There is an app called tablet remote but I don’t think it will act as a remote for iPlayer.

Only work around I can think of is not connecting your tablet to the TV via HDMI and finding an app that will ‘beam’ iPlayer to your TV via DLNA. If you don’t have a DNLA TV then you could get Now TV for a tenner. That will put iPlayer on your TV.

If you don’t have a tablet but have a laptop and/or a desktop I reckon there is a place for one. Yes, a toy for the main part but it depends on how much you use it.

I was pretty anti tablet for a while, OK laptop and desktop work perfectly. Then I took the plunge and bought one. I was surprised by how much I use it. Mainly emails, web, iPlayer and streaming movies from my NAS. Great for train journeys, nice to have on hand on the go. Also nice not to have to fire up my Laptop/PC when I just want to do a quick email check. They are a luxury and not a necessity (tech wise). I currently have an iPad but if I wasn’t so locked into the Apple world a Nexus 7 would get my money.

I wouldn’t do that to your arse with a smart phone….

    ….if I was you

    Nexus 5 = A&E

iPhone 5 = Understanding partner and some butter.

You guys have seen universal soldier right? Of course he really did this, probably after a few Coors. Probably did it in the buff for kicks after the final take.

I have done zero exercise in the last month due to working away and decorating on the weekends I have been back.

Went for a ride today and wow….it was a wake up call. Out of 20 miles the first 5-7 were a struggle but the rest were fine. The hills were the hard part. I reckon 5-6 rides and it will feel better. Also just joined a gym for an easy mid week work out. Getting fit is a battle but well worth it.

As you have been running I would think the cardio aspect is spot on just the bike legs need work. When I was going to the gym regularly I found the weight training helped too, it was easier to chuck my bike around.

You can’t buy niche – that’s just pseudo niche, for people with money who think spending it on stuff makes them niche. Real niche just comes from being niche – it’s a state of mind thing….

I could not agree more. Some people just have a sense of style, an abundance of creativity and embrace different ways of thinking and solving problems.

Any douche with more money than sense can buy a 10K hammer with a nice handle.

Sorry…I see what you are saying. I feel vulnerable sometimes and as a fleshy mass with no protection against idiots I may at some point be a victim. However, most car drivers, like myself give cyclists consideration. When I am on the bike I am super aware and try my best not to get into a position where I might get flattened.

I have always liked RS forks but the only thing about the forks in the link that would put me off is the pop lock. From my experience they work quite well but it’s just another cable to look after. Not only that but if you come off and mash the lever it’s something else you will pay through the nose to replace. Have X fusion got anything that would suit?

    This on the other hand..

Reminds me of la tomatina in Bunol with more fire and less tomatoes.

At least in Bunol there are locals on hand with hose pipes at the ready.

Only ever send my stuff to LOCO tuning. I have tried to find a local (Yorkshire) service option but they all say that they send them off anyway. Not asked who they use.

You might not want to take your forks off but unless you can find a local guy who will do it for you then it means sending them to people like LOCO, PLUSH, MOJO.

Its really not that bad, the service cost should include return postage.

I recently went to Viva in Leeds. We went as a group of 10 which was a mistake. They are only set up for couples and tables of four, the basement is reserved for groups!

I had heard really good things so didn’t mind the basement idea too much. For us it was not a good experience, they have 2 big tables in the basement and the other table was pretty loud and sweary. That aside I looked forward to some really nice food.

Unfortunately it wasn’t half as nice as I hoped it would be as reviews from friends and trip adviser indicated. price wise it’s reasonable, food wise it’s OK but I couldn’t recommend it.

In contrast I have had really good food at Bibis recently. Never tried Jamies.

It really depends on what you want from your phone and how much you sync it with your apple laptop.

I have always used Android phones HTC, LG, Samsung etc and they are great, Jelly Bean was nice to use. However I recently jumped ship and went to an iPhone. The reason being I have an iMac, iPad so it just makes things so much easier when syncing calenders, contacts etc.

The great thing about Android is that you have much more influence on how it looks and works on the phone. I really enjoyed playing with that aspect. When it came to it though what I wanted was a phone I could use on the go that would easily sync with all my other devices without me spending ages trying to find a work around. What I am saying is, if your phone is just your phone and you like to play with it go for android (Nexus 5 would be the better choice though). If you need your devices to hook up easily and you can’t be arsed with finding a way to make stuff work get another iPhone.

It’s all really personal and I don’t subscribe to one thing verses another fan boy stuff. I have an Android tablet and a windows laptop in the mix and enjoy using them just as much as the apple stuff.

    3×10, 2×10 1×10?

I have 3×10 and go for the 114 and shorten if need be.

Edit: they come with a quick link don’t they? Wonder if that is one of the 114/112? Either way I take off the old chain and lay them side by side to match the length.

I was putting some finishing touches on some internal cladding in a summer-house I’m building. What did you do?

That sounds like a good day, I hope the summer house is looking good. Will you be painting it too or is going to be a wood finish?

I wasn’t at work today, nice week off for me! However I’m not doing anything fun! Just getting all those DIY jobs done that I have put off all summer. I’m making my way round the house glossing all the skirting boards and door frames. I am also making a new bath panel….funny story though, I measured it incorrectly, had a MDF cut at B&Q only to get it home to find it was 100mm short! Measure twice people!!

Don’t think you need to just as long as the battery isn’t dead and you are using a normal charger, not one with a boost function that might push it over 20 volts. That could damage the cars electronics.

Yeah, watched the same program. It was an eye opener for sure. They finished with the bloke you mentioned packing for rehab. Maybe he sorts it out maybe he doesn’t either way there are plenty who will continue to do this. They are are total scum, that is for sure.

Hope hoops, Flows or Arch EX. Yes to goop, it will help seal and also plug punctures. You can run without as other have said but I have been glad of it when I get a puncture.

From looking at your requirements you are easily going to get decent laptop for that money.

CPU wise try and find an i5. It will probably come with Win 8 and a lot of laptops will now have touch screens. Not sure if that will come in your budget. Also I don’t know if you will get 1080p.

I think the best way to do it is spend time reading reviews and finding out what you can get for that money.

But a quick look around and found these for a start.

Toshiba Satellite Pro C50-A-137 Intel Core i5-3230M

    SONY Vaio Fit 15 E SVF1521A1EW.CEK 15” Laptop

Edit: Google laptops under 500. Shed loads of reviews and comparisons to give you info.

I have an Acer Aspire. Good build quality, looks nice and does what I need. Only i3 so does struggle with photoshop a bit

Yep, had the same thing too. Think I was on NN/RR combo at the time. I didn’t touch the brakes, just turned the handlebars slightly and my bike flew off to one side from underneath me! Probably going too fast and didn’t realise just how slippy they get.

£1200 fine or 12 days in jail. Had to pay the fine immediately, was gutted.

Wow! With this in mind I would be paying the Euro’s.
