It’s been mentioned before, but the Sonder Transmitter is an absolutely cracking 27.5 frame.

I built one up during lockdown while my FS bike was waiting on fox to fix the shock. It’s an absolute hoot to ride and so light. Internal routing, 2.6 tyres and it has bottle bosses.

What I will say don’t be tempted to downsize on the tyres unless you are running short cranks. I put 2.35 on it to reduce weight for some more XC type riding and while it is super fast (it really is, rolls so well) with 175mm cranks I have hit pedals in loads of places. Didn’t have that issue when I was running 2.6

The only drawback for me was wheel size – I prefer 29 – so I’ve picked up a Sonder Signal frame which is very similar in numbers to the transmitter.

I can’t see your photos without a google account, but I still wanted to say fine choices sir!

I might be a bit biased, as I have just started building up on the exact same frame.

    Enjoy that first ride!

Teams interview? Well I would say jacket and tie are definitely overkill there. Speaking from very recent personal experience I found the best balance was one of my black casual shirts as the only attire change from my normal t-shirt. I also had a fresh beard/ hair cut.

Where I invested my preparation was a combination of video and audio. I picked up a decent webcam to plonk on top of my monitor, put a couple of LED panels I have kicking around for photography either side of my screen, balanced the output of each to ensure the massive window on my left didn’t result in half my face in shadow. I also cleared up the background a bit so there were no major distractions. For audio I ended up using a headset for the interview. I have a Jabra speakerphone thing but the mic sounded quite tinny and the mich with the logitec webcam sounded even worse. My Plantronics business headset on the other hand sounded brilliant so I went with that.

My rationale was simple – I wanted the interviewer to be able to see my face as clearly as possible but more importantly hear me well enough that it felt like we could be in the same room. Did it make any difference to the outcome – I have no idea – I may ask at some point. Did I feel more confident based on how I was presenting myself? Absolutely. Above usual effort on my appearance then go to town on the tech & settings for video & audio – which is exactly what you would expect from the particular IT based line of work I was interviewing for.

Hi & welcome Lauren! Look forward to seeing more news in there with the front page content (especially if it includes doggos!)

I am currently riding on a Ergon Sm10 that came with my Canyon Neuron. I find it ok for shorter rides but honestly I think the shape of the padding is just odd – the pad profile near the inner thighs is remarkably square compared to my SDG Bel Air 3.

Thanks folks, by and large all pointing towards me not being an idiot for thinking about stripping/using the parts I have. The more I have thought about it the more sense it makes.

Stripping a bike always gets you more cash for it, but takes time and more risk packing and sending off parts.
I’d buy the hardtail frame you want and build up with the best parts from the 3 bikes you have.
Then maybe keep back one or two spares of easily damaged / worn bits like rear mechs, chains and BBs and flog the rest on an ebay £1 listing weekend.

    Cheers.
Agree, posting individual bits is a ballache. Although since royal mail started doing collections is it certainly less of a ballache. The bits off the canyon are pretty much the best parts of all the bikes so will pretty much strip that back to the frame then decide what to do with the left over stuffs.

So: you may struggle to buy parts for a 29er hardtail in the first place, or buy a whole bike at this point, for that matter. At this point, you may want to have a bike you can actually ride, rather than a slightly vague delivery date for parts. Maybe move stuff across from the Neuron (which is a pretty tidy frame, by the way) and see how you go. Assuming you’re not chopping lumps off the steerer tube, for example, you can always put the Neuron back together again and sell it on if it’s not selling as a frame only at the price you want. Of course, that also may mean you’re in to two bikes’ worth of parts in that case…

Pretty much it. I wasn’t planning an SLX build for the hardtail but since I already have it I may as well use it. Gives me scope to either buy the bits I actually want over time or realise that the bike I’ve built is still way more capable that me (It will be). I’ll be picking up a new wheelset down the line anyway because a lot of weight lives in the Canyon ones.

Usually the best way is a stealth add on here.
Come on, put full details up, size, condition, price and a few photos.

Not selling anything yet! Although when I do I suspect the Sonder Transmitter frame, DVO Diamond forks and Stans Arch S1 wheels will fetch me the most (Stealthy enough?). I’ll be listing stuff in classifieds here when the time is right.

page 48 is page 50 on the other side of the magazine, part of ‘the future of mountain biking’ article

Aha, thanks. I’d probably have got there in the end when I get round to reading that bit.

    No, not at all.

Based on a very simple wordpress template, the site itself is not secured up until something is added to a basket.
Couldn’t find much on the Germany address, but the Belgium one looks like a tiny shop with a totally different name/website.

    I would steer very clear.

I am slightly confused – particularly about where Page 48 fits in directly following the chunk of missing article. Does that follow on from something else, it seems interesting enough although lacking context…

Despite my best efforts to convince myself otherwise, I think I qualify here.

Went to the local trails and followed one of the lads down who ‘took it steady’ so I could keep up. Off he fkd into the distance… and I don’t actually mind because I had heaps of fun at my own pace.

Honestly fella, what you are experiencing is mechanically a non issue. It won’t impair braking performance now or in future, it won’t damage the pads and the noise will sort itself out over time.

But if you really want to make it an issue and clear the discs, fill your boots. Crack on with the wire brush, make sure you do both sides of the discs and have a good look at the edges. Due to the lack of use you won’t have a lip on the edges that has corroded more, so probably best stay away from the hammer.

Personally I would just drive it.

I then to boil the kettle and wit before it’s boiled before weighing and grinding my beans. Seems to work unless it’s a real dark roast – then I tend to set the kettle to 90 and do the same as above.

Always been a fan of the leather bush hat myself. Sure, they make me look like I should be living on a barge in a Deep South bayou but they are also quite comfy.

Well this thread has certainly been something of a rollercoaster that must be on at least it’s third revolution now.

It all comes down one thing at the end of the day, people can and will be dicks who are incapable of seeing how dickish they are even when called out about it. OP had that issue, as have many others who have shared anecdotes on this thread.

Are there too many dogs. Yes, absolutely. And I say this as a dog owner. Dog rescues are full to bursting and having to turn perfectly healthy dogs away ( almost certainly to get euthanised ) because of lockdown puppies. Puppies that, if people who got them actually took an ounce of responsibility and properly trained & socialised them would not have turned into canine hooligans. Even at hooligan stage, if people took their responsibility seriously enough they could resolve it but no… easier to just give them away.

As the owner of a large canine athlete who was a complete hooligan when we got him I am not going to deny that the journey was hard – it is. It took time with a good trainer who spent more time training me than the hound.

Just like anything else, being a good dog owner is a skill that you have to learn. Some things you can just tick off – the easy ones are discussed in this thread. Pick up the crap, put your dog on a lead when asked, don’t let it near other people or dogs unless you have appropriate permission. Very simple things that don’t require any skill – just a bit of decency and common sense. The skill is training your dog like the Lab that @Cougar mentioned – I know I neither have that level of skill nor an animal that will respond in the same way – so my hound stays on the lead everywhere.

    I’ve got a 2021 Neuron AL7.

It’s a bloody good bike – pedals really nicely but still has enough to be way more capable on techy stuff and downhill than my skillset needs.

(Probably be selling in a month so so to go back to hardtail)
