I put some cheapo Advantage wire beads on stans flow rims with stans sealant, work a treat. although the rear had to be be pumped up a couple of times but after a ride it was good.

Gutted, do you know what the problem is? Slipped disk? Or less serious? I suppose it’s not worth the risk either way.

I did the same a couple of days before 2 weeks diving in the Maldives, lost a lot of money and spend over 5k getting my back fixed privately while I should have been underwater. Still smarts. My back was totally **** tho.

might…not mite! What not wot!!! Damn it! are you 12?!!

On topic though I have read your various threads on an adjustable seat post. I too have the 27.2 and have looked at the HiLo. Available if you go German! (with remote) actionsports.de

I took a risk on this

    http://www.bigmassive.co.uk/traildrop/

The day I received it I also received an email informing me the remote was defective. The cable was prone to snapping. On looking at the product the seat post is a good bit of kit and it is obvious that the cable is the weak point.

I have the choice of sending it back or waiting on the redesigned remote. So far.. I am still waiting on the new remote, should be with me in the next 10 days. Pretty shabby experience really, will make my mind up once it arrives.

Starting to think that spending £200 on a GD or getting the HiLo from Germany might have been better after all. 👿

Take a step back. 2 year old (lovely but hard work!) Plus the new addition means your relationship will be going through changes you may not be able to adentify add to that money being tight etc and when lots of crap things happen at once it feels like the world is against you. Its all stress and frustrating stress if it feels like you and your wife are being pushed apart instead of coming together.

The good thing is you have recognized there are problems if you can both do that that is even better. As others have said relate is defo an option if you both agree it might help. If not you could both agree to set aside some time, just the two of you and talk about stuff. The problem with doing it outside of counseling is that you can both become easily agitated when trying to make your point, especially if you think the other person doesn’t fully understand.

Pro help/councilling would be best and nothing to be ashamed of, I don’t think it means you have failed but more so that you both want to make your relationship succeed.

Also what BB is it? Race face? Change it, my experience is that they don’t ever last very long. Since going to XT I haven’t have problems with knocking under load. But it could be your pedals too.

    Rear is rubbing the rotor

Try re aligning the caliper if you haven’t done already. The method I have used so far and one that seems to work, is to loosen the bolts so the caliper can wiggle a bit, then I spin the wheel and re position the caliper by eye and ear. when the caliper is in a position where there is no contact between the pads and the rotor I tighten each bolt a bit at a time.

However before doing this I will check that the rotor is straight!

Is it defo the seat post where it attaches to the rails? I’m wondering if it could be the saddle it’s self?

Looking at my saddle the rails are seated into plastic, maybe its this connection you could try putting some kind of lube in. Never had this problem so just an idea!

I have had race face on several bikes, always the first things to go. BB’s are made of cheese and wouldn’t last a year! Swapped to XT when I had the chance and 2 years in no probs. Ditch it.

I used it when I had a slipped disk, shortly before I had surgery to correct it. (4 years ago now) No problems since but regular gym/core exercise etc.

The Tramadol was really strong stuff, I found. I was only given it when things got really bad. I couldn’t stand/walk without severe pain. Hardly slept in weeks and in tears for no reason a lot of the time. So when I got it it was a god send, started sleeping better and was able to be more mobile. I can’t remember the dose, but I never took more than was prescribed. I didn’t have any side effects as such but wouldn’t have driven while taking it even if I was physically able to.

I took it for a month while waiting for the surgery then stopped but I did feel like I wanted to take them at night because they whacked me out and I knew they would give me a good nights rest. That was the worrying bit, long term use I bet they would be really addictive.

Hope you get sorted soon. I think physio will help you loads but if it gets worse and surgery does become an option don’t worry about it. It seems like a scary thing to begin with but it’s not a bad procedure. When I woke up and the drugs had cleared out of my system, no pain. It was such a relief.

Nice vid, I really liked it. The different camera positions and the cam mounted on different riders made it more interesting….didn’t feel the need to skip any of it.

Those trails look amazing, can’t wait to get up there in Aug, hope the weather is as good as you had it. I do like the look of that Covert too!

I should say that I am no expert and have found this info out by joining a gym and having a personal trainer. While my gut is slowly starting to get smaller so are my legs and my arse etc.

You can’t do any kind of exercise that specifically removes/burns fat from one specific region of your body. Exercise will burn off fat but it does so consistently over the whole body. Sit ups etc will give you a kick ass six pack but will only be visible once you have reduced your over all body fat.

Apologies…I didn’t mean to be harsh on the vid quality, from what I have seen helmet mounted stuff seems to work the best as the head/neck is an awesome steady cam!

ahhhhh nice. helmet mounted cam next time maybe….felt a bit sick trying to keep up with that but 10/10 for fun. Can’t wait to head up there in a few weeks.

Might just be that your salsa QR just isn’t doing it’s job. Can you borrow one to check/eliminate one factor?

Thanks Onzadog, did you feel any play in the frame pivots when you found this out?

I checked for play, thinking this could be an option. The frame flexed under pressure but I didn’t find any noticeable play.

Up to now I have put the rear wheel in and tightened the QR well, then I re-set the brake caliper. I went for a quick test ride tonight and everything seems OK but I think the next long ride should determined if the problem is solved.

    Thanks all.

Is your MD your direct boss? I’m just wondering if there is anyone else who you could speak to?
But it sounds like as long as you are lining the MD’s pockets he/she isn’t that bothered about progressing the company and your position in it. Maybe because they are semi retired they feel no need to.

I wouldn’t go with option a, could back fire. Not only would you find yourself in a position where a bank wouldn’t touch you but also a prospective employer if things go really bad.

What about looking for a new job with a company that IS interested in what you can do for them and in return you get the benefits you seek.

Sounds daft maybe but you have a decent job and from someone who has really struggled to get back to employment after being made redundant, I would be sticking with it and looking to move on when possible.

Thanks for the reply chaps, only just seen them tonight.

I shall investigate the rear wheel, the bearings may be shot but they are only 8 months old and haven’t seen much action. Haven’t heard of the hope hub squeal before so will double check it’s not coming from the caliper.

    Thanks again!

Got a NN front and a RR rear on my flows and never had an issue. all 2011 kit. Had no idea Stans no longer recommend the use of any Schwalbe tyres.

been looking at the spesh option so might go that way when it’s time to change. But for now I’m not worried.

I use the Nukeproofs, really good pads. Don’t slip, feel great. I would recommend. Only feel them while walking or standing up on the bike but not in a bad way. While riding they are spot on. Done some rides in the recent hot weather too, they were fine.

Not much experience of cracked frames personally but if that was my bike I would just keep an eye on it, assuming it was just a hack bike. Main bike that might take some grief, not sure I would risk the dentistry.

Warranty….give it a shot, you never know. But 10 years old, it’s a crap thing to happen but it’s had a good life!

I would be interested to see if spesh replaced after 10 years.

I would second the don’t replace unless it’s **** thing as other posters have said. If I upgrade I take into account the resale value of the parts I want to replace.

Forks might be your best bet. New crankset prob won’t feel that much different, unless they have play. If you changed your shifters/ rear cassette/ front and rear derailleur you would feel a big difference in shifting.

But yeah forks would be worth looking into. Not cheap though and sticking light forks on a heavy bike (is it heavy, relatively speaking?) may not make much difference in weight wise but would defo give you a smoother ride up front.

I would check out the classifieds on here, for the price of some nice new forks you might be able to get a decent set of forks plus other bits you are looking at changing. Edit…sorry has already been mentioned but worth looking at.

The other option is looking for a nice second hand bike and sell this one?

You are only allowed to use it in Cafe Nero to check what the weather is like outside while you bugger about on your iPad!

    Otherwise….. I wouldn’t……

Its pretty easy to get wrapped up in tyre choice, I do it all the time….read loads of reviews and waste loads of time pondering what to get. Before I know it I’m out on a ride, nothing has changed and I could not care less.
I do like it that people start tyre threads on here even though I haven’t got the balls to do it personally! But when you think that a new set is going to cost maybe £50 and up (unless you find a great deal) I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask what other use. I do however advocate the use of the search function.

Just spend a bit of cash to make it right, amedias has given you the best options… or spend even more cash with your dentist to have the remains of that steerer removed from your face when your stem pops off.

Thanks peter, it’s reassuring to hear it is standard practice with companies outside the UK.

Its just that I have never come across this before even when using other German bike shops like Actionsports.de

I have sent the image with most of it blanked out….live and learn I guess!

Well, email sent now…..I will let you know if my account gets emptied/identity stolen locks on front door get changed while I’m at work, end up being perused by government agents etc.

    Thanks for the replies.
