Tazzy, i have started doing the same thing on road sections, its pretty effective, a la time trial position. 8)

True about the short reach, i have just about got used to it now, playing with the angle of the loop bar is a good idea, made a big difference when i found the sweet spot for me, it has made out of the saddle climbs easier on it too. Has anyone else found Jones’ dont respond well to hard efforts ( sprinting )? I am finding i go faster when i relax my whole body on the bike and ease the pedals around.

Steel spaceframe here, i am loving it so far, but then i have never got on with any of the full sussers i have tried, it is a very stiff and rigid bike though, you will feel all the bumps, rocks and roots on your rides, picking a good line is essential. My setup is 2.35 N’Nick / flow rim on the rear & knard & rabbit hole front.

I have a steel Jones spacframe, i have never tried a KM though so can’t comment on that bike. The Jones was a big decision for me because of the cost, however i am very glad i took the gamble and got one, i really dont regret paying out for it. The Jones feels like no other bike i have ever ridden. I would say that if you prefer a rigid bike you will love it.

I am 42 and ride a Jones steel space frame. I have owned a couple of full sussers and tried a few others too, i just prefer a rigid bike. My top tip though for all day comfort is wide rims, big tyres & and a well padded saddle, and forget that weight weenie rubbish too.

Using a 2.35 on the rear of my Jones, mounted on a flow rim, its ok in softish dirt but rubbish in mud and not very good on hardpack, the 2.35 feels better than the 2.25 imo. Its not the worst tyre out there though.

Only had it 2 weeks but already falling for it, way more capable than a rigid bike should be, if you like rigid bikes and are thinking about one of these, all i can say is…..Do it, do it, do it!!!

Thanks to Charlie for sorting it out for me.

We use Hicks as a cafe stop on longer rides, for example stating in Coal-Vile, ride out to Ticknall, do the longer route, 15 miles or so, then head towards Ashby, then Hicks, coffee, cake, then do a flying lap (or 2) then head back to Coal-vile, a lot of that route is off road, around 40 miles or so all in.

I have to say jones, it’s way better downhill and on technical stuff than my Solaris was, solaris felt faster though, and was way cheaper, i need to get rid of the Cotic if you fancy trying one cheap.

According to sträva i am averaging 4 rides and 67 miles a week, i have done 1971 miles this year so far, it’s best not to worry about it though, get out as often as is practical, think smiles not miles, have fun.

Niner air 9 scandium, amazing from the start and felt great even with heavy wheels and tyres on, was gutted when it broke, and when my girlfriends broke in the same place i decided not to have another niner, i replaced it with a solaris which despite being steel manages to feel loads harsher than the air9 but still more flexy and less responsive.

Santa cruz bullit: Never fell off a bike so much.

Yeti asr: Great to ride but wore out its bushings like crazy.

    GT Zaskar 96: dull.

Specialized allez road bike: So hard, it beat the crap out of me on every ride.

Cotic Solaris: Just not feeling the love. going on the bay very soon.

for blance: I loved my niner air9 scandium, shame it broke ( as did my girlfriends).

and in defence of brant: I had a scandal which was great, and an inbred 29er that was fab as a single speed but only ok geared, strange.

[quoteOn fast rocky stuff it realy does seem to be within 95% of a Rolling D with a 4″ tyre but so much better on the climbs.[/quote]

    Cool, getting excited now.

Rabbit hole and 29+ for my space frame when it comes, next week fingers crossed, Charlie the bike monger advised that over the fat front, so i am putting my faith in him.
Stu, how do you get them ‘toobless’ then? please share.
