Jebus guys, it’s a gravity bike! The point is you sit on it and whizz down a hill with no other propulsion than Newton’s Finest!

    Would you compare a hang-glide to a fighter jet? Or a bob-sleigh to a ski-doo?

It’s a cool – albeit slightly clumsily built – tool for a specific sport. I want a go on it, therefore, it’s cool!

I know it’s a bit of a logo overload, but this looks flippin cool…

But for me, this is just stunningly cool…

Shouldn’t be a problem mate, not sure what the plan is yet – we tend to decide around lunchtime dependent on the weather. If this rain continues it might be Gisburn. We always meet at 6.30 and ride for a couple of hours.
    What’s your email?

Doctor Proctor certainly is one of our number! I’ve probably said hello to you on the fell – we don’t often encounter other riders.

I’m usually on an orange Soul or a white Blur (assuming you’re like me and only recognise people by their bikes!!)

There’s no Stinky Pete rides with us… Plenty of lads that should be prefixed with Stinky though!

We’re the Chipping Muddies… We usually finish at the Tillotsons in Chipping but we generally ride Geoffrey and the Fell, the Trough, Gisburn etc.

I think we’re riding Ouster Rake and Whitendale from Dunsop Bridge tonight… Should be fun in this weather! 🙂

At the back of Dilworth reservoir? We sometimes start our Tuesday Night Club rides from there, there’s usually a few mattress-luggers dangling by their finger nails… 🙂

The riders weren’t part of the decision process at all, they were all signing autographs and preparing for the race right up until the announcement to cancel.

In fairness, the riders I spoke to wanted to race, it was the organisers’ decision. Having said that, I’d think twice about crossing Harris End on a day like this!

No tools are needed for the integrated headset (I got that from Dolan too) and it’s a split crown race, so dead simple.

I’m sure – if you asked them – they’d assemble that for you, they’re very helpful.

The Dolan is a big jump up in terms of quality of finish, welds etc. I’m very impressed with mine.

Don’t know if it’s any help, but I got a lovely Dolan Prefissio frameset very cheap – they were selling some of the larger and smaller sizes on ebay for 70 quid. Got some of the Alpina forks (same as on that Ribble ^^^) for about the same…

Kestor Lane, funny that we were looking at the house for sale on Market Place a bit ago.

I think you’re referring to my business premises!! Make yourself known next time you’re passing – kettle’s always on for another cyclist! 🙂

A young lad I ride with bought one, it’s absolutely fine for the money – not too heavy, fairly stiff. It’s never going to be as nicely finished as a more expensive bike, but as a package (f/f, seatpost, headset) it’s really good value.

Rode all the way to Oakenclough only to be told it was off. Never saw any MTBers out enjoying the breeze though

Bit gutted as we travelled up from Longridge first thing and were planning to watch it on Jubilee Fell then get over to Blackpool for the finish.

Now I’ll have to get some work done!

Just got back from Kendal, the race was canceled about 20 mins before they were due to start. A real shame, but they did all the pre-race preamble, and every credit to the riders, they really spent a lot of time signing autographs etc.

Extra credit goes to the Sky team, Ben Swift and Geraint Thomas in particular – what a couple of cracking guys, they genuinely seems to really enjoy meeting fans and are brilliant ambassadors for the sport. Really impressed with them.

I’m with Whatnobeer, a non-team Castelli top costs around 85 quid. The same top with Garmin logos on can be had for 35 quid.

I have a leopard trek top because a) it was good value, and b) I like the design, and c) If it makes me a hundredth as hard as Jens Voigt, I’ll be happy.

I would imaging they need to be spot on Mister P. Looks like I’ll probably have to stick with the old ones – they’ve just gone a bit baggy…

Thanks BB< had a look but no joy.

I was hoping somebody might know if a different, later shifter hood is compatible – it’s a similar shape to the later 105 and tiagra shifters but I can’t seem to find out if they’re the same…

It’s a shame because the rest of the groupset is in perfect condition, no signs of where at all… Far better build quality than the current Ultegra.

Shibboleth – and with that attitude I can see why you are single.

🙄 As I said earlier, you really do have a massive problem seeing other people’s viewpoints, don’t you.

I sympathise wholeheartedly with what bikebouy experienced, and I can easily see how it could become problematic.

I’m single through choice, and the only reason my biking habits haven’t become a problem is that I haven’t met any biking girls that I’ve wanted to date.

I’m very happy that you’ve been together so long, at least you’ve not been spoiling another couple!

I’d been chatting up two twin sisters at the same time.

Haha, you should have kept going, tested out that “special bond”… 😉

I fnd this attitude really strange – why would you not want to share and enjoyable part of your life with your partner?

I certainly wouldn’t say it’s “strange” TJ, but you always did have trouble understanding any view that differed from your own. 😉

I ride with a big group of blokes and there’s a bit of an unspoken rule that it’s a blokes only group. I suspect it would be frowned upon if one of us turned up with a lady, not just because of the blokey juvenile crap we come out with, but we all ride hard and fast and the chance of meeting a lady that would keep up would probably be quite slim.

I can just predict there would be those awkward instances when a mountain biking lady might expect to be invited along.

I certainly wouldn’t rule out someone on that basis, and as I said, social rides out would be great. But going out for a proper competitive lads’ lungbuster, complete with all the angry shouty sweary blokiness that goes along with it is something I’d always want to keep separate from “another half”.

I recently bought an Onkyo, there’s a thread about it of you search. It’s a brilliant bit of kit, but budget more for speaker if you want to get the best out of it.

I went form some really nice Wharfdales – cheapo shelf speakers really didn’t do it justice.

Really can’t recommend the Onk highly enough though, it’s the CR-545 I think… Sound quality is easily comparable to a separates system costing much more. Good iPod interface too.

    Great ideas so far!

I’m thinking “JENS VOIGT… Shut up legs!” and “Cav, a dish best served with 250m to go”.

But I’m thinking “Careful Now” would be good next to a cattle grid…

Am I the only person that has concerns about dating another cyclist? Maybe the odd easy spin out to a country pub on a summer’s evening would be nice, but for me, mountain biking has always been my opportunity to be all blokey with other blokes, urinating with wild abandon and discussing the merits of ladies’ special parts.

When I was married, it was the one place I could guarantee a bit of peace and quiet… A sort of portable garden shed.

    That said, I’ll try anything once… 😉

So, who’s organising this ride then?

No problem Cinnamon. If you ever find yourself oop norf, lakes, lancs etc, I’d be happy to show you around…

Not a date of course, that’s not allowed on here according to Sue W 😉

Good for you Sue, I hope you and your dog are very happy together. 🙄

I don’t really think it’s your place to wade into a thread about dating on a chat forum and start telling everyone what STW is or isn’t. Just a thought, would hate you to come across as “judgemental”

Tell me about it… And women claiming to have “athletic” bodytypes when they’ve clearly been hitting the cake!

And don’t get me started on the age liars…

I’m getting sooooo bored of reading “must be tall coz I’m 5’10 and like wearing heels” and “looking for a man that will make me laugh”. And EVERY profile says “I like to go out for meals and drinks, but I like a night in with a dvd, bottle of wine and a takeaway…” SO YOU’RE NORMAL!!! Tell me something vaguely interesting!!!

I think I need a break from internet dating… I’ve even started recognising POFers when I’m out on the town!!!

Point taken Andysbeans… Full head of hair here, and own teeth, I’ve also included pics with cute kids, swimming with dolphins, skiing in the french alps… Drew the line at stroking a puppy but I’ve always got that to fall back on.

    Thanks for the pointers 😉

£2?? Bargain. My Tuesday night group costs a tenner a week… But I get a slap-up feed and 2 pints of finest ale for that…

It’s the only decent meal I get most weeks… 😥
