Tignes Val Claret has a good ESF, central location in the ski area and a lot of fast lifts in all directions.

Its more like 1550m climbing so 5000ft. The climbing is mostly steady enough with the hardest part being the hike-a-bike at the end of the last climb. There is a steep section at the top of the last descent but its not particularly long. If you are used to pacing yourself and bring plenty of food and water you should be alright.

We used to just launch off the beach and then head off to wherever was furthest away from other beach/water users. It really is pretty simple if you’re considerate. Its a shame so many ASBO candidates got involved in it, all it takes is a couple of idiots to get them banned from a beach or slipway.

There is a book called Building a Story Brand that you can get on Amazon for £8-odd. It is the best resource I’ve found for simplifying small business marketing.

Keep your name and all the bits about your business that you like and just simplify the messages, fonts and layout.

I’m pretty sure that they will just rip at the tread blocks if you’re heavy/clumsy enough.

There is a big difference between the durability of the MegaExo and DD casings. The MegaExo seem to work ok for some people but I can’t really run them on the back any more.

I haven’t tried the Procore or Deaneasy but I’m not sure they would help. I seem to be ripping the EXOs at the tread blocks, not pinch puncturing them?

There are Doubledown 2.3s in the DHR2 and Aggressor. I have punctured so many EXOs on the back that I stopped using them, but the Doubledowns lasted 5 days in Finale with no problems.

I use an EXO on the front at home but I’ll change it for Finale, I normally use folding DH tires there now because there’s very little chance they’ll puncture and the extra volume and grip is nice after a couple of days.

I have had the G13 for about a year. Obviously it depends how you build them, but they do feel quite different and lighter/easier to pedal than the G16 27.5.

If you are looking for an “XC” version of the G16 they are hard to beat. I have done quite a lot of big days out on mine and used it round local loops and trail centres. If you want to have something more efficient for really long rides, or fast for an hour flat-out, they’re great.

Over the last couple of years I’ve got a lot fitter which has meant I’ve become less bothered about easy pedalling. I’ve also got a bit bored with “XC” rides and I’m nearly always riding steeper/rougher trails, so I’ve ended up with a hybrid G16.

The G13 is a Longest with a -2 works headset, 34s, Traildog carbon wheels, XT, 170mm Reverb. I’ve been meaning to list it for sale for a while as a complete bike but I would probably be prepared to split it if I had to.

It is really worth trying one, there are a couple of good places to ride near where they are based.

I run Caddys, Transporters and Crafers for work. The Transporters are the best of a bad bunch in terms of reliability but I would really struggle to justify the premium over the Transit now they have the auto gearbox.

Most coaches or trainers will be giving you some kind of functional movement screen. If they see a problem they will recommend some combination of mobility drills and/or myofascial release to try and break down restrictions and then static stretching to restore range of motion.

As usual with anything training-related, there a loads of different ways people have packaged it all up to sell it, and some of the exercises will draw on things that people have been doing for years.

As usual people will read a couple of studies, misinterpret them and then regurgitate them on here. Stretching or not stretching as part of a warm-up is really a matter of preference. This doesn’t mean stretching or stretching-type exercises aren’t useful for rehabilitation and recovery.

Mine connected with both my iPhone and Surface via Bluetooth the other day when I set it up. Tonight the Kikr was showing as connected on the Surface, but Zwift couldn’t pick it up at all.

I tried to Join and pay on the iPhone and got an error message. I paid on PayPal in a browser and and then managed to get the iPhone working and start an FTP test in erg mode. Did the whole warmup routine and then erg mode cancelled itself when the FTP test started, all the resistance fades and the most I could spin it up to was about 135 watts. I’m using a 29 hardtail frame with a 36 front ring but 36-11 for 20 minutes flat out would be a lot more than 135 watts.

Gave up and did The Gorby in erg mode with 135 watt rests and 245 watt work intervals, found the 5 minutes at 245 tough enough.

Overall I’m pleased with it, I really only need it for a couple of sessions a week maximum and I can make them targetted with the planned workouts and erg mode, which is great.

I won’t be doing any racing unless I can figure out why it’s not giving me any resistance unless I’m in erg mode.

I can’t get Zwift to pair with my Kikr through my laptop. I was running Zwift off my iPhone but the trainer wasn’t working properly and any time I went over about 120 watts the power reading was all over the place and the resistance just dropped away. I tried to use the erg mode on the phone but it wasn’t available, I’m not sure if this is a paid feature.

Has anybody any pointers because I’ve 20km free left and I’m not in a rush to pay $15 to find out its still useless on the paid version.

I think some people get on with longer chainstays and some don’t. I know a lot of people find 430mm ‘playful’ but for me the bike is better balanced and more fun with longer chainstays. That’s one of the reasons I would always say to demo one if somebody was unsure.

I live in Ireland which is definitely a muddy area. I had assumed Fox had a 29er 40 out now but it doesn’t look like it – I’d be put off by clearance issues, I hardly ever take the D-Fender off my 36s.

Chainline what are your thoughts on the 40s on a 170mm 29er? There seems to be a bit of a delay on the parts for the 36s which has given me too much time to think. From what I remember you’re running a 29 wheel in the 650 40s?

5plusn8 I don’t think anyone was saying weighting the front is a bad thing, just that dropping stack height isnt always the best way for tall people to get weight onto the front of the bike.

I have long legs as well and most XLs are set up with the bars way too low as standard. The right shop will sort you out with spacers and a rider bar. I had a Smuggler before it had a decent headtube on it.

I read a lot of stuff about keeping the front end low. If you’re too tall you can just end up folded over the front of the bike. Look at the way your shorter mates have their bikes set up. A lot of them will have their bars far higher than you do in relation to their hips.

I thinks its pretty far from a BOS situation. The top/aftermarket Fox kit is really durable. The scale of Fox should mean plenty of parts availability. Also I never owned any BOS kit but the impression I got was the distributors were completely out of their depth. You have Mojo who know the product inside outs and will do their best to help.

It is an inexplicable decision from Fox when you consider the quality of service and advice that was on offer. Unfortunately once you get the wrong people in charge at a corporation everything becomes about egos, bonuses and the next couple of years results.

So sorry to offend you, but really WHO is going to buy a MORB? Lazy riders not wanting to squeeze in a couple more rides per week to get their fat asses stronger to hang with their best buds, just more people looking to make excuses for their lifestyle and fix it with a credit card instead of take responsibility and either ride more/eat less or if one is getting old and ‘crepid, ride the same amount of TIME and accept we will ride less distance. At the very end it’s all about the time we had on the bike, not mileage. Enjoy the time away from work/stress/concrete jungle whatever.

I’m surprised to hear that a fine-dining venue like the Antur Stiniog Cafe permits this kind of behaviour.

I don’t know the details of the tragic accident. I’ve met Kev Duckworth and my impression was that he is a very straightforward and genuine guy who has put a lot of time into the sport. I can’t think of a single event DH/enduro event I’ve done (including Tweedlove events) where there wasn’t the potential for a similar freak accident at some point on the course.

I’ve had my Longest on at least a dozen different trailers since I got it. Most of the proper set-ups have bolts or straps to adjust to the different wheel sizes. After that if everyone loads their bike in the same place every time it all runs smoothly. BPW you could be using a different trailer every time but they have them set up so the longest bikes always go closest to the front of the trailer.

    What was the other bike?

I wouldn’t get too worked up about the static BB height, the G16 has a bit more travel to get through anyway. The 29 wheels, front centre and chainstay will all make the bike more stable. The right head angle and BB drop will both make it easier to turn.

You were talking about going “over” to Mojo, if you mean over from Ireland I’ve a G13 with a -2 angleset and an original G16 you could maybe try.

If you’ve found in the past that you’ve wrecked yourself over the full days in the Alps, then maybe try and plan in a couple of big Peaks days with a decent lunch stop and a few bailout options. That way you will get a feel for what kind of pace is sustainable for a day. There is no point flogging yourself once you’re out there you may as well enjoy the views!

New set of stans flows on the way.

I was thinking that Crest might be on borrowed time…

I would be very tempted by the 170mm 29er, the G13 is quicker for me on a lot of stuff but nowhere near as forgiving as the original 27.5 Geometron.

Paul were you getting 170-odd travel on the back before, with the 27.5 wheel?

Thanks, I think it’d definitely be worth testing the hybrid. I don’t tend to mess with the bikes much once I have them set up so I can’t see me doing a lot of swapping between rear wheels. I am still a big fan of the G16 but I think the bigger wheels work well for me. 155 is great at home but I have a bad injury history and after 2 or 3 big days on holiday I start to get pretty beat up. I was looking at the longer shock on the G16 for the Alps this summer but I might just hold off and try a few things at BPW in the Autumn.

How do you like those Bravos? I have Traildogs on the G13 that I really like but I’d be tempted by the extra warranty on the big bike, I’m about to be on my third Flow in 3 months on the G16.

Chainline is it 155mm max on the back with the 29er Geometron, or can it go longer? What sort of fork travel and head angle are people tending to go for? I’d probably go 29 both wheels I am loving the G13.
