I was invited on a shoot last weekend, 8 guns, 18 pheasant, a wood pigeon and a couple of hares… Loads of hares this year but I let them run… Sadly the dogs tend to have different ideas. Pheasant pie for me this weekend!

I thought so, carpet it is… Probably won’t work out ant more expensive than a latex screed and tiles and will be much warmer… 🙂

I’ve just spent the evening taking up the old carpet – the floor is bone dry, but a little uneven… Just badly screeded, not breaking up.

I might just go down the route of replacing the foam underlay and then getting a contract chord-type carpet fitted.

I’d much rather have the warmth of carpet…

I had a work experience student in with me last week, asking me how I’d just done that?

I know that feeling well! And you spend ages scrolling up and down menus looking for “Command U”, just so you can work out what the hell you just did!

I still hit “Command Tab” to try and scroll through the tools… A throwback to the days of Aldus Freehand and Pagemaker which I’ve not used for the thick end of 20 years!

I use smart guides a lot when doing illustrations, plans, maps etc – I just use the keyboard command to toggle them on and off as required. Very useful for making sure points snap to an existing path to avoid stragglers and loose ends.

    I use them a lot in InDesign too… CS5 user here…

Hmmm… I did wonder if that might be the case… I’ve seen insulated carpet tiles but they’re very expensive, would be cheaper to carpet it!

Might just have to use tiles straight onto the concrete…

I find the Prendas ones too big, and they’re cheap as the proverbial chips. My head is average sized I would have thought…

I’d leave it a few days and have a second attempt, but if still no joy, I’d leave it at that. That’s the advantage of investing the least amount of time before asking the question – you don’t feel like you’ve wasted much if you don’t get a response.

You have to be realistic – she’ll most likely be chatting with at least one other guy, and with all the will in the world, people only have so many free evenings to go on dates. So it might just come down to the luck of the draw, and someone else got the date.

I would generally leave it until the following Monday/Tuesday so she gets her weekend plans out of the way. Mon/Tues are always the best days as if they’ve had a shit weekend, they’ll be eager to make some plans. You’ll also have a good opener where you can tell her what an amazing weekend you had but you’re free on xxxxx night…

Dez, I’m an arrogant misogynist, but it seems to work every now and again 😉

This is a tricky one… You do get a lot of the old “cold feet” but if you’re getting a lot, it sounds like either really bad luck or something needs fine-tuning in your approach.

I’ve always favoured a very direct and decisive approach from the offset, which I think defines the way everything plays out. I think a bit of assertiveness works well as most women are a bit dithery about meeting – they don’t need much of an excuse to back out.

So rather than the sort of “I’m free Wednesday… If you’re not doing anything… and if you fancy meeting…” approach, I always go for more of a “I’m free Wednesday, so why don’t you meet me in [insert town/bar] and I can buy you a drink”.

I’d always suggest the lady chose the actual venue so she’s more comfortable (“somewhere public and well-lit, plenty of fire escapes in case either of us needs to do a runner”) but apart from that, I try to “grasp the nettle”.

I know the haterz will say this sounds arrogant and misogynistic, but it always yielded better results for me.

One of my riding buddies had a 575 stolen this time last year – spec sounds right apart from the brakes which were Hope (I think).

It was a team turquoise, size large and the carbon chain-stay on the drive side had just started to come adrift where it’s bonded to the alloy yoke.

To be honest, he wouldn’t want it back! Email in profile if it sounds like it could be the one…

Good luck Mister P! The beauty of internet dating is that you’ve generally built up some rapport by the time you meet, so it’s not like you’re starting from scratch. Have a good time, and report back 😉

4.9 times a month?? Jeez… After a quick tally-up for November, I guess there must be a lot of blokes getting nothing at all to give an average of 4.9!

A wise old woman once told me to get the sex right first and everything else would fall into place. If it isn’t right in the beginning, it never will be. And I concur up to a point, if the sex is below par, the relationship will never be as good as it potentially could be. That’s why I think it’s best to test drive or borrow a few different models before signing a long term agreement…

Perhaps the old maxim “Never lend what you can’t afford to lose” should remain at the forefront of your mind in future.

It’s hardly going to ruin you, is it? It’s a couple of bottles of wine or a takeaway. I’m sure you can manage without just the once, and if your craving is particularly strong, channel those feelings next time some little strumpet wafts by and asks to borrow a score.

Fake pics are a huge problem, as mentioned before, drag them into the search field on Google images and it’ll show you where else that image appears on the net.

And pet pics… Why the hell do they put a pic of their dog?? If I ever got messages with pics like that, I’d reply “you look really nice in that 3rd photo… Very loyal… Love what you’ve done with your fur…”

Hora if they dont want to have sex with you they dont even want to kiss you never mind that

That sounds like the voice of experience… 😉

In my experience, a woman’s enjoyment of sex in general doesn’t really change – they either enjoy it, they can take-it-or-leave-it, or they hate it. A lot of men seem to bemoan the fact that their SOs don’t want to have sex any more and blame a shift in her attitudes, when they don’t make the effort to be more attractive themselves.

I’d be very interested to hear what it is the OP wants his OH to do that she finds so repellant… Is it the old Limassol Slip? A bit of tromboning? Pegging perhaps? 😯

what kind of money are we talking to rebuild these wheels for good clinchers?

Depends on the builder, spokes etc, but if you choose to go for a cheap set of factory wheels, you’re going to have to factor in an 8-speed cassette and chain – that’s assuming the hub will be the correct spacing – so it’s probably swings-and-roundabouts which route is more cost effective.

You might be able to find a rim that uses the same spokes to save money – CXP22s would need shorter spokes I think.

    Shibboleth

Look like GP4s to me – not really worth anything as they’re not retro enough to be sought after and they were a very mid-range rim.

I’d just replace the rims with a good clincher – something like CXP22s. Tubs would be daft for winter training, you want a good, grippy and puncture-resistant clincher.
