get your phone out and start video recording in those situations. You are perfectly within your rights to push a bike on a footpath. Did you turn around?

I try to avoid the DM and particularly the comments section, but I couldn’t resist this time.
There’s a lot of hateful people out there.

Standing about in 2° working on fiddly bits is much harder than digging the garden in 2°. I’d work out some way to do this indoors.

An OO Whippet might be too much of a compromise for trail riding if you’ve come off a FS Anthem. If you’re OK with PlanetX then maybe go a bit more burly with the Scandal?

Download Firefox, Edge or Chrome, which will be far more secure than the dated version of Safari you’re holding onto with the mistaken belief it’s keeping you secure

My Mondeo keyless key has a real key inside it. Might be similar for you? There’s a hidden slot in the steering to slide in the fob which delivers the immobilizer code (via some sort of RFID I assume), for power out situations.

Are you sure the external network is your problem?
We can both be on Teams video calls, plus a child on Fortnite and one on Roblox on 70Mb Openreach FTTC all running fine.

FoD is all Carboniferous rock (Upper Coal Measures) hence the mining history and the Freeminer trail. No granite there.

Definitely wise to train this out as much as possible for this breed.
When we were out walking my FIL’s Springer, he chased a pheasant thru a hedge into a lane, at the exact time a car was passing 😢

For the shift to active travel to succeed, society has to crack this security conundrum as ebikes play a significant part in it.
Cars are much harder to steal than they were in the 80s. It’s time for bike manufacturers to step up and solve the problem. Ebike electronic immobilisers would be a good starting point.

@lamp the fact that “it’s all agreed” just reinforces that it’s illegal. What you are doing is preventing the purchaser from being able to have two suppliers compete for their business so that they pay a higher price. This is anti-competitive.
I highly doubt that any lawyer would have seen the contract you say exists as it is illegal.
You’ve incriminated the company with this post, you’d better hope there’s no way to identify the company in your post history.

I thought geographic sales territories between suppliers were illegal under the competition act or enterprise act as they can be anti-competitive

I’ve rang around staff though as an employer were responsible to inform staff.

On a legal point they have no legal obligation to isolate (other than from their workplace) just on an employer’s say so. Needs to be T&T or Public Health.

Thanks all for your views and advice.

The cement is definitely set. I might give it a go with some vinegar.

Interested to know who really is liable, builder or neighbour?
If I go via my (car) insurance I’ll pay an excess and my premium goes up. Given the builder’s attitude I can’t see him just rolling over and paying up.

I had a non working pair of ’96 Judy XC and I sold then last year for £30 to a guy who wanted to hang them on the wall in his man cave.

The aircraft is a terrible idea, but the way you’ve framed the space with trees, it needs something. A distant flock of geese?

    Needs more happy little trees

nice one. There’s nothing wrong with having a tree as a friend.

    @big_n_daft

Mostly correct. Technically it’s a civil tort rather than an offence (which is criminal)

Its also worth being aware of the principle

    Nulla poena sine lege

Which says that something has to be defined as illegal for it to be illegal.
I haven’t come across anything that says a ‘vehicle’ can’t use a footpath. CRoW Act states a ‘mechanically propelled vehicle’.

The Fermi Paradox is worth bringing into this discussion, or more simply, Where the Hell is everyone!

^this link is to the best explanation I’ve found about whether there is life elsewhere in the universe and whether they may be visiting Earth. It’s a long read read but entirely fascinating.

There’s lots of good microwave meals now available. I buy the vegetarian healthy eating range from Sainsburys and find them good. The secret is to look at the ingredients and the traffic light labels. It’s very easy to go high on the bad stuff (salt, fat, sugar) for the same type of meal.

Another tip for brocolli: 2 portions in a pyrex bowl and cover with clingfilm. Pour on 2-3cm of boiling water. Micro for 3 minutes. break the seal on the clingfilm but then reseal (this stops it getting squashed when the steam cools) and leave for 4 minutes. Perfectly cooked.

Try the route plotting tools under the Training section on Garmin Connect. Exports easily to your Garmin. I’ve never seen the need to install Basecamp.

for the budget and use you describe, I’d be looking for a hardtail. I saw a good spec On One Parkwood 29er on FB the other day for £650 in Gateshead. Geo and rear hub is a bit outdated, but it’s still a hoot to ride.

Is there a potential seller benefit here on scam refunds? With paypal eBay used to be able to automatically extract funds from your account if the purchaser put in a claim and you had very little chance to object as a seller. If the money has gone into your bank account, I assume eBay can’t get at it without a direct debit mandate (which has good protections)

If PROW cases are taking several years to progress, perhaps in the case of active landowner opposition, it’s time to provoke them to take legal action. When the day in court arrives, the evidence of historical BW access can be presented. It needs someone with the spirit of the Kinder Scout trespassers to adopt this approach!

This 1942 map would indicate the route from Ashey station to the old water works (where the bridleway begins) is an old road not a F.P., so has the same status as the main Ashey Road.
Just because a PROW is signed as a footpath, it does not mean that that is the highest level of access allowed, it just means that only a footpath has been proven, so far. This map is a good basis to push for a BW.
I assume you’re thinking of others here rather than yourself. If it were me I’d just ride it and if the landowner piped up that could be the point to go down the legal option.

Mondeo 2.0L TDCI estate. Titanium X spec. You should be able to get a 2012 or newer with under 80k for your budget. Very comfy on the motorway. Reliable and the few known issues are well understood by the indie Ford specialist mechanics and much cheaper to fix than BMWs, VWs, Jags etc.
Doesn’t tick the 90s style criteria

Get a track car if you want fast and something practical to do your commute and dog duties. Less chance of killing someone this way, like a cyclist as you accelerate in 4 seconds 0-60 out of a corner on a public road.

I liked a bit of tuna, but like Robz, I’ve decided that it’s just not a sustainable fish to eat. The fishing methods are dubious and has significant bycatch. Populations are depleted for many types. It’s a top level predator. MSC labelling gives a veneer of it being sustainable but in practise is bullshit. I’ll be switching to mackerel and sardine.

I agree MTB access round there is a delicate balance, so probably worth avoiding that path. Though do remember that Buckle and Cranham Woods are Access Land under CRoW so walking with a bike is fine if it makes for a simpler journey.

I also agree with mrmo that it looks like the path from the caravan field is the old road and should have been all classified as bridleway. There are so many paths like this in Glos it would be good to have some concerted effort to get them reclassified, a bit like what the Ramblers are doing with lost paths.

And the definitive map is sort-of online for Glos, but it’s the same as the (online) OS Map and is not legally definitive. I queried a path recently and the guys at County Hall sent me a photo of the paper definitive map with old notes from the sixties extinguishing a path.

I’m not familiar with that fork, but if I was trying to fix an air leak, I’d think seals and air valve before an oil change.
Have you put soapy water over the valve core to check for leaks? Or maybe even put the whole fork in a bath of water.

I had to Google what a GSD was. Does the acronym have a “D” at the end to differentiate them from human German Sheppards, which if you walked one of them around the park on a lead carrying it’s shit in a bag you’d get strange looks (reminds me of an episode of Eurotrash)

I’m glad i haven’t had this happen as i genuinely do not know what would happen if i was out with my son.

I’ve found Revolut very good for amounts under €10K. Rate is very close to market and no fees. Not sure what extra costs there are for over €100K but definitely worth a look.

The G2 R is basically a post-2017 Guide R. They’re good enough brakes if set up right. What’s actually wrong with them OP? Underwhelming in what way? Stopping power? Lever feel? Modulation? Different problems require different solutions. Might need a bleed, or you could have contaminated pads/discs or need a larger rotor.

@Rich_s you can’t serve an injunction against someone just because you don’t like what they are legally doing. Walking a pedal cycle on a footpath is a legal activity.
Suing the individual if they were trespassing is also very difficult to prove any loss.
It just isn’t going to happen unless the civil trespass is against some well financed organisation. Which the local farm is not.
