It would be nice but as another accidental specialist engineering type, I’m no better or worse than an adult pleasure operative working in a bordello. Take the money and go home.
Tbh , the job used to be interesting , now it’s consumed by audits, investigations & ill thought out training, which is always rolled out after a mess up.
Add to the mix ,5 yearly contract renewals = 3 tupies in 15 years=low moral & interest. They always promise a smooth transition ,Ha.
Thing is, I think I’m a bit institutionalised now and as the commute & terms are ok & the hours suit my childcare requirements ,I’ll stay.

I haven’t ridden that way for a few years – But there are definitely lots of options up Dent and around towards Ennerdale bridge. The Bway up from the garage takes you over a ford – always a wet/cold ride and more of an out and back with bits added on..
Nannycatch road takes you up to the Blakeley Raise stone circle . :-)

I did a 100km trail break ride a few years ago that used the ACTUAL nationwide car park!
The route used the Croft trail to get out to the ridgeway and some of it to finish.
It was a great ride. Beautiful countryside on a dry sunny day.
It would be hell now though.

I agree with stealth and change the rear guard for a black one.

Any time of the day if I’m not leaving the house!
I have some delightfully comfortable, black track pants ( which I bought for hernia surgery recovery, honest guv) . Missus J tuts every time I wear them. Which is often.I’m wearing a pair now. :-)
I don’t own pjs and I don’t get dressing gowns ,unless maybe for a swinging party. ;-)

Castle cragg. Can be scary(le puff,le pant)trying to keep up with them on the steep bit. All part of the fun.
Sale fell & wythop , lords seat & barf are all within easy reach of whinlatter with a laal bit of map reading.

Thought about this thread during my ride today….massive moth landed on my leg & saw some returning geese, hurrah.
Then, back at home , I revived a bumble bee with a drop of honey and then saw one pollinating the yellow primroses.

“was like being little again and getting a massive shove from your dad.”
    👍
I went out for a ride , 20 very quick miles north and 20 slow, sweary miles back. bastid wind.

Lols at crikey , keep it up. :-)
And for those posting pics of sunnier climes ….worm right off. ;-)
My issue is , I always have a bastid head wind home , ffs. Great training aid , but massive fun sponge.

I’ve given up on local off road as it’s so wet. The wind is properly twisting my melon. It seems like a steady 20 mph nearly everyday since January! Piss right off.

In 1985 my dad took 3 of us to Carlisle to see the cult.My first gig with my peers. Love tour , it was amazing , Billy Duffy and Jamie Stewart were sooo cool .We were waaaay too square , so I’d go again in at least a paisley shirt. Ha.
& I’d also like to go back to the Newcastle Big Country gig (same year, I think) and tell myself not to buy the white sweatshirt ,and then ruin it “down the front”.

Only been to see a few reformations , only the bands I love – The first Blondie one( few months before maria) , Cud ( didn;t have the amazing Mike Dunphy on guitar ,so sadly not great), Ride ( Amsterdam , pretty dam amazeballs!) & the Doves (who would be good in my shed let alone the Albert hall :-) ).
Also like to see the Specials before I kick off this mortal coil.
Good shout on Roxy music too – but has to be Eno era. :-)

I would like to have seen The Smiths , anywhere.
& depeche mode did a gig in barrowlands for bbc music, year or so ago – with Alan Wilder! It looked ace on the telly.
+ plus 1 for the beastie boys, anywhere.

    Ooh yes. Me.
I lost half of a Macgyver multi tool in a two hundred metre* stretch of muddy bridal way. It’s haunted me every since.
*=distance travelled before realising backpack was open after mechanical repair. I do still ride past the spot in the vain hope it’ll be ploughed up like treasure and return back to its rightful owner.

Horrible. I also worry for the future and as the gap between the haves and have nots increases ,I fear the “gang” outlet becomes a more attractive option than a rubbish government funded apprenticeships that pay sod all…
That and they can get away with it because there aren’t enough polis to keep up with major crime let alone mugging a burglary & don’t get me started on car jumping red lightS!
I got battered by 6 massive body builders once . They didn’t even mug me.
My face was a proper mess.
    Hope your son is ok.

I’m a supporter of the active euthanasia option.
Both of my grandmothers didn’t have the a dignified end. One in particular was kept alive for a few years post stroke when it was obvious there was absolutely zero quality of life. Tbh the cynic in me thought the care home was keeping her for financial reasons .
I eventually persuaded my grandad that maybe it wasn’t fair on my nana to be fed through a tube and he should let her go.
Fairly quickly after that the care home followed the Liverpool pathway and I suspect ,a hefty dose of opiates.
Sounds really horrible to say it and write it down but I was glad her suffering was over.

but Dexter! I did all of them.
Currently deciding wether or not to help junior j out, like dexters dad did. Ha .

Quite upset about this. I love his music, particularly sabres of paradise.
Our paths crossed quite a few times ,mainly in the 90’s/2000’s. He would always say hello.
You could pop in to the old blue last on a random Wednesday night and he would be sat in the corner playing rockabilly & reggae tunes. That always turned into a late one. :-)
& Every time he would personally get me into sabresonic made my heart soar(silly fanboi) . And then there was the daft punk gig , another late one…..;-)
He was an absolute Chap. RIP Andrew.
