite based on among other things the Battle of Anzio. Only 4 episodes, so doesn’t have the depth of Band Of Brothers, but its been shot/produced as a hybrid film animation using really interesting rotoscoping style effects. You’ll either love the visuals or hate it.

Worth a look for being a bit different.

Been waiting for this to come out and currently reading the book as it’s based on a true story. Didn’t really know that much about Anzio but a little about the defensive lines that were put up across Italy which led to some attritional fighting with huge numbers of casualties on both sides.

Also interested as the main character was in our house last Christmas and seeing him in animated form looks really weird.

First thing I would do is check the TV sound menu to see if there is an ‘optimise for speech’ or similar option. Just did this on my TV and it made a significant difference to speech clarity.

Apart from trying again to sort the relationship out,

My advice would be to focus as much as possible on this and at least give counselling a try through an organisation like Relate.

Drivers who don’t take up the correct position when turning right out of a T junction and you’re stuck behind them waiting to turn left and can’t.
