I too got fed up of buying the middleburn chainrings to fit my X-type UNO so I bought the spider

    https://www.mountainbikecomponents.co.uk/rs8-x-type-spider-4-arm-mono-104bcd-90id

and now I buy hope chainrings for my singlespeed.

I have a blue payoff which I bought last year from onza direct. You get 10% off code for signing up your email. I wanted an acid bath one but was put off by the ones on eBay which looked a bit rusty.
Comes with through axle and headset if I remember correctly.
It is a bit heavy but rides very well.

Try googling for other discount codes.
Downside is push fit bottom bracket.
Nicely finished frame. Gets lots of remarks.
Got a KS Lev dropper from eBay

My wife has a new endurace 8.0 CF SL WMN and she loves it with normal ultegra. Very nice looking bike and I’m thinking of getting the Di2 one for myself!

I think the CF ones without the SL are last years ones and the SLX are the super ones for this year.

I too tried out my new 4iiii meter yesterday and had the same issue. Sounds like 3s average is the way to go.

I got a new record for my 40Km time yesterday. I see in the records that there is a 20 minute Power but it was empty. I rode for at least 2 hours so it should have updated.

Is there a setting I need to enable to do power records?
    Thanks

I must admit I hadn’t thought that MTB and road cranks weren’t compatible. I am going to use it on my ultegra 6800 road bike.

I think it’s worth asking in a new thread if they can be swapped about.

I just ordered a 4iii ultegra 6800 Left crank power meter for £276 from halfords who have 15% off at the moment. With my British Cycling discount this comes down to under £250 which isn’t too bad.
They have 105 ones for cheaper.

Fudges cycles have the Tarmac Expert Disc for £3612 which is a big chunk off the RRP of £4250

    https://fudgescyclesonline.com/product/2019_specialized_tarmac_men_sl6_expert_disc_

Strangely, this is the only Tarmac model they sell.

I guess HMRC are sending a message that you might get away with something for a while but we can catch up with you anytime in the future.

Does seem to be similar to anti-doping agencies retrospectively testing for drugs in frozen samples.

According to Wikipedia, we might be OK with helium after all.

Maybe see if the new supply pans out before we go crazy with the balloons.

Lots of stories of people doing long commutes in their electric cars. Wouldn’t it be even better to get a job closer to home and maybe cycle once in a while.

There is a well known fault with the G Tech Air Ram. I helped a relative fix theirs. There is a plastic gear in the head that loses its teeth. New gear is widely available on ebay.

Many years ago a friend had a Peugeot road bike with ridiculous clearance for the rear tyre and was plagued by punctures. He reckoned that sharp grit that stuck the tyre was getting pushed deeper into the tyre by the tight clearance.

Get a wireless driveway alarm. It’s like a wireless doorbell with a battery powered PIR detector instead of a push button. There is a wireless receiver in the house that beeps when anyone goes into the garage. We turn it off during the day and on at night. If it goes off by mistake then it doesn’t annoy the neighbours.

Got mine from Amazon, think it was made by 1Byone. Only about £15.

It’s not all about litres of volume unless you are a tennis ball salesman.

Focus estate boot is wide and flat with no side intrusions so you can get a mid size FS bike in without taking the wheels off.

Thanks for the ideas! Came home on Saturday morning and just about missed the worst of the floods! A40 had lots of small floods but we were eventually stopped by the police at Crickhowell and told to go up to Talgarth. Went up to Hereford and Ross on Wye and came home via Gloucester then Swindon.

Went riding on three of the days.

Day 1 and we had great weather. We did Cwm Rhaeadr which was only 3 miles from the cottage. Long climb and I really liked the red descent. My wife was a bit nervous but enjoyed it, especially the windy bit in the middle.

We went on the road up to Llyn Brianne and the women at the coffee stall said the Doethie Valley was worth it. So we crossed the dam and through the forest to the chapel. Walked up the rocky climb and eventually found the turn down the bridleway. Great track but a bit boggy in places and stream crossings were tricky. We eventually came out and I had a birthday pint at the Towy Bridge Inn. It was 4pm and no food until 6pm but they made chips for us.

Day 2 we went to Brechfa in 20 degree sunshine and we both did the blue and rode up over the top and down to the second car park and had lunch at the Black Lion. My wife did the blue again and I did the red Gorlech trial which had an awful lot of climbing which I don’t mind but it was worth it. Trail was a bit scrappy under all the leaves at the bottom but a good blast.

Day 3 I went out on my own in the rain and tried to get up to Mynydd Mallaennd but it was really wet so I wimped out and did Cwm Rhaeadr again. Slippery rocks in the wet.

Cheers for the tips and maybe next time we can try going south to the Black Mountain.

Cwm Rhaeadr sounds great and we are staying in Cilycwm as well!

Llyn Brianne sounds good as well.

Did some riding around Black mountain a few years ago so will try that again.

    Cheers!

My shimano brakes default to 160mm rotor and need adapters to use bigger rotors. SRAM must be similar so maybe look to see if they sell a 180mm adaptor?

Frame is a standard BB30 so would expect the cups to be standard as well.

Specialized try and make it confusing by calling it OSBB but that frame is a BB30. I have the same frame and upgraded to a Shimano chainset from the original FSA chainset. I fitted the Praxis BB30 to 24mm Converter.

It was the raw finish with red logo and graphics so looked good with red hubs 🙂

New frame is darker shade with orange!

Frame cracked on the weld where the top tube meets the seat tube. Still rides great!

Problem is the Diverge has a crack in it. Specialized have been really good and new frame is on it’s way. It’s a different colour and won’t match my fancy red hope hubs now! So I was thinking about an alternative.

It has been great for getting to work and I have done some great road rides around the surrey hills on it.

    Thanks for the reply.

New frame, bought as frame only as have all the components/wheels from my Diverge.

    Budget is £600.

Probably going to be aluminium or maybe carbon. Don;t want anything heavier than a Tripster AT so steel is out.

I have a push fit adapter in my Diverge so can use that on the new frame or threaded.

Bolt through is what I want. I use mudguards all year round. No rack.

Cheers. Will look at the Avro but on quick look seems to only whole bikes only.

I bought one in 2012 and had lots of trouble with the chain coming off the big ring on bumpy ground. The front mech on the lowest setting was too high above the chainring so the chain could jump off. Eventually changed the mech from a sram to shimano and it was a bit lower and the problem went away. Bigger chainring would have helped as well.

I replaced the BB30 in my specialized road bike with a praxis converter. Now have an Ultegra chainset instead of the specialized original.

    https://www.merlincycles.com/praxis-bb30-bottom-bracket-conversion-93683.html

Great bit of kit. Same converter fits PF30 or BB30.

Bikeline were great and asked for a £1000 upfront payment from the insurance company, which we got. Dealing with the insurance company over the bike was a pain as they were looking at ebay to value my bike!

Eventually, they asked me to take it Carbon Bike Repair in Leatherhead who prepared a detailed quote for repairs and the insurance company paid the whole lot straight away.

My eventual payout was for everything and they just took off the interim payment and bike fix cost off the total.

Hopefully, you are not dealing with Surrey Police! I was hit by a car that turned across me. Fractured vertabrae in my neck, finger and rib after flying through the air. 4 days in hospital. Filled out all the forms and Surrey Police sent me a letter saying no action. Driver admitted full liability and I got a good payout after using Bikeline.

Had a phone call from Surrey Police a year later to check on my injuries and they had me down as having minor injuries! Lady on the phone was shocked and they would put it down as seriously injured. Surrey Police are useless.

Over 2 years ago and back to full fitness. Had a stiff neck especially on the bike. Changed the way I ride, I am not nervous on the road, but more cautious.

As mentioned above there is a good chance the chain will bounce off the big chainring on bumpy ground.

My Whyte 29c did it a lot and it was worse as it would jam as well. Stupid direct mount block was too high. Changed to a Shimano xt mech which was 2mm lower and it was fine

I bought a new petrol ST estate last year. It’s an ST3 which has leather Recaro seats which are really nice but quite narrow. Got Sync 3 which only appeared towards end of 2016.

Mine is the facelifted version which came out at start of 2015.

Friend on mine saw mine and bought one as well!

Lots of gadgets including adaptive xenon headlights, cruise control, sat nav, heated steering wheel etc.

Great car, really good to drive. Even my wife says she enjoys driving on windy roads.

Plenty of power but being front wheel drive does tend to wheelspin if too greedy with throttle in lower gears.

Done about 8000 miles and currently averaging about 31 mpg.

ST3 is keyless entry which can be a problem so keep keys in faraday pouch when in house.

Bought gap insurance for £170 so if it gets stolen in the next 3 years I get full invoice price back. Quite a few around if you look so not that uncommon.

A wireless driveway alarm is a good idea. Infra red sensor inside the shed and the receiver in the house chimes when anyone goes inside. You can turn it off during the day if you are using the shed.

I have had one from 1byone on Amazon and it’s good and cheap. This is the newer version.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/1byone-Wireless-Security-Driveway-Weatherproof/dp/B00WG2VVV2/ref=pd_sbs_201_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=T0CRZES253QQZ89WBWYJ

Don’t have to worry about it going off by mistake and annoying the neighbours as it only sounds inside you house.

Get a personal injury lawyer on your side and they will sort everything out.

I used https://www.bikeline.co.uk/ and they were excellent.
