Tyres aren’t and won’t be an issue in my view for a long time into the future, if ever. The four cross and dirt jump standard is still 26, and there’s plenty of knobbly variants of those that are still being made. If you go to big manufacturers websites you’ll see they are still offering 26 options.

Forks with straight steerers may be an issue but if you absolutely must keep the steerer you have and buy new lowers and internals.

When you consider the number of rampage competitors using 26 last weekend it’s clear it’s not being phased out as a standard.

Thanks for posting the Spinal Tap vid, haven’t seen that in ages. The look of utter confusion when he suggests making 10 louder before the killer last line – perfect

Hang tough mate. My Mum had it when I was a kid and she got through it. Be positive and don’t let your fears and frustrations show with her, come and do that on here and we’ll give your head a wobble :)

I think you need to consider the possibility that the husband buggered off because he was made to live with two Yorkshire Terriers.

Kids are just pampered by parents who spoil them IMO. Only the other day I saw a parent buying food from a shop for a child to eat! Unbelievable, in my day I’d be handed a net and a spear and told to go and hunt my own on the playing field, although it was the 70s. Lazy little gets.

That looks like a failure to me but don’t assume it’s your fault. New bike, no big impacts, you do the math. You’d expect a defect to show itself in the first few months. My guess is a QC issue – I’d be going in there with that and an expectation that they’ll replace it under warranty and offer a free service for your trouble!

It doesn’t look like it’s a Skyway then judging by the serial number format (look on the bmx museum website). I wonder if it’s an SE Racing frame. They were around back in the day, notably with the PK Ripper. No idea what model, their frames did have straight down tubes but the freestylers had some over engineered quadrangle affair. If I was going to start a bike company I’d use the initials in the serial number, so maybe it’s SE.

I know it’s been said but my first thought was that’s a streetbeat. Plenty of chrome versions of it as well. Any serial number?

I much prefer Easter, spring weather, end of winter, Mother Nature doing her thing, and loads of choc. The thing about Xmas is all the faff and all the expectation. Everyone so wound up about making sure they have a good time, always thinking someone is having a better day. Plus there’s the traditions which usually dictate how the day is spent, usually inside. Easter – low profile, lower expectations, lower cost, higher enjoyment. Spend the day how you want, on a bike if you can. Give me Easter over Xmas any day

I’d tell the 19 year old me to go out into the world and do what you think is right at the time, make the same mistakes and end up where I am now a whole lot wiser and mentally stronger than I would be if someone had given me a road map rather than letting me live those highs and lows.

Being able to eat spicy food is one of my few talents in life but I’m not one of these idiots who always orders the hottest curry on the menu. I’m just as likely to order a biriyani as a phall. I’d buy this if I was in the mood but I suspect I’d have the old Johnny Cash, burning ring of Fire then next day.

I’m a bassist of 30 year standing. The one thing that brought me on more than anything else was when I put the bass aside and started getting into electronic music production. This doesn’t have to be expensive something like Korg Gadet for iPad is great. It helps by teaching you about groove. There’s nothing moe important. Like Victor Wooten says ‘don’t lose the groove to find a note’.

Youve raised this with the right people. Who cares about stopping distances impaired by illegal car tyres? Anyone would think we’re a bunch of bloody cyclists.

Bloody cheek if you ask me. I had a similar incident a few years ago. It was 3am in the morning and my nosy neighbour was banging my door down and shouting at the top of his voice. Turns out my house was on fire and yeah I guess technically his actions saved me and my family from burning to death but bloody cheek. Who do these busy bodies think they are taking the trouble to bring things to our attention that may cause death, injury or financial loss. Where do these people get off? He clearly knew somehow that you had spotted it already.

It’s a good job we have STW because clearly there are no other alternatives available to research the relative merits of potential car purchases. It’s almost like this thread is motivated by something else…

My eldest is 7 and I can understand that feeling that you’re out of your depth. I feel like that when my two are arguing about a football so god know how you feel.

Sounds to me as if he’s picked it up from somewhere else and that’s what I’d be worried about. Not that he’ll become a rampant racist, because with you as his parent that’s not going to happen. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Don’t see it as a label, he probably doesn’t even fully understand what hes saying. It’s a passing comment picked up from somewhere else and repeated without him thinking about it. He’s not racist. Sounds like you handled it well.

Privileged? Built his first kart himself out of wheels he found in a dustbin and pipe from the factory his father worked in. Got into F1 despite being a very average driver, that must have taken some grit and determination. He set that goal and achieved it. Yes as an F1 driver he was then “privileged” but he worked to be in that position. Its a bit of stupid circular argument.

In June 2011 I was diagnosed with pneumonia and was off work for 5 weeks. I went back far too soon. I should have gone off sick again but what I did do was work all day come home and get straight into bed, plus stay in bed every weekend. This went on for an additional month after I went back to work. I was 38 at the time and fit as a flee. I understand that i recovered quickly and that for some it can take many months to be 100% again.

Not sure wiggo fires bullets for British Cycling, I suspect there’s no love lost there because of what happened to Shane Sutton. That said British Cycling want rid because they don’t want her tainting the carefully crafted image.

    Is this even a dilemma?

    1) e-cig WTF? At least real smoking was cool e-cigs make you look like you’re playing a crap piccolo
    2) general consensus in my office is that they are more disgusting than real fags
    3) he’s had his warning
    4) he’s a ****

I’d be up to HR quicker than a man with a signed pay increase authorisation form. Get him shopped asap. You’ll be the office hero.

Bank job. You can start as a clerk and work your way up. If you work hard within a few years you could be the bank manager, then you’ll be in a much better position to commit white collar fraud.

I respect the fact that you threw that out there. You’ve wondered is it cool, and you thought should I raise it on the STW forum to be sure, those dude know their stuff? You know what I’m doing it you thought, I’ve had a few beers and my iPad is fully charged I’m going for it. I’ve got that picture, you know the one by the he gate, that will do. I’ll ask them, I’ll ask my question. Is my bike cool? You know what mate, I think you love that bike. I love my fav bike. I get as much enjoyment from planning the next upgrade, and tinkering with it as I do riding it, and I ride it a lot. It’s a mountain bike mate and therefore by definition it’s f**king cool. Go ride it.
