This is something I’ve been looking at as I’m planning on doing Munich to Venice with Mrs SB this summer.

My current thinking is to use a couple of bike boxes we have kicking around in work, from cycle to work bikes that have been delivered there for the outbound flight and then just buy a couple of bike boxes from the Safe Bag place at Venice Airport on the way home.

Got a MK1 T5 in pieces in the cellar. For the last 10 years I’ve been saying that I’ll put it back together next year.

I assume you’ve cleaned the trap/u-bends to remove any debris.

The best pipe openers are sulphuric acid based. Something like this here

If the aerosols are only classified as Flammable then up to lL can be shipped under limited quantities exemptions.

However if it has a subsidiary hazard e.g. toxic then 120ml is the limited quantity limit.

The above only to applies to road transport.

There was a couple of inches of very icy rutted snow past the top of Pennel’s Vennel/Cool Runnings at Glentress on Wednesday night and the temp hasn’t been above freezing since.

    Fine under the trees though.

I’d avoid using Borax powder due to its repotox hazards i.e. “may damage fertility or the unborn child”

Cut a trouser shaped piece from an exercise mat and stuff it down the back of your trousers. It will add a bit of cushioning when you land on your bum.

It also adds a bit of insulation so you can sit about in the middle of the piste for longer to really annoy the skiers.

I got a pair of the Tenn shorts last year and have been great. Although the liners are a bit tight on the thighs.

….and see what the majority consensus is

Totally agree. Just making the point that the SNP shouldn’t try to use the votes of a minority, how Scotland voted in UK Brexit vote, to make a case for Indyref2.

i’m perfectly happy for toryville to remain part of the UK. crack on.

Personally I’d prefer an independent of state of glesga and the surrounding areas.

Chookterville is no concern of mine!

You’d need your passport to visit any of the 7 Stanes 😀

Do the borders or d&g have their own parliament?

    Aye at Westminster!

No point in SNP harping on about Scotland’s vote re Brexit then ignoring the vote of those in areas who (possibly) vote twice to remain in the UK.

So if it is all about democracy, as the SNP claim, if there is Indyref2 and the Scottish Borders along with Dumfries & Galloway vote no again does this mean we stay as part of the UK?

The smell of Calamine Lotion takes me back to having Chicken Pox. The smell of it gives me the dry boak to this day.

I you want percarbonate then buy a big tub of laundry destainer powder and use that in very hot water.

I’d not be happy using chlorine or some of the quaternary ammonium compound based driveway cleaners due to their poor environmental credentials.

Something sodium percarbonate based in very hot water or some hydrogen peroxide would be my recommendation.

It spins the whole valve when I do that and didn’t stop the drip. Ta though.

Hold the valve body with a pair of pipe grips or an adjustable spanner when trying to nip it up.

Did you also put her in the washing machine or was it a hand wash?

    I’ve been tempted…..

Use Sports Wash. Mrs SB used to work in a gym and her clothes smelled fine when washed up to the point that she put them on. Started washing her, and my, gear in Anti-Bac Laundry Detergent that is supplied to nursing homes and it was fine after that.

But you are allowed up to 15g of weed before they will prosecute in Berlin rather than the 6g in Munich.

Spray the stain with hairspray or WD40 just before putting it through a wash cycle. As with all oil/grease marks wash it on as high a temperature cycle as it will stand.

As a member of the public don’t get caught with Peroxide stronger than 12% .

It doesn’t really clean though and you need temperatures above 50 Deg C to really get it to work as a bleach.

You can always mix it with vinegar though to make Peracetic Acid which is an excellent bleach and disinfectant

There are loads of janitorial supplies places out there who will do cash sales at a trade counter.

Cleaning products for I&I (Industrial & Institutional) use are far stronger than retail products as there is an expectation that the general public won’t wear PPE, gloves, goggles etc and as such the retail products, where possible, tend to be less hazardous (have more water in them).

The Harz Mountains are a bit closer. I’d suggest Goslar although the campsite is a bit 1960s.

As a few people have pointed out it was in Scotland so just bin it and do not be tempted to communicate with them. You might get a follow up letter and even a third threatening court but just keep binning them.

In Scotland the responsibility lies with the driver but the registered keeper is under no obligation to identify the driver, unless it is for a speed camera ticket.

You can get 25Kg bags of dishwasher salt from catering/janitorial supplies outlets. You can also use it to de-ice your path in winter.

    selkirkbear

The salt is used to regenerate the resin in the built in water softener. If you don’t use it then, unless you use a detergent with built in chelating agent, your dishwasher will scale up blocking the wash and rinse nozzles and result in your crockery not looking its sparkling best.

is the first climb that bastard up to the 3 brethren? Looks like it might be from the profiles. In which case I’ll do my bit for thinning the crowds by tortoising up it

Duchess’s Drive in Bowhill is my guess

Why limit yourself to paved roads and a taxi. There is a train to the top of the Brocken in the Harz Mountains in Germany – only 1142m though
