On-One 29er, looks better without cheap decals, rides better with a QR15 fork as well.

There is a Scottish connection, its filmed in Glasgow.

Liked the one where she was in labour that long she had to be shaved twice. Ouch….

Never had a car, prefer to ride my bike.
Locally on the whole with Car/Van hires to cope with transport to events.
Got a large courier bag and a bob trailer and sack for the messages/supermarket trips.
I even got fed up hiring vans then spending up to 2 hours driving each way to Kiroughtree when I can ride from the house for free, when you factor in a day hire of a medium van and petrol its well over a £100 for a trip to a trail centre, money that could be spent on more shiny bits for the bike.

The East End is horrendous at the moment, shettleston road is full of bomb holes, worst I have seen in Glasgow. They would swallow a horse.
Been like that for the past 3 weeks that I have been commuting along it.

Quite like jumping onto the bumper of buses and chasing them up the street but thats off for the moment due to a couple of near misses with the pits of death, dont normally wear a helmet on the commute, my choice, but suspect that may change in the near future, the roads are so bad.

Some nice period touches reminded me of growing up in the West of Scotland, like being sent to stand outside the Heads office to get the belt, or the lassie asking the boy if he would go out with her mate, took me back a few years.
Cinematography is good as well, nicely colored, although the Jesus character should have had a beard by my reckoning..

Medium Black Americano from Starbucks up from 1.90 to 2.00. No milk involved so 10p on a coffee, almost double the VAT increase.

Bit of profiteering going on here methinks.

I would have been more impressed if you wrestled it to the ground and punched it in the face and beat it to death with your fists, seems like a fairer fight, but that would be too hard, better use a gun.
Dont use the abattoir cruelty arguement thats a different case.
Personally if people want to kill animals for food, fair do’s as long as its done in a humane way.
Can’t see any justification for shooting an animal and bragging about it.

See deer all the time about a mile from Maryhill, along the Kelvin, at dusk they seem to go down to the river for a drink, beautiful sight seeing the mas and pas with their young.
Being a veggie feel no need to shoot them, just enjoy the beauty of nature.
No issue with people eating meat, used to eat it myself, but who’s the big man shooting a defenceless deer at close range?

Glitter and Doom the latest live album would be a good intro, saw him in Edinburgh last year, gig was magical, waited over twenty years for that one, only downside was siting across from Ricky Ross from Deacon Blue on the train home to Glasgow.
As above, Asylum years, original vinyl version has more tracks than the current CD, Franks Wild Years, Raindogs, Swordfish & Trombones, Big Time is a cracking live album, good concert film as well on VHS, wish they would rerelease it on DVD.
I love One from the Heart its a great album but crap film, sings with Crystal Gayle, bit different than the rest of his stuff, Broken Bicycles is a good un.
Tracks I like are Step Right Up, Jockey Full of Bourbon, Tom Trauberts Blues, Whats he Building in there?, Make it Rain, Broken Bicylces, Kentucky Avenue.
Plays himself in Terry Gillians The Imagination of Dr Parasamous, good movie.
Started his career playing with Barry Manilow and Bette Midler in bath houses apparently.
    Man is a legend, respect.

Got a Nobby Nic 29er on the front of a Surly and one on the On-One Ti,been running them since they came out changed from a Ralph on the front, bit slower but more Grip, really like the tyre will be keeping it on all through the winter.
Purchased from singlespeed.nl and no issues at all running as tubeless on Stans 355 on one and Bonty Mustang on the other.
Riding with them all over Scotland, as well as Kielder 100, no sidewall or any other issues either.

Nice Road loop down the coast to almost Culzean and then back up the Maybole back road, know as the Pennyglen loop.
Ayr Roads CC have a club ride (roadies) from Beresford terrace in Ayr on the Sunday morning at 09:30.
The local tri club ayrodynamics have a saturday road ride I think as well.
Alternativley if you have a car, not too far to drive to Drumlanrig, Mabie or Kiroughtree for some MTB action an hour or so each way.

More locally Troon woods is okay for a muddy hour or so on the MTB, or even up the carrick hills outside Ayr.

The Nyah Ferties 'Barassie beach' all time classic track, they were a bit local, Ayrshire based I think.

Much better than Deacon Blue, they were a load of pish, dignity my ass!

Crashed after ten miles and lost my Front rake due to a leaking hose, rode the last 94miles (Garmin made it 104.68) with just the rear brake, somewhat character forming to say the least, feel like I have had an out of body experience, cracking event, did 10:50, wanted to beat ten hours but maybe next year with two brakes.

Usually takes about 10-14 days after a heavy session to get the THC out yer fat cells.
Best thing to do is to exercise at a level to burn fat, slow and long, that way you get rid of it quicker and feel better.
Either that or hair of the dog.
No need to smoke the stuff either, smoking is anti-life,use a vaporiser and you will still be able to ride the bike hard, the dutch Verdamper model is somewhat better than the Volcano bag system for this purpose.

See quite a few deer, young and old on the banks of the River Kelvin just past Maryhill, got quite a shock one night when one jumped the trail in front of me, thought I was getting ambushed by the Maryhill fleeto or something.
Problem is their are a number of neds /animal murderers apparently hunting the poor things, due to proximity to housing estates, one was found cut open and strung up on a washing line in someones back garden last year.

Why not look for contracting work, same crap IT stuff, but three times the wages, plus in my experience when you are on contract the customer prefers you to finish at 5pm as any extra hours are billable.
I went from contract to full time at ScottishPower in Glasgow and all of a sudden I was working till ten at night for no reward, just a pile of stress and an unseemly rash onmy hands.
As soon as another contract came up, in Glasgow, I was offski.
It certainly sounds like you are ready for a move, if your wifes income can support you why not take some time out to study, that would be good for the CV, showing that you are motivated to change and develop.
You might as well go to town with raising a grievance as well, make life uncomfortable for them, they certainly dont appreciate you by the sound of it.

Did Goat fell on a fully rigid Saracen trekker back in 1987, carry to the top then a somewhat tumblesome ride/carry on the way down, good laugh though, would be much better on a full sus for sure.

    1989 – 2005
First was he best, horses, dogs and crusties.
Listening to chants of Hash for Cash, black hash hrough the night
Last was the worse, no atmosphere, no weed, and gangs of jap tourists wandering around in packs taking photos of people smolking spliffs. It also seemed that everyone there was white and middle class, whereas in the past the crowd was a lot more varied and colorful.
Trying to avoid the coverage as despite not wanting to go, I still feel as if I am missing my summer holiday.

Singlespeed.nl for the Nobby Nic, got one a couple of weeks ago and swapped out the previous Racing Ralph for this up front.
I had no issues with the Ralph, but fancied a NIC as I run a Nic/Ralph setup on my 26er, I found the Nic a bit slower on the first few rides but starting to appreciate it now, particularly the extra grip when braking on sketchy descents.

Did the Merrick on my first rigid mtb back in 1986, I was living in london blew a months wages on a Saracen at £500 then got the overnight sleeper up to Scotland, stayed at parents then drove down to the merrick next day, carried the bike all the way up, bar the ridge from Benyellary to the Merrick.
Then had the time of my life coming back down, arse over bars time after time.
Beware the grass on the descent from Benyellary its full of hidden holes.
It gets a bit technical further down as well were the paths been worn away by water.

Went back twenty years later with a full sus and had as much fun as I did way back.

You also have the Glentrool Visitor centre nearby for a nice bit of cake.

Apparently if you get stopped for being drunk on a bike, you have the right to refuse a breath test, and unlike with driving they cant charge you with refusing a test, so its a get out of jail free card.

Been charged with reckless cycling twice in the past so quite interested in the legal aspects.

When it comes to jeans there are only two choices Vintage Levis or Vintage Lee the rest are poor/expensive imitations.
I would recommend checkin out Aeroleathers in Hawick, this is my secret source of vintage Levi and Lee, prices much less than you would pay in Cinch in london for example.
1955 501's would be my #1 choice, then the baggy 201's, the 1933 and 1937 with the cinch back are nice as well.
My da wears vintage lee, the same ones he had as a teenager in the fities

Nzcol, I have a copy of the Window Pane Album and some Real People CD singles, just about to listen to it for 1st time in years, drop us an Email (in profile) and I will send you a copy.

Top were a good band as well, bit like the Real People, No1 Dominator was one of theirs.

World of Twist class act, wouldnt mind a copy of the Quality street album, lost mine, got a few World of Twist CD singles and vinyl like The Storm 12", superb just wish it had been pressed better.

Came across a Senser album , stacked up, in the collection, not madchester but may be what the OP was after?

Did the red on my commuter single speed one night last year 44×16 although it was a rotor ring up front, wasnt as hard as I expected, just ground it out.
I use 44 x 17 on my surly off road most of the time, gives you a decent work out, find smaller gearing makes me feel like I am going nowhere fast.

+1 for Mike Ferrentino, 1st thing (after editorial) that I read. His writing in Bike is good as well, nice to have some mature thoughtful pieces.
The Torq fitness articles were good, and the anti-fitness features as well, would like to see more of that kind of thing as well as more on nutrition.
Dont like the big white space at the top of a lot of pages, seems a waste and I find it quite off putting for some reason, more clutter please.
More tech articles would be good as well.

15 years a veggie no meat cravings and no need for meat to ride a bike hard, long and fast. Just get fired up with Lentil Dhaal and go for it.
Wine Gum's though thats the thing that might make me turn, a co-worker used to bring them in to meetings to try and break me, git.
Thank god for American Hard Gums.

Paul Mccartney & Wings, time from a retrospective.
Been listening to the Band on the Run album, superb which in turn led me to wings over america, I remember not being able to afford that as a kid, triple vinyl if I remember with a sleeve about a mile long, I got laughed at by my punk mates for wanting a copy.
I reckon he doenst smoke as much weed as he should, his best music was when Wings were touring with tonnes of the stuff. I wondered if he got back on it after Mills banned him for smoking it, I would have told her where to go with her peg leg for that one alone.
Anyway Jet, Band on the Run, Live and Let Die prove he has some talent beyond the beatles, I wont mention that place the helicopter crashed, that was dire, nor the frog he msut have been jonesing when he wrote that shite.

Barretts in Byres Road gets it in, also Bike and Bicycling from the US, no Velonews though.
Think you can get them to keep a copy behind the counter for you.
I usually see it in there before my sub copy comes in.
Bit of a pain Borders shutting for mags in general in Glasgow.

Best taking vits in a capsule form rather than a slab of tablet if you do choose to go down that route, helps prevent stomach upsets.
Viridian Sports Multi is what I take, as insurance, due to the fact I am a veggie.

I had a ltd company as self employed IT consultant, bought a Rockhopper Pro with a company cheque, used the Rockhopper for the commute for a few years and held as an asset until I crashed and wrote it off the books "cough".
That way bike comes off the companies money rather than say taking a dividend out to buy one, which would subject to tax etc.

Lou Rawls without a doubt song would appear to have been written for his voice, album of the same name also on a few colections of his.

Avoid the Sting version, although that may just have been a film.
