Genuine question for the ipad users. If I retrieve a word doc from say my email account can I view it, make changes then send a word doc to the sender?

I don’t think you can edit word doc’s on an ipad. May be a work around but it is one of the many things that put me off them.

I like some Apple stuff but am no fan boy…the only thing I have is an imac but it’s 4 years old and will building a PC next time round.

If you are after pure functionality for a decent price get him the best laptop you can find for £400. (price of basic ipad)

ipads are cool for sure but be savvy and get what is right for you.

I had an external drive fail so I took the drive out and ordered a kit that lets you hook it up to another PC via usb.

I wanted to get the data off but didn’t know if the HD failed or something to do with the enclosure. Turns out an ide thing was fried and the HD was ok.

It can be very dangerous. I remember when I was about 13-14 my dad was driving us through France. Ahead at the side of the road he saw a drunk woman. There wasn’t a path as it was a very rural location but she was well over to the side but was wobbling a bit. My dad seemed to take offence to this and decided to pass her as close as he could to shake her up. I remember distinctly being really scared as he didn’t seem to be giving her much room at all.

He passed her so closely that the wing mirror hit her arm and broke it while sending her spinning. The Police were involved and my dad claimed she fell into the road as he passed. I knew that was crap, as did my brother, my dads new partner and her daughter but no one dared call him on it.

We haven’t spoken in years, but you get a nasty person who uses their car to make a point and people can really get hurt.

Edit…I also remember the conversation we had in the car as he approached…we were pleading with him not to pass too close to her. What a massive dick.

I only ask as I used to drink a few cups of proper coffee a day then quit. I tend to have one first thing then make sure I drink 2 liters of water thru ought the rest of the day. Feel much more alert and less tired. Plus I eat less at lunch time.

Ha…I’m not that far behind you. Found myself unemployed a couple of years ago and despite looking at a lot of different things I went back to photography and started to freelance. Thankfully it is working out but I would love the reassurance of a regular wage! If environment if your main problem what chance is there you can find another LBS? I know that will not be easy but even if you have to commute working with a good bunch of folks could easily change everything.

Still life/interiors/landscape and a bit of people for advertising/design mainly. Also do all my own retouching

+1 for ratchet straps. Just be careful of transporting such a long item on a hatch..a passing copper might be having an off day and pull you. Are there any legal limits for this stuff??

As a 16 year old (many moons ago) I loved photography. I’m now a photographer and still undertake personal projects regularly. I find it keeps me interested and learning new techniques.

However I find having other interests like MTB and scuba diving nice to break things up.

I guess it might be different if you have a vocation now and a hobby you think could be a new vocation. More details on what you are thinking about doing Al?
