The external hard drive should connect to the Homehub and be supplied with an IP address. My advice would be to replace the Homehub with a better router and then the hard drive can be independent of any laptop. You could use the USB hub but it will then be dependent on the laptop and these USB devices are inherently more quirky than the Homehub!

Had some of this at Easter when camping near Devizes and then found it in Tesco’s in Devon. It is blood loverly: –

Bought a Gelert Horizon8 a couple of years ago and aside from repairing it twice, once from a misplaced lawn dart and once from a tear in the roof due to putting it away/up damp it has been great. Used it over the last bank holiday weekend in Devon when it was really wet and windy and it was great. Needed to get up in the night to check guy lines but all sound!

trail_rat – installed steering damper and wobble has all but disappeared. I can feel it in the steering wheel but looks like the rtc spring is keeping it in check.

Also, had the uprated intercooler fitted and change in power is more than significant. Not towed yet but am certain it will make a difference.

If you mean king-pins and shims by swivel then yes this has been checked! It has improved but they say that the steering damper that was put on last year is not up to the jobs. If it was one of the £13.99 eBay dampers then I can’t see the harm in changing it for one of a better quality!

Trailrat and freeagent – just had dampers checked and they all look good. We did discuss changing them for polyurethane but apparently it is a ‘pig of a job’!

Yeah looks great and that is what has been suggested.

I will ask them to do the bushes and swivels before I try that!

So a Terrafirma RTC damper from ebay £58.50 plus £8.50 is not going to help! 😆

Trail_rat – the bulkheads are all good so I will more than likely keep it. It has been with my mechanic all week and he has looked at the steering box, king pins, shims and has finally suggested going for a heavy duty steering damper with rtc spring!

The wheel balancing has been checked but not sure about the bushes or swivels!

Thanks everyone for your input – I need to fix this as it becoming a royal pain in the arse.

Oh and just bought a big intercooler so looking for a bit more power 😀

Good luck, I have a ’96 110 and at the moment would not dry it daily but hoping to get that fixed soon. The TD5 though should be a better engine although this could probably be debated here for a week! 😆

If you have the injector harness problem just email me as I can fix it permanently.

I have also been advised that it should be chipped but only the basic upgrade (circa £500) to give it a little more power.

I will be upgrading soon to a 110 like yours so if anyone would like a 17 year old 300TDi 110 then email me – mail in profile.

Depends how much of it on the PC and how much is in the printer’s buffer, I expect. If Windows thinks it’s ‘gone’ then it’ll clean up, if not it’ll resubmit, AFAIK.

I always cancel the job on the printer (try to) – I suppose that giving this information would probably have helped! 😳

It’s actually more reliable than a reboot; rebooting will sometimes queue the file and resend it.

Never had a problem with just a reboot, although obviously I knew about the service stop/start 8)

Unfortunately, you need to reboot – always seems to clear the print queue for me! 🙂

I’ve had my Playbook for 2 days and I really like (I am a Blackberry fan though).

MrNutt – It tethers to my Blackberry for mobile use and assume it will do so with an iPhone but I haven’t tested it!

Oh and Mol, forgot to say that you were right about the weather affecting mpg 😮

It seems that optimum mpg is only attainable above 12degrees and when the engine has heated up.

Apologies for the thread resurrection but thought I would post my warm weather mpg result 8)

It seems it is indeed possible to get more than 60mpg. On my last tank I averaged 60.4mpg and on the current tank I am averaging 66mpg. I have done a few motorway journeys which helps and I am sure this will come down with shorter journeys and any change in the weather.

There has been a bit in the press recently about Government figures and I can only assume that they go by the manufacturers claims who must do their tests in the South of France on an autoroute 😈

We have bought at least 6 ranging from cheap to expensive and for some reason they always develop a number of small holes after the first use 😐

If this is a clunk when engaging gear and most violent in 1st gear then it is the ball-joint A-Frame roll-over. When the ball-joint gets worn it causes the clunk.

    ( + An Eberspacher diesel heater )

Cranberry, where can I get one of these cheap as they seem to be pretty expensive and I don’t want to spend a fortune making my 110 comfortable just for my wife!

    Shakey

My 110 clunked really badly when I bought it and was a real PITA unless you used the clutch really softly. Fortunately I managed to get it fixed under warranty. I think it was the ball joint A-Frame roll-over which seemed to be pretty tricky to fit unless you know what you’re doing!

As a daily workhorse it is cold (non existent heating) in Winter, hot in Summer, rattles a lot and is uncomfortable.

Saying that, I still love it and wouldn’t be without it!!

The iPad seems the logical alternative

How did you arrive at this conclusion, bypassing all the many many smart phone options along the way?

I came to this conclusion as I want an iPhone as it is better than the Blackberry for web browsing and apps. I can also use my remote access software on the iPad and with the larger screen it just seems to be the logical step!

Obviously, I have ignored all Android phones so am open to suggestions for these.

The Singletrack in the code has been there sometime and seems to have come through a few forum updates/changes! I think it was first noticed, by someone for more intelligent than me, about three years ago 🙂

I only buy Netgear routers as I find them reliable and easy to configure. You might find that you need to spend more than £20 now 😀

BTW what your saying is normal! You need to mess about searching for new quotes every year, your obviously new to insurance generally?

Not new to insurance as I have been driving for 23 years but just a tad surprised that some Insurance companies care so little about existing customers they are prepared to lose them!

Another vote for Cobian. It is easy to install and set-up. Once set-up you can effectively forget about it!

I’ve had a Blackberry for 3-4 years and I like them although they are definitely marmite! I used it predominantly for email and they do this well and better than Android phones.

Having said that Mrs Shakey has a Samsung Galaxy and it is a good phone!

Edit – I have the Torch and it is better looking than other BB’s!

Thanks Mol – thought it may be something to do with that as it only happened in December! I tend to drive like an old women to boost the mpg but it makes no difference in the winter!

Very sad day! My brothers dog was put to sleep this morning. The 15 year old labrador/collie had had a good life but lost her master 4 years ago when he passed away and she had been pining for him ever since.

Now can’t stop thinking about both of them 🙁

If by the home screen you mean the screen with reduced icons then it needs to be moved up from the screen which contains all the icons (usually entered by pressing the moving the screen up (well on my Torch anyway).

You have a 32bit OS which can only handle 3GB of memory no matter how much is installed.

Upgrade to 64Bit Win 7 and you’ll be sorted!! Edit – Too late

If no devices appear in the ‘Network Connections’ then the PC isn’t recognizing the network card. I would check the hardware manager to see if there is any unrecognized hardware and check the network connection on the motherboard to see if any lights appear when you plug the cable in.
