Can’t beat a good brew, and it should be given the time it deserves.

Another one for Hood here. I have the cargo trousers and several friends have the jeans and have crashed in them and been fine.

Exped Downmat 7’s or 9’s, all the way (best tradeoff of depth, warmth and price I could find).

    http://www.husky.uk.com/Exped-DownMat-Pump-7-Inflatable-Mattress

And with a 5 year warranty.

I’ve got a SynMat as I don’t get on with down. Bloody awesome. I can fit it, my Snugpak elite3, and a snuggy pillow easily into my Kriega US20 pack.
Having had a Thermarest, and a Gelert and Karrimor copy in the past, the SynMat 7LDX kicks the arse clear out of them all.

Would I get shouted at if I suggested to a certain extent there is a reliance on Darwinian principles?

It’s hard to photo whilst riding, but this-

turns into this stream, which I can assure you was wet.

Can you move a spacer from the LHS BB cup to the RHS BB cup to move the RHS crank and ring away from the chainstay?
Thats assuming you have an external bottom bracket.

Probably not, I’m already two spacers (5mm) on RHS.

i run a 34t on my inbred (vertical drop-out version) without any clearance issues at all.

Which is what I have, but with Alfine 8 rear. Ok, I might as well bite the bullet and go for it. I had thought about fitting a 16T rear but not sure it will take to clearing the hub.

    Thanks

Sambucol (extract of elderberry) It has been indicated that it does have preventative effects on the Flu Virus. From memory the Israelis did a blind study on it a while back.

If you find some elderberry syrup (or make your own shortly) then it is very high in Vits and can help stave off bugs. I add mine to a bowl of porridge in the morning.
Enduro-aid, make sure it’s good dirty farmhouse cider, not made from concentrate crap like Strongbow, blackthorn etc.

Its not about actually catching terrorists, its about making you think they are/can/would.

Oh god yeah, so much hype and bullshit.
On a recent Florida jolly I was packing my cabin baggage to come home and realised that my pipe, matches, lighter and baccy had made it through security coming out without a murmur. They were zipped into a side pocket of the bag and I’d forgotten about them.

Good farmhouse cider, warmed with a spoon of honey in, pint of.
Nice quite spicy bowl of chili and rice. Will help open your sinuses and the capsaicin in the chili will give you an endorphin boost.
Don’t go spreading it around at work.

Never had any problems with the Conti Cyclocross Plus, but they are a bit heavier than others. I found that they rolled well on road, but the centre tread was worn halfway after 200 miles.

Are you wanting to bomb hills or just coast along the sea front?
I still have a Lush Legend 48 in the loft, along with a nice Comet vert lam/composite 44″ park board and some of my own that I built.
If you are wanting to bomb hills then something with a nose and tail kick will help you out with sliding, that’s where the Comet came in real nice, if you want a board just to coast on, then you only need something that will let you pump the carves and wheels and bearings that will roll and roll.
I still get mails from Lush so it’s good to know they are going on. I stopped hurling myself down the tarmac a good few years ago. Shame on me.

If you catch the train up to Pontypool I can take you round my little run, about 8 miles all in with about 2 miles of road in there. Some of it fun, some of it really fun, some of it not.

I run the Wellgo Mag beartraps, but I realise they’re heavier than the flats you want to replace. Love them as pedals though. I find them far grippier than the V8s

I am a born and bred Fenlander. There isn’t much of interest there. If you like watching planes drop bombs you can go down to Shep Whites and watch RAF Holbeach get the crap blown out of it. If you want manky doughnuts and pasty whites then you can go to Skegness.
The North has a few more hills once you get past the Wolds, but still not really much to recommend it, and then you end up in Humberside and it’s really terrible.
The Norfolk Broads do boat hire, or certainly used to, and as long as you avoid going too far South into the elderly arena of Suffolk you should be safe.
That being said, you will struggle to beat a good Lincolnshire Sausage.

Lights make very little difference in daytime, and will make even less of a difference when the Daytime Running Light (DRL) legislation comes in next year, when all the lights will just blend in together and you will be even less visible.
Also, more pertinently, when a car driver is at a junction, or looking at the traffic ahead they are not registering shapes that aren’t large boxes, ie cars, vans and the like. On two wheels your silhouette is far smaller and although they will have seen you in the sense that you are in the landscape, you are not perceived as being worthy of note by the brain that is scanning, as it is looking for the large boxes as mentioned before. There have been several studies done on this with regards to motorcycle accidents, and as a full time motorcyclist I am against compulsory DRL also.
Sorry to drag this back up, but there’s more you can do to help yourself be recognised (that cog ie cognition part is important), you can physically move yourself across a foot or so when coming up to a junction, and that change in your position in the landscape will register in the vision of the car driver at the junction, you can make sure you don’t dawdle along in the gutter, and you can position yourself with authority at lights and crossings.

My understanding (having gone through it) is that once you have signed the compromise agreement document under legal witness there’s no going back.
If you haven’t done that, then you can still pull out

Another Snugpak fan here. Had the Hawk in the (very distant) past, and have been using an Elite3 for the last few years. My camping generally happens between Sept-March with maybe a bit in the summer. The Elite3 packs small, and keeps me toasty warm. Plus down blocks my sinuses.

hi shedbrewed, i’ve got an inbred frame with slots, and that the frame i would be putting the alfine in to please can you explain the problems your having?
    thanks “

The chain run is about 8mm out, and the rear rotor position requires an additional (to the already in place IS-PM adaptor) spacer being made up to move the caliper in. I am wondering if I can adjust the wheel spacers on the axle, but my axle is fixed.

Few years ago I bought a ’92 Lexus LS400 for a grand. I’d almost been booked within 24 hours of owning it for sideways urban fun. Lovely car to drive, worst ever mpg was 21, best was on a 90mph cruise control coast to the Lakes and back when it returned 30mpg.
I had to put rear discs and pads on it and got some pattern ones cheap enough, the big killer was the ignition lock packing up, but by that point a lorry had driven into the side of it and written it off anyway.
As for the Merc, do it. Old Mercs are proper German engineering. I had an ’82 W123 280e with 213,000 on the clocks. Kept on going.

I have a Genesis io id with the alfine 8, and at the moment am having a few chainline issues with fitting the hub/wheel into an inbred frame.
Anyway my experiences of the hub off road are that it struggles to shift under load when you are trying to grunt uphill, you have to back off just for a moment. You don’t notice the weight of the hub, tyre changes are easy enough, and you can change gear at a standstill.
I need to change from the standard 32T front as it’s just too low.

On the bridleways near me I think it’s the horsey riders as an obstacle for the horses, get them used to picking their feet up. It’s annoying.
Almost as annoying as trees being felled and placed so you struggle to get by.

Hi, noob here. I went in March, found Friendly’s for a good breakfast, lunch was eaten in a variety of places but Five Guys Burger bar in one of the outlet malls was probably the best burger and fries, Hooters at Pointe Orlando was ok, Cheesecake factory is always good, but the queues at lunch on the weekend were crazy.
We were along International Drive just past Pointe Orlando, and had the Millers Ale House and Cattlemans near us for meat food. Millers Ale house was definitely best value for money; their full rack of ribs were on offer two nights a week for $10.95, and a pitcher of beer was $6. Not sure what the laws are about children eating in? Cattlemans was slightly better quality, but you paid for it.
    Have fun.
