    Thanks mtbtomo,
Had a look at Freeride but kept on coming back to Switchbacks. Don’t really want XC so looks like we are on the right track. 🙂

    Nice comments section!

In a way it makes me sad and I want to reply some sense into them but on reflection its just better to let them boil themselves into an early grave of hatred. Suckers.

From personal experience car park bumps are an insurance nightmare but at least you have a witness. Do you have the drivers plate or anything? If so I would formalise with the police and contact your insurance company (to register the accident), supply all the details and see what they say.

Suck it up princess, your house sounds awesome, the kind of place I dream of! Sounds to me like an echo comes with the territory, so to speak.

Last time I fitted forks I used a wide gauge pipe cutter rather than a saw. Very neat, didn’t even need to file it to round off the edges. £5 from B&Q.

Try another one! 2 hrs is pretty daft. Join Just Eat or something. You live in the sticks or something?

I can, the op clearly just wants to show the previous owner how he’s getting on with the build.

Maybe they should get a room.

    I can’t see the hyperdrive…..

Edit. Must be in the green box.

For the love of god I hope the OP hasn’t had sex on it….hyperdrive would be acceptable.

I am also looking at a 6k car. Focus keeps on popping up (urgh) but I quite like the look of a Citroen C3, small but funky interior. Kind of shouts ‘grandad’ in a way unfortunately.

Also Seat Ibiza…maybe a Kia Ceed or a Hyundai? Depends on how old or how many miles you are prepared to accept. Depends on what you are after but I would happily go a bit older to get something with low miles and a higher spec.

For reference I have a 2005 Astra 2l turbo sport back thingy. Its nice but costly to run and I never use the power it has.

I bought one of these about a month ago. Tried it on first though at a local Evans shop.

I’m 5″11 and 39 chest and quite broad shoulders, the large is a really good fit, pretty much perfect. I didn’t want anything too baggy or tight either. I just use a base layer underneath and once going, even in the recent snow it is great.

Arm pit vents work really well, found it to breathe very well too. I’m really happy with mine. 🙂

    God I wish I didn’t just see that…..

I would go to the classifieds and see whats on offer, maybe some solo air Recons. Problem is they might cost 120-150 but it would be worth it for a decent fork.

Have a look here for second hand stuff….

Another thought. What pads are you using? It might be that they are a thicker than formula branded pads?

    seavers

Just a thought, maybe you could be over filling the system with fluid? Therefore the pads can not retract away from the rotors?

I use a Gravity Dropper, Turbo model I think. Pretty sure there isn’t a rider weight limit.

Works really well plus easy to service and parts are cheap and easy to get hold of. Not as nice looking as a Reverb but certainly not ugly. Only thing is cost really but buy cheap buy twice was my excuse.

I have had something similar but with a savoury cheese filling. I think it was in France. They were awful.

Wow…. Loads of stuff there I had not found on searches. The book looks like a good buy for planning the next adventure. Absolutely fantastic, thanks chaps.

It has Caffeine and Taurine listed. Like Red Bull. 2 things I avoid when doing exercise.

I have a 5 (3 years) and getonyourbike has a point, it can blow through the travel but maybe if that is a problem for you get your shock pushed and problem solved.
It’s really subjective…I get that, from my perspective I have never had a problem pumping a berm, dip or the lip of a jump. In fact it feels natural and progressive.

    Isn’t the 5 getting a bit outdated?

Isn’t that like saying the iPad 3 is out of date? It’s still great at what it does.

    Runs for cover..

Maybe get them from a German retail site, can be much cheaper. I have used them loads. Reasonable delivery times etc.

    How about SLX?

Have XT shifters, got rid of the windows and use with a gravity dropper lever. Mate has SLX and he removed the windows to use with his reverb.

SLX/XT bet there isn’t that much difference in real life these days.

Holy Grail innit. No bike is going to do everything….get 2 or get fitter and ride one. That is my plan anyway, can’t afford 2!

Always had Avids, they just seem to have been on every bike I have bought..well except some Hayes that came on a Trance a few years back. They just felt wooden and I swapped them for some Avids based on price.

The Elixir 5’s I have now are fine. Bleed maybe twice a year and they do the job just fine with superstar pads in them.

Would love to try some Hope’s or Shimano XT’s but my mates have Avids too! If I came into a bit of cash to blow on a new item for my bike it would go on brakes but I would be fed up if they didn’t perform significantly better than the Avids I have now.

I edit video for work on an i7 imac (FCP), works a treat but they are not cheap. The trade off is that you have an incredibly stable machine that will last years and have resale value.

If you go PC (Adobe premier route rather than FCP) you could easily afford an SSD and a bunch of fast HDD’s. Either way go i7, video editing/rendering uses processor cores so you don’t need an awesome graphics card. Just one that will support a nice 27 inch monitor. When editing a 2660 x 1440 monitor makes all the difference.

Got some Maxxis Ignitors on at the mo, they were a little tight to fit but no broken levers. Find them pretty good but last few night rides have been a mud fest and they do clog up.

Before that I had Nobby Nic’s, they were easy to fit but I didn’t get on with them.

I’m running them tubeless. The Nic’s were fragile and I would always see sealant seeping out of what would have been punctures. The Ignitors have been great so far so happy to keep them on for another year.

Had an Acer Timeline x for a year or so. i3 3 GB Ram 320GB HDD. Use it for same stuff as you, its great. Also had HP ones. Both brands seem to make decent units at that kind of price….maybe £350.

Had an Asus which fell apart in months. Never again.

Just do loads of research and read loads of reviews…you won’t go far wrong.
