What happens top driver 3 who has winter tyres on the front but is sensible enough not to drive faster, you could say drives more like driver 1? Perhaps driver 3 recognises that winter tyres will help them get out of difficult situations, up steep snow covered hills or down country lanes and not just drive faster.

Hmm, it lost credibility when she said she’d try and get through the corner as fast as she could rather than as safely as she could. I’ve seen cars with ice tyres lose it when driven as fast as possible.

I have had winter tyres for two years now, front and rear of the car.

On a front wheel drive I’ve never considered putting snow/winter/cold weather tyres on all four corners. They only go on the front as I can’t see there being any advantage, apart from lining Kwik Fit pockets, in putting them on the rears. Never had problems either.

Pat Nevin has just called for all the play acting and time wasting players to be taken out of the game. :-/ Can’t be a bad thing.

Not everyone can afford to shell out £720 on tyres, even if, being two sets, they will last twice as long.

But anyone who has a car that requires tyres that cost 180 per corner should be able to afford them without eyelids batting. And if your monthly salary is less than this I doubt that you can afford to run a car of any sort.

Interesting how people can’t be bothered wasting time changing a set of tyres yet will lose half a day trying to convince the world how awesome they are. Just sayin’.

I think it’s more a question of having to park on the street because you can’t afford a centrally heated garage. 🙂

A couple of seconds with colour balance, contrast and (brillo) which would be brightness, I think.

Nikon would be the better bet for the faster focusing. IMO.
Bear in that a cheap lens is going to have optical weaknesses, it is a big ask to get crisp images right through the 70 to 300mm range. I’d propbably go and have a play with them, if possible.

Reports seem to be that the Nikon has the edge on image quality, but not by much.
The Tamron has problems in the focusing department, searching in low light conditions.

If I were in your position and the house was losing so much heat so quickly, I’d look a spending money on insulation rather than gadgets.
