Postie I would tip but we tend to get different ones each week.

Bin-men on the other hand I would not tip out of principal and here’s why; got home today at 1pm and realized it was bin day so duly put it out, 10 mins later saw their Acorn truck and thought that was lucky! Looking out the kitchen window I thought I’ll watch them empty it and then retrieve it from the end of the drive as it is always put in front of the car. Well they completely ignored it and when I confronted them the stupid idiot said ‘you didn’t put it out’, I informed him that it was there when they passed and he replied that he would do it. Bloody good thing too as I would have reported them. Furthermore they get paid by our council tax so a tip on top for shoddy service – I think not!!

Ah, the repair will just overwrite the OS so will need to be patched. Should be okay though!

I would try a repair but sounds a bit more complicated. Is it fully up-to-date with updates and have you reset IE in case its an add-on thats causing the problem?

The repair is pretty good if you have problems with corrupted files. What problems are you having with Explorer?

wouldn’t bother with a repair if I was you.

Just re-install. Far more likely to actually fix what ever problem you have.

In my experience the repair is very successful and can be done with any XP CD. Also, a lot less hassle than a re-install as no need to back-up.

I would go for this: –

    Compaq laptop

Easy, you will need a number of powerline adapters, one near the router and one for each room, and some access points (AP700 from Draytek are excellent). I have used this set-up myself and it works really well.

Not read all of the previous posts but in my experience they need to respect you before you can make any changes. In order to gain their respect show them that you don’t expect them to do anything you will not do yourself and always lead by example. Once they are on your side they will adhere to your changes as long as they understand them and you don’t implement stuff without explaining your motives first. HTH

BF Goodrich AT’s are excellent and expensive but sadly not made for my TD5 so I went for the Grabber AT2 which are pretty good and cheap.

I would hold on and get brekkie at the Sea Shanty in Branscombe. It’s Little Thiefs the whole way!

Its a long way to go if you’re holding on but is worth it. My other advice is the ‘Botany Bay’ outside Winterbourne Zelston, you will have to detour and go M3, A27, A31 but it does a really good ‘Olympic’ breakfast and is nothing like ‘Little Chef’.

Surely people can only browse your files if they try MSHOME or WORKGROUP. If you have changed it then this should be a good security measure! Also, depending on the sniffer then maybe any security is nothing more than a smoker screen.

Recently bought a JVC head unit from Halfords for £130 and I am really impressed with it. They didn’t fit it and although they would have for a tenner they said they didn’t have a fitter in for 2 weeks WTF!

Anyway, the Ipod connection is brilliant and had a USB connection on the front and rear although I am not sure how I route it into the glove box!

Get a Discovery, same off-road capability and more comfortable although the TD5 engine is shite.

    Edit – Beaten to it!

    Totally agree!

They always deliver late and drivers always appear to have their brain disconnected. I will never use them to send but unfortunately you cannot dictate who your suppliers use.

I can get 34mpg in my Discovery TD5 and when I towed a 1.5t trailer in the summer it only went down slightly (and definitely no embellishment) 😉

I have not run a defrag on my PC since I bought it 5 years ago (XP Pro). It came with a 150GB and I still have 40MB free, I have just run the defrag analysis and it said I didn’t need to defrag.

Okay, question is should I run it anyway and will it make the slightest difference?

This has happened twice in our house which is 70’s build and really needs to be rewired but this will only happen if we move house or I win the lottery.

Anyhoo, first time round the electrician put it down to a fan light in my daughters bedroom and second time after tripping non stop for about two hours it suddenly stopped and the electrician couldn’t explain it!

I think you can call the tax office and give them this information and they will let you know that you can stop filing returns.

If I am wrong someone will be along shortly to correct me!

Mine spends too much time on STW and looks the spitting image of me…

Uncanny, mine does too – now if he would only get on with some work instead of playing games, listening to the radio, chatting up office totty….(the list is endless)!!

I did it last year with the Scouts, it was good and the guides were brilliant. They guy who runs it apparently has a bit of a reputation in the area and wants to build a massive zip line which the locals don't want!

Almost made up my mind. Its either the Banshee 200 or the Tempest 200. A mate has the Tempest and bought the Banshee for his son, he says he cannot sit up right in the Banshee although the Vango site says they are the same height (85cm) he is over 6ft though and I'm a short arse (5'6").
