I’ve just fitted a brand new ascend xl post, I know that a bit of side to side play is normal but this one has a bit of fore and aft play too, is this normal on brand x?
Have owned various brands of droppers overs the years, side to side play seems normal but never had one that can be rocked back and forth, its a very small amount of play, maybe half a millimeter

I’ve used code rcs brakes on all my bikes since 2017, they are great. I’m a heavy rider, 105kg with 220mm rotors on my dh bike and they have no issues.

I have a spare set(my fourth!) sat in the garage that I could probably sell if the OP fancied it?

For anyone else trying the Strava PSA –

I couldn’t get it to work on my existing subscription so I cancelled my subscription and hoped to try the code once my last month had run its course. But now the codes expired…

but then Strava offered me a year at half price to rejoin. so well worth doing a fake cancellation if you’re an existing subscriber.

How long until you got sent the email with the half price offer? My subscription runs out in October and was set to renew for £55
I’ve cancelled the subscription and hoping they will email offering half price to sign in up again but im not holding my breath

Other than the lever bodies look like the same basic design. Lewis have machined out more of the body and moved the bleed port, and added a bite point adjuster. The blades look identical.

Caliper wise, both are using two part calipers, with the only visual differences being the external machining. It even looks like they’re using identical pads.

I occasionally deal with China, and it really wouldn’t surprise me if the brakes came out the same factory. If you believe every Chinese company’s website/information page, China only has large companies employing hundreds of people, just to manufacture a few niche products.

The reality is those companies are selling other companies rebranded products, which are often near identical copies of someone else’s design. And most companies will brand what you’re buying with any logo you’d like, often for no extra cost. They really don’t care about copyright, trademarks, what logo that they’re putting on a product, or lying to purchasers as to where the product has actually came from.

You really should do a bit more research before you post. It’s comical that you’re comparing them the Zoom brakes considering you haven’t held either in your hands or even bothered to google a technical drawing of the Lewis LH4 brake which is widely available. If you compare that drawing with the Zoom brakes and come away thinking they are the same then you’re probably not of sound mind and judgement.

Lewis brakes appeared in Chinese social media about 18 months ago and there are a few videos from inside their own factory where they are produced.

Maybe you picked up some Mandarin through your vague dealings with China? Have a look on Bilibili, there are countless videos about the brakes.

https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1ZC4y1d7Yf/ heres one with the design changes compared to the original discontinued Takisawa brake that predates the LH4.

Can you link me to the pins on amazon please? I don’t have this issue but my mech is out of warranty and I fully expect it to happen at some point down the line…

    Haha!
It isn’t and don’t call me Shirley.
Yeah, I know… this is why I stopped frequenting this forum as much. Grumpy old men with nothing better to do that spout nonsense. This thread is a fine example.

Go sit back down and keep getting your world view direct from the DailyMail :)

Seems a lot of middle aged, middle class white men in this thread complaining… I wonder how many of them have actually spent any significant time in a developing country? You need to get some perspective.

anyone spotted good deal on a 29er pike ultimate, the previous charger 2.1 version? Wouldn’t say no to a Lyrik either.

I’ve never owned fox forks, am I right in thinking its a bit more costly to change the air spring compared to rock shox?

    I’m after 130/140mm forks for a tallboy 4

if you dig a bit deeper you’ll find that the reports that him and pinkbike have parted ways is a joke started in the comments section on pink bike. A user used chatgpt to generate it…

My pave road3 wheelset arrived today. Anyone else received theirs yet?
They seem like great wheels for the money.

However, neither of mine are true. The rear being the worst with a 3mm wobble. Superstar claim they are true to within 0.2mm…

Anyone who’s received them, were yours out of true?

If @superstarcomponents has sold the company or its went into administration does this mean I’m not going to see the wheels that were supposed to be ready for dispatch by the end of November?

Glasgow – up in park circus

‘Park circus velodrome’ 😂 I set the record in 2014 I think. Still stands today.

Not sure if I could even equal it now tbh

So I ordered one of these a couple weeks ago it’s:
    27.5”
    150mm travel

I’ve fitted a crown race to it and it’s marked up the steerer tube slightly. So I don’t think I can really get away with trying to return it.
It’s never been used, just installed in the frame.

I bought it for my 5010 but I’ve had an opportunity to get something else I’ve wanted for a while. So I’m selling the 5010 and this fork.

It obviously comes as new with its box and I’ll give you the receipt. I paid £310,
Would anyone want it for £270?

It’s got the C1 air spring fitted. I have a sealed in the back 170mm c1 air spring and a 170mm used b1 air spring, if you wanted it with either of them

    Pm me if you’re interested

Just a heads up, R2bike do ship to the uk! I’ve bought a few things from them recently.

You need to sign up and log into the site and will give you the uk delivery option.

Edit – sorry the price has went up! Just checked the OP link and see it’s now 357 euros. It was 315 euros when I ordered!

    shanner
    Free Member

sorry i missed this! great jeez that is pretty cheap! did you use dhl or ups? i assume you just get a email or call to say to pay it? how exactly does that side of it work?

I used UPS. I received an email from them this morning saying I had taxes to pay. It provided a link to pay by card, I’ve paid and tracking says it due to be delivered tomorrow.

The price for the gx axs upgrade kit is 315 euros. You need to sign in to r2bike with a uk account and you will see a price that is 0% vat.
I’m not sure why you’re doubting me, I can see how much money has been taken out of my own account.

    shanner

    That’s not what I’ve paid.

    shanner

so whats the final outcome on this R2 bike upgrade kit? total price inc all fees? somebody surely must have had it delivered and paid for by now?

See my post above. If you buy just the axs kit then about £65 in taxes is added. Total price in pounds is about £330.

I ordered another axs battery and couple other bits so my totals are slightly different but it’s basically £330 in total. That’s way less then anything uk based right now.

Ha, I got an email literally minutes after my last post asking me to pay the taxes. I ordered a couple other things with the axs kit.
Order total was 379 euros including shipping.
Just been asked to pay £78 to ups, so probably about £65 gets added on the to axs kit alone.

Any one had the axs upgrade kit delivered yet?

I have a tracking event saying it’s cleared customs. Still no request for any additional payment yet.

UPS have never let a package of mine slip through uncharged.

Ha! My flawed logic was that dhl have always had charges to pay for me, sample size of 3 though.
I dodged the charges with UPS once early last year.

Even with taxes added on, it’s still a good price.

    shanner
    Free Member

    I caved and ordered today.
Would also be curious to know if anyone gets theirs delivered without any additional taxes to pay? It’s seems unlikely now, seemed folk dodged them quite often for a few months after brexit.
I opted for ups delivery rather than dhl.

Does anyone know much about the potential for getting the closed trails back?

The top section of IXS line was my favourite part of the hill. That left at the end of tunnel.

Has anyone been on foot and seen what the damage looks like to the top of IXS?
Is it a case of it will just take time to get it cleared? Or is it ducked and it’s not coming back?

The code r and code rsc calipers are the same and use a specific banjo bolt that you won’t find anywhere else I’m afraid.

I run code rsc brakes and have went through the same search for a cheaper alternative but the original sram hose is your only option.

I’m sure you know it but here is the part number just incase 00.5016.168.170

I haven’t bought any since brexit but they are cheaper on the euro/German stores.

    shanner

Yep, I’ve sized chains before and what you describe is pretty much how sram suggest you size a chain on a full suss.

The 12 speed shimano method is different. Any one used the shimano method with an axs mech?

    shanner

So I’m about to set up an xx1 axs mech with a shimano 12 speed cassette, chainring and chain.

I’m wondering how anyone sized the shimano chain with an axs mech?

I’m thinking I’d be best using the shimano method over sram but wondering what anyone else done?

    I had/have a reverb axs.

I sent it back last year for warranty inspection as it was sagging 6 or 7mm.
sram sent it back saying they couldn’t replicate the fault!
I put it back on the bike only to find it was still sagging. Rode it like that for a bit until it started sagging more than 10mm. The vent valve procedure had no effect.

Sent it back for the second time in January of this year and was told it would be replaced under warranty. Initially told no stock until april and then told no stock until late July! They did however send me normal reverb to use in the interim.

I loved it though until it started sagging but hopeful the replacement will last

Ha I’ve just been told that the eta for my post arriving is infact next week and not November!

But after looking at the brand x ones I think I’m still gonna get one for my other bike.

I see folk saying the 2020 version no longer has an air valve. Does this matter? What would the concequences be of not having the air valve?

Does it mean that if the post loses pressure there’s no way to sort it other than a rebuild/new cartridge?
