I totally agree TBC does seem odd, I’m not sure what security systems they have in place to prevent fraud.

I think you have the perfect answer there hugh…I might tag that on the end of my email to them!

I have blanked everything out except name and 4 numbers using photoshop but it feels quite an uncomfortable thing to do.

send it through with just the first 4 digits visible

That’s what I was thinking….blank out the rest apart from name.

    Cheers guys

I’m not far away, few miles. Give me a shout if you need to, can pick up and post as I don’t have much work on next week.

+1 for Nukeproof Critical, for pads with such good protection they really are not too intrusive. They stay in place and don’t slip, might get a bit hot if was a proper nice day but what pads don’t. Sizing was spot on too.

I think CRC had £10 off last time I looked.

    Edit: Just checked CRC…back at £45 🙁

I have 140 Recons (351 solo Air) on my FS bike. I Had 100mm Tora’s on a HT a couple of years back. I always quite liked the Tora…as a basic fork it was heavy though. I think the Recons I have now are much better, not exactly light and still basic relatively speaking but solid, reliable forks that simply work. Fit and forget really. £108 is a bargain.

I’m a bit stumped…I think I understand your problem but forgive me if I have got confused!

The only thing I have found having 2 sets for one bike is that I have to align the brake calipers for each set. I have no idea if this is always the case when changing wheels or if you have such an issue.

I agree the hope hub is a noisy bugger, hated it for the first few rides but now not so bothered.

What is your front hub that you have to use?

Thing is if you are going to end up with a great all round wheel set spending the cash on Flows will that be more than getting another set for racing? Would they even be a good race choice(flows)? I wonder what light race wheels you could get for 120-150, maybe superstar have something?

What bike is it? Do you have an idea of what travel fork it will take? If not I wouldn’t go above 100mm, just get something decent and that will give you a much better result than going big. As others have said it could well screw up how the bike handles.

Edit…those Recons look perfect and a good price but check out the German websites, some cracking deals to be had.

If you want some light, tough do it all wheels, Hope 2 evo and Arch rims, or Flows for a bit of extra strength. Sell the others and you have a nice do it all wheelset and haven’t spent too much. Change tires and not the wheels, easy tubed not so much fun tubeless.

Edit, nowt wrong with second hand!

150mm 32s are pretty flexy IMO.

Would you say they are flexy even with a maxle? Just wondering as I am pondering some 150 Sektor forks.

+1 for what Taff said. I thought about keeping my old wheels as a second set when I bought new wheels. The reality is re-centering/aligning the calipers each time.
As this is the case I will just swap tires when I need to. Being tubeless it is a pain but as the sealant should be replaced every so often I tend to run summer tires and winter tires…fresh Stans each time….seems to work. With tubes though I would wouldn’t think twice about a quick tyre change.

That video needs a soundtrack. I’m thinking something like this

Ha Ha nice…..think this also works with the CCTV trying to keep up!

Edit…I’m being totally seriously….start the car vid just after the benny hill sound track….it works really well!

It IS a start and a very good one!

I would be really interested in finding out how many people take advantage compared to how many energy gels are sold so an update in the future would be good.

Fair play TBC but I fear people who drop their energy gel wrappers also drop their crisp packets, coke bottles etc anywhere they see fit. Will take more than 5p off for these idiots to change their ways. 🙁

I noticed this too recently while sticking new tires on, never bothered about minimum pressure. 14 stone, run well under advised pressure but am tubeless. Just go with what feels right and touch wood (head) no problems so far.

This is a review of my Holiday and not yours… So politely BORE OFF!

Totally uncalled for. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and may not have such a positive experience like you with that particular company. In contrast they may have used a different company second time round and had a very positive experience.

I for one have been thinking about a biking holiday in Spain and welcome all input so I can make an informed choice who I book with.

Unfortunately your review does read like an advert, maybe that’s just your writing style, maybe not.

Think I’m as tight as you NW, I would much rather find a way of doing without the car for a few days than getting 2 new wheels on in an hr. Then having to list the old ones on feebay. But yeah, the key is making sure the job will be done right.

Obviously it will depend on the wheel etc but £50 is less than I thought.

The OEM route is one to check out for sure but as it’s a wheel specific to a certain model of car I doubt it will be cheaper.

I would say you would be out of pocket with out a doubt, if you contacted the police and told them you have reason to believe you bought stolen goods they may ask you why you did so in the first place! If the sale was in good faith of the parts being genuine you will prob be ok, especially if you can give them the details of the seller. They will prob look on you favorably for being honest and coming forward.

I don’t care what TJ says/links to. I have enough personal experience to know that not wearing a helmet would have left me in a bad way more than once. If you come off a bike and your helmet is trashed and your head is not why wouldn’t you?

My first experience of tubeless was with comp rims and the bonty kit. Never missed a beat.

Only thing is getting the tires to seat. I just stuck a tube in, inflated it then took it out. I found that with one side properly seated I could pop in some Stans and inflate with a track pump.

BTW If anyone is interested I have a set of Rhythm Comps including strips and valves for sale having got a pair of Hopes!

I just bought a Gusset Staff stem. 70mm +/-5 Deg, Alloy 31.8mm, Inc 25.4, 26.0 Shims. Also comes with black and white face plate. 146g for the 60mm so the 70 can’t be too heavy!

Looks very nice and shiny too.

Good Q retro83…. I have no idea how to route these things… looks like it might not be so great on a FS in that position. But the other way might not be much better considering it’s cable driven and not air like the Reverb.

    Anyone got any ideas?

Just because you can buy a £5000 Leica doesn’t make a £100 compact expensive or work less well

Find me a £100 compact that works as well as and produces the same results as a Leica….I will buy a 1000 of them right now!

    Edit…OK may be just a few…I’m skint.

Double edit…. I’m a photographer and know my stuff so Vivitar ain’t going to cut it.

Cheers colournoise, yes I have seen the Forca one too…from ebay? As far as I can tell they are pretty much the same thing. Your feedback is encouraging, yeah the traildrop comes with a boot and from what I can tell has gone through a few improvements since being available.

I think the traildrop has a 4 inch drop which is enough..even if I have to service it now and then it’s still a bargain. Having used a mates Reverb I didn’t know what something at this price would be like. The Reverb feels so smooth and the warranty is cracking too!

Race face cranks? Last time I had any kind of creaking was due to play in the cranks. Everything greased up well and torqued correctly? QR’s (if you have them) all nice and tight?
Sounds like pedals could be an area to look at if you can feel it, can you swap em and at least eliminate? Sorry…not much help!

Edit…cassette on and torqued/ greased properly?

What work have you got to do? Big areas are best using a strimmer with a 4 stroke engine cow-horn handles and a harness. Also a visor and some ear defenders should be used.

From my experience of grounds maintenance…some years ago admittedly a fixed blade is only good if you are clearing a wide area of long grass and things like brambles etc and you are pretty sure you don’t have to ‘tidy up’ around any fixed objects. Also you can get plastic and metal blades, the metal ones can be quite dangerous if you don’t have experience of using them. The plastic ones will at least shatter if you hit a rock.

But like I said it all depends on what you have to do. Is it a one off?(hire one) or on going Maintenance?

Thinking about it…I wish I knew some female mountain bikers…would be great to mix it up a bit. In reality the people I meet socially or through work who are bikers have all been male.
I know loads of female scuba divers though..not just warm water holiday stuff but north sea in winter doing a 40m wreck dive. What ever the sport a mix of male and female is nothing but a good thing.
