As most have said, every shop is different.

I recently got a custom build done. I did the basic level of haggling and got 10% off the frame, 20% off parts and a free bikefit and saddlebag. All for just asking “what can you do for me?” Have to say it was great service from start to finish, and I will be recommending them to anybody that listens.

I tried pricing it up to build myself and couldn’t do it much cheaper :)

On the other hand, I would haggle over low cost items like clothing etc.

I have a NAS that has 2 disks. It can be set up to do RAID0 giving a full 2Tb of storage. Or you can set it as RAID1 giving instant back up of data (but only 1Tb). If one disk fails just swap it out.

If this is an option with your’s I’d suggest easiest way is to add extra disk. Or just buy one with 2 disks that is RAID1 capable

Can’t comment on any of the others, but I have been using a Supertourist DX every day for the past 2 years, mostly for commuting to work but also for a couple of week long road trips carrying everything needed.

So far absolutely no problems. They seem light, strong and you just fit and forget.

Hard to fit mudguard, but if you just put a bit of neoprene over the bars fitting it to the seat tube and you wont need one.

    Sorry for late reply

    @Asterix

can I ask seven, how did you repaint your ‘dale? Mine has many places where the original paint has come away – I though of re-spraying or powder coating it, but people around me convinned me not to

I got it professionally done by Bob Jackson in Leeds. cost about £120 (incl. new headset) and paint still going strong with limited rubs/chips after 5 years of daily commuting.

Beast of the East by jake474, on Flickr

Old cannondale Beast of the East (m900) from 1996. Was originally same colour as asterix’s M900

Now used daily on the commute, original forks replaced with 8yr old fox talas, partly to help with pot holes an kerbs, but also they were all I had when originals mangled in car bike interface.

Anybody got an old pair of p-bones they want to sell :)

To OP if you ask this question you will regret not having kids in future.

The question of having kids should not coming into your mind if you are a person that does not want kids.

Except nobody lives in a bubble and is immune to the questions of society around them – have you read this thread?

If you just did and didn’t question why, where would yu end up, ohh yes, where you are probably

I work in LS11. Live in Chapel Allerton, ride in most days (20 Min) and can mountain bike from the house (with some roads), also great road riding (of which I have been doing a lot this year, due to aforementioned mud.

Ls11 is good for the station though :)

    what version are you using?

you could edit the jpg in the raw editor and adjust the white balance colours and then adjust hue and saturation of the individual colours (depends on version)

Anybody that get ripped off buy paying over the odds for an unwarranted product off a bike forum classified is an idiot, and probably deserves it.

A 30 second cut and paste of the product name into google will soon give you an idea of the price it can be got for. If you can’t be arsed to do that then its more a case of stultus emptor than caveat emptor

so people popping up telling you you can get it cheaper at xxx are to me just annoying, slightly patronising and a bit smug – why don’t you just say “have you googled that”, after all it’s better to teach a person to fish than to give him a fish

    Sorry – bored today :)

You can switch it off for yourself but depends how others have set their options.

wow, who’d have thought winter tyres would get such an argument going, but then it is STW after all.

Must admit i swap to winter tyres every year, spend much time driving in the highlands in a BMW so it does help.

As for how we managed with out well true we did, but equally we managed with out www and mobiles, but could we now? I mean i might have to go and find something more constructive to do than type shite on the internet from my smart phone :)
