95% of the times I’ve got a not locking folder in my pocket. It gets used multiple times every day. I can totally see why for some people it maybe not be a useful tool but for me it is.

If I’m doing jobs at home or in the garden I’ll probably have a locking spyderco because it’s safe. Same if I’m camping or having a picnic.

My 3 year old is/was awful at sleeping in the day or night. We used a wrap/sling and just carried him around and he’d sleep a bit. He also never had the amount of naps we were told he should. He had 1 a day max and stopped napping at all before 18 months. I think so kids don’t need the normal amount of sleep.

I got really into sharpening and spent quite a bit if time and effort learning how to sharpen knives. I spend a few min when ever any get blunt never more than 10 min even for high wear resistant super steels.

I disagree that a steel hone is all you need to keep things sharp. Eventually they will need to be sharpened on a whetstone imo.

It’s not hard but there is so much nonsense online about it. I’d recommend getting a 1000grit shapton and watching the basic sharpening video by “stroppy stuff” on YouTube. After that and a bit if practice you’ll be shaving.

Another option could be using a froe instead of an axe. Much less scary/dangerous.

Leave them alone and they’ll be gone in a few months and not come back.

I’ve cut down from 4-5 very strong coffees a day to 1 or 2 cups of tea, I feel much better for it but I’ve also started adhd meds which impact on caffeine impact. I think in hindsight caffeine is rubbish for self medicating adhd but tastes amazing when it’s good.

Having seen the mtb videos and some of the current ones, it does look like he’s either in mental health or drug related or both episode.

Latest research I’ve seen says they are lasting more like 25 years which is great.

With the jeans your not supposed to wash for ages, how do you deal with the getting dirty. This might be a stupid question but it puts me off getting any.

Foot path, pretty good. Definitely better when dry.

Not on the NICE guidelines. Pretty much conclusively proven to be a ineffective treatment. My say job is spinal physio in the NHS. I generally avoid commenting on threads about msk pain because you know, work life separation.

Totally normal, never had an issue with it in normal life.

@dmorts no, they spoke to my wife who’s known me for 8 years. I think they would like to speak to someone from your childhood but they didn’t mind that I couldn’t arrange that. The pre assessment questions have stuff about childhood to fill in and I put as much stuff in as I could.

My initial assessment was a few initial questionnaires then an hour interview. As people have mentioned there needs to be evidence of symptoms in childhood but that can just be you talking through things didn’t need any report cards.

I’ve just been diagnosed via psychiatry-uk. They were really good and I’ve just finished medication titration. My gp will continue to issue my medication via a shared care agreement.
Because you can get a tolerance to meds over time I try and keep as low a dose as possible and have the odd day off.
Without a doubt medication has been life changing and having a diagnosis has helped me come to terms with things that I now know are due to adhd.
I’m happy to answer any questions.

Poor guy. Really doesn’t come across as being in a good way right now.

I’ve now been through assessment and have a formal diagnosis of adhd via right to choose.
I’ve started medication which has been really helpful.
There might be down sides with discrimination etc but for me so far the positives from treatment, understanding myself, work support have outweighed them by far.

Edit: I’m also starting to think meds for other mh conditions haven’t been particularly effective in the past. I actually think a lot of what I thought was anxiety was actually hyperactivity without an outlet.

Does anyone know any alternatives that don’t use awful steel. I have got used to s30 at the very least and the victorinox steel just goes blunt so so quickly for me.

He didn’t come across well in his latest video. I wonder if he’s always been like that or if things have not been going well for him.

As an msk physio its always a toss up if i read threads like this or not. My understanding is the evidence shows it no better than placebo. Steroid injections tend to pretty short term limited benefit as well.
I would say that we now know tkr implants last a long time and for the right person age shouldn’t always be a factor but of course I don’t know anything about your medical history so can’t directly comment or advise.

It’s a very different sort of fun for me. It’s more about the speed and working hard as well as beautiful views.
Also lycra is 100% the right stuff to wear. I was skeptical and self conscious at first but it’s just so much better for road riding as are peak less helmets and no backpacks.

Have you considered time pedals. My speciale 12s have been fantastic for years with no maintenance at all.

I’m going through the slow process of being assessed as an adult. My wife pointed out that all the symptoms fit me exactly and I’ve had trouble with managing life as long as I remember.
I always thought everyone had a similar brain but just some how managed better then me.
It’ll be interesting to see what the assessment shows.

I’ve got a second hand bike with apex and I’ve thought the brakes are crap as well. I thought it was because I was used to zee brakes. I’ll have to try sanding or changing the pads.

For various reasons I use my pocket knife quite a bit and often have it in my pocket. After thinking about the legalities and the impact on my job something showing up on a dbs check would have I stopped carrying an opinel and got a ukpk. Spyderco uk legal penknives are really good and feel pretty safe to use because of how you hold them.

Get a opinel no12 and keep it folded in your pack. Much safer and also less scary looking.

I stopped riding with gloves last summer and I’ve tried gloves again and again and I just hate wearing them. It feels really disconnected to me. I do sometimes scrape my hands up but its rare enough im not worried about it.

Ill have to try that. Especially if they get easier to release as they wear. Thanks.

The cleats are second hand and got about a years use before I got them. Ive used them a lot in the last 6 months indoors and out and they are still working OK while looking pretty beat. I guess compared the steel shimano ones they don’t last as long though.

I was under the impression esi were really slippy without gloves in the wet. Is that not the case?

What are mushroom style grips eg wax or longnecks like without gloves?

    @littleman
are you wiring them on with safety wire pliers? My grips have been rock solid since I started using them. Although to be fair I dont use uplift ever.

Do you wire them on? I find that keeps them pretty good and stops stuff messing them up too much.

I’ve got some speciale 12s which I really rate highly. The cleats are looking warn after a lot of use but they are working fine still.
