my reverb axs went back under warranty in January. Was told it would be April before they had one to send me. Just been told its now going to be November before they can get a replacement to me… This is for a 31.6 170mm.
Anyone else got an axs reverb in for warranty experiencing the same?

I thought about buying another reverb axs just now then sell the warranty replacement when it comes but have realised that theres none in stock anywhere in the size I need so guessing that they wont be in stock until November.

So I’m looking at a brand-x number to tide me over or the 210mm oneup post.
Whats folks thoughts on the oneup vs brand-x?

For the record it was me who used the term “moaning T wat”
Because that’s precisely what you are. Two threads moaning about this company.
My original post seems to have deleted. Maybe moaning donkey is a better, less offensive term?

You had to wait, what? A week?
They sorted you out free of charge and here you are crying about it.

So what that it took longer than expected?
How do you know they don’t have a massive backlog of work due to the fact most people have been hugely disrupted by the pandemic?

    You’re clearly a bit self entitled. A self entitled ****/donkey :)

I’ve got a 12 speed XT mech that’s also a tiny bit sticky. I can’t be bothered to try service it and I don’t run a shimano drive train anymore so gonna put it up for sale with its bar mount XT shifter.
If anyone’s keen to take it and sort the clutch pm me

I’m out of the loop here, can you elaborate?

Paton do you have this on good authority?

Cant imagine trickstuff would be happy with atherton bikes undercutting them on price.

But if they will I wouldnt say no

Ok thanks for clearing that up. I’ve since found the trickstuff bleed video on youtube and they do it on the bike!

I’ve been thinking about getting my name on the waiting list.

But wanted to ask anyone who owns trickstuff brakes about the bleed process.

Looking at the manual it says that a bleed should be performed with the brake off the bike and on a bench.

But what if you have an internally routed frame? Its seems like its saying to get the perfect bleed it must be a bench bleed.

But obviously after a bench bleed you need to disconnect the hose to route through the frame and that would obviously bring air into the system.

    Am I missing something?

It seems that you could do a bleed with the brake still on the bike but you would have to omit a lot of the steps that the manual says is required to get the perfect bleed.
If you dont get a perfect bleed then you’re not getting optimal performance.

Hows your bleed process been with an internally routed frame?

OP have you ever made a complaint to the bbc or any other broadcaster before??

I’ve always wondered who these people are. I’m not surprised to see its STW users.

Do you think the battery will fit the X01 or XX1 mechs? Or will the battery for them fit this? If those pics are accurate, it does appear to be a different battery design, unless that is just cosmetic covering…

The battery will be the exact same and isn’t changing. All the sram electronic groupset use the exact same battery across the road and mountain bike groupsets.

I have etap on my road bike and take one of the batteries from the road bike with me as a spare when I go out on the mountain bike.

The battery does look different in the photo of the GX AXS stuff, but it’s actually a hard plastic cover that I suppose is meant to act as a sort of protector for the battery.

When the very first photos of X01/XX1 AXS stuff came out before release they showed a pre-production mech that had the same battery cover thats seen on the GX AXS mech above.
But for whatever reason the final production XX1 axs stuff didn’t have the battery cover.

Heres a photo from 2019 of a pre-production prototype mech with the same battery cover

    haha I know…

I wouldn’t be surprised if the next gen of xx1/x01 is electric only and mechanical versions only on gx down.

Pretty sure the top tier sram red road group is electric only now. Stand to reason that trend will continue in mtb.

I seem to recall an interview with one of the sram big wigs and they implied that electronic was a big part of their plans going forward.

Yeah same here, I’m really keen to hear the price.

I’ve got a feeling the price difference between xx1 axs and gx axs isn’t going going to be quite like the difference between mechanical groups…

But if the price for a shifter and mech alone is a good bit below 500 I reckon I’d get a set for my other bike.

It’s just another nice expensive toy to play with. Much like most other components, the most expensive ones aren’t needed but plenty folk enjoy spending that cash and having a bike that’s speced up to the absolute max.

Some boring old middle aged farts here seem to think that if they don’t deem it worth the money then no one else should. Somethings worth is only ever subjective so why even argue about it?

This forum is an incredibly dull place. It’s the same users posting the same old drivel in every thread.

Threads about axs just go the same way every time. Just attracts the same dobbers who just want to chime in saying they won’t spend the money and 9 speed is fine…

Electronic shifting is the future for sure but not according to out of touch stw hermits who seem to be here 24/7 ready to piss and moan. Maybe try take that 9 speed bike outside more often :)

please let there be an updated reverb AXS launching alongside it.

My axs reverb was sent in for warranty in January and was told there was no stock until 20th April. I’ve since been told that stock at the distributor is low and will be for a while.

But I did wonder if there is likley an updated version coming and that being part of the reason why stock was being run down and maybe not replenished until a new version of reverb axs ships… This obviously very wishful thinking but it does line up with the usual spring release dates of new stuff from sram.

but I snap a few mechs a year

Really? You must crash a lot?

in over 20 years of riding, I’ve bent mech hangers but haven’t broke a single mech.

I run xx1 axs on my 5010v3 and its got a fair few gouges to the outer parallelogram but still functions without issue.

Interesting that the GX AXS has the battery cover that the prototype axs mechs had that were seen before release.

Price wise I dont think GX AXS will be as cheap as folk are hoping.

Ah OK thanks for the info, do you work at sram?

I’ve been running a normal post and surprisingly haven’t missed the dropper since all my local riding is mini-dh type runs with push up tracks.

But once things open back up it would be good to have it for normal riding.

Sram (AXS) mech & shifter, shimano cassette and chain is the best of all worlds

This is what I’m about to do but going for a shimano chainring too just to be sure of chain retention.

I love the electronic aspect of axs but for me the issue seems to be eagle cassettes. The shifting has always been a bit clunky and clangy and shifting up under any power is awful compared to my old 11 speed shimano. I’ve set the b-gap correctly using the tool while at sag point and the clunkyness is still there, have experimented with setting b-gap out of recommended spec but to no avail. So I’m hoping the shimano cassette and chain will give the smooth quiet changes I want…

While I’m here, has anyone had an axs reverb sent back under warranty recently?
Mine went back with a good 20mm of squish that couldn’t be fixed with the vent valve procedure.
It went back half way through January then got word that it was going to be replaced but the bad news was that 20th April was the expected due date for a replacement. The long wait really didn’t bother me, I can manage with a normal post and so didn’t kick up any fuss.

But I was surprised that they seemingly didn’t have any stock to send. I suppose the pandemic and brexit are obviously causing supply issues for many other brands.

Anyone here work in the industry and hearing similar wait times for axs reverb warranty?
I also wondered if there maybe an updated version possibly coming in the spring that might explain the 20th April date.

Another issue is that while I’m 95kg right now, I was 85kg this time last year(lockdown pies) and will likely be back down around 85 by summer. So the 50 might be the better option…

    appreciate everyones input thanks

yeah the 40 is likely too soft for me but once I’ve got it installed I’ll know if I need to go up or down.

Did you initially order it with the 40 because thats what the chart recommended and you found it too soft?

I’ll be running mine in 170 lyriks on a Nomad4. I run my forks quite firm on the Nomad around 20-25 percent sag but this more due to it just being what I find works best with the frame rather than being a radge hard charger.
So I’ve been going by the firm side of the spring chart rather than the medium or soft charts. But going by randoms on the internets it seems folk have varying experiences with sag.

Likewise I only really ride the Nomad at inners uplift.
Aye I’ve had a good look at the installation manual and spring change doesn’t seem to involved, I doubt I’d be changing it frequently if at all, but I like the idea of maybe having a slightly softer spring for riding through the wet winter months at inners.

Mind me asking what weight you are!? and what travel are your forks? Oh and which forks are they?

    I’m interested in this too.

I’ve still never been to Morzine/Les Gets.
Would there be enough to do there for my non-biking wife and two young children aged 7 and 2?
I’d like to go for two weeks and bring the family but not sure if there would be enough for to do if we went for two weeks?
    Anyone in the same boat?
It’s the alps so obvs plenty of walking and exploring to do but not sure they’d love just walking about the hills all day while daddy smashes it on the dh bike…

I’m about to order a smashpot kit for my 170mm 2020 lyrik

I think I’m settled on going with the 55lbs spring, I’m 95kg and so going with what the chart recommends.

But it’s obvious that not everyone has got on well with their choice that was suggested by the chart so I’m kind of expecting the possibility of having to go up or down. But I’m also thinking having two spring rates wont hurt giving the option to run it softer or firmer depending on where I’m riding.

If anyone happens to have a 45,50,55 or even 60 spring spare that they want to sell send me a pm

Hows everyone been getting on with theirs?

I’d go for any newish Volvo estate.

I own a current gen xc90 and its great for chucking the bike in the back. But its our family car and I cant always take it to the trails. My other car is a 3 series which I hate(only because its not so easy getting bikes into it) and looking to switch to a Volvo v90 in the near future.

are yours flat mount or post mount? would you sell?

No. I don’t believe anyone makes cheap non-OEM copies of a Hope specific part.

    Ok well you’re clearly wrong.

Just found these ones that deliver to UK

But thanks for your helpful replies :)

    Cheap than what?
Cheaper than the ones you mention.

I can buy a set of 10 shimano olive and barbs on amazon for about a fiver.

I’m looking for a similar priced alternative to the expensive hope ones.
Theres hope split olives with the hope insert on Ali express for about £1.50 but they don’t deliver to UK currently.

Was hoping someone could link me to something similar rather than suggest the first links on Google!

Is there a cheap alternative to the hope split olive and barbs?

I’ve just bought a set of rx4’s with shimano levers and need to fit longer hoses.

The hope olive and barbs seem pricey for a pair, the barb is clearly quite different from shimano barbs.

Can anyone link me to buying a set?!

I know if I’m careful I can probably re-use the ones current fitted but would like to have some spare incase it doesnt go to plan.

Thanks for the replies folks. £45 is a bit more than I was hoping given what I paid for the light.
I’ll have a look at mtbbatteries but if a repair is likely £40-£50 then I’m better just returning it to the seller I suppose. Ah well.

Absolutely excellent film. If it had been produced by some big bucks studio and had A list celeb actors in the main roles it would have been up for an Oscar.
