Maybe we should all club together to buy it, just so we can figure out what the hell he’s done to it. 😀

I quiet like the it, but not with that Lauf fork on. If it was my money though….

…& spend the difference taking it some place nice and sunny to ride, seeing as it won’t stop raining around here.

Wow, a lot of you guys sound in a rough way, healing vibes all.

I’ve just turned 45, so far i’m not doing too bad, i suffer with my back off and on, but thats been the case since i was 18, i hurt it carrying a cast iron bath down some stairs. I get some problems with my feet sometimes which seems to be related to certain types of shoes, big or hard rides take a bit more recovery time, as does illness and some injuries. I feel a bit stiff first thing in the morning (not in a good way) but this soon passes. The old plumbing seems to be in full working order still. I don’t drink to get drunk anymore, i have never smoked, i have never played rugby or gone skiing, in my younger days i used to Kayak and rock climb and I’ve always liked walking, I’ve no idea if this as anything to do with my physical condition now though.

This is one of my local gravel routes, it’s a mix of b roads, gravel tracks and Sustrans paths, i live in a pretty flat area so no big climbs to speak of. I have ridden this route on MTB’s in the past but it seems less boring on the Vaya.

Anyone else like to share a route?

Yeah pretty content here, i have four bikes but two of them never get used so i might sell them and build something else, or not, maybe.
Not into cars so not going to spend any money there. I’m not into clothes / fashion so i only get new stuff when the stuff i have now wears out. I have a couple of computers, and unless they burst into flames or something there’s no need to replace them for the forseeable future.

Yeah the cost is a concern, i’m not mega rich so the steel spaceframe and front wheel were a big investment for me, now i have the thing though i consider it money well spent, i feel so happy when i ride it and i don’t think about what bike i want to try next like i used to. I will be keeping this one unless i find myself in a position to get the Ti one, and even then i would find it hard to sell this this one.

Steel Spaceframe or Diamond frame and truss fork, they are very versatile bikes, i love mine.

I always found it quite hard to picture in my mind the scale of these weapons, until i saw this image in a book i was reading.

    Proper scary.

I recommend watching a documentary called Countdown to Zero. It’s about terrorism and Nukes.

No Maserati here, we have a Citroen.
If i had that kind of money i wouldn’t waste it on a car.
And if i had to buy a car that cost that much i would get a Tesla.

First proper dirt ride after a lay off is always a bit dodgy if you ask me. I need at least 2 or 3 rides before i stop bodging my lines and dabbing everywhere. Why not try a couple of really short MTB rides and see how you feel after that.

Isn’t gravel biking for people who have finally realised that the area they live in is actually pish for mountain biking?.

Or in my case, only a few good trails and lots of mediocre ones, i take the MTB out to play on the good trails and use the Vaya on the smoother less exciting ones instead of road riding.

Just like ‘Mountain Biking’ was 25-30 years ago…

Yeah i guess so, but people were riding trails before mountain bikes came along.

There is nothing new going on here, people have been riding touring bikes on unsurfaced roads for years.

And even race bikes it would seem.

Some folk on various cycling forums seem to really have a bee in the bonnet over the whole gravel bike thing, i don’t really understand why.

    For road riding:
Wide, light and supple tyres (compass Barlow Pass). bliss.
Full length mudguards, why didn’t i do this years ago.

    For MTB:
    Big tyres & wide rims.
    1 x gearing.

    For all Cycling:
XXX Brooks Cambium Saddle XXX 😀 Lurvly.

My first road bike had 42 / 52 rings and a 12-23 cassette, now i live in Leicestershire so not a hilly place really, and found those gears fine, so you should be ok with a 42 ring and a mtb cassette at the back.

Just for the record though, i would rather keep the double and fit a closer ratio cassette.

walking, and lots of it. Evolutionarily speaking it’s what we are supposed to do with our bodies. The other stuff people have mentioned will work too but i find exercise regimes are hard to stick to for the rest of my life but walking is something we do anyway so you just need to make a small change in lifestyle and do a little more. Good luck.

The Jones one is getting my vote, Yeti second and Singular third, however, while not really a badge i kind of like the head tube picture that Elephant cycles uses.

You can just about make it out on this pic.

I have been making some of the recipes from this site…
    This Rawsome Vegan Life
I’m not cutting out meat and dairy, just cutting down on meat and dairy, so a few recipe options help with that.
Everything i have made from this site has tasted nice so far.

    NO

Because a war with the west is what isis wants to fulfil some prophecy about the end of the world.

If a crazy person in the street asked you for a fight would you say yes? Of course not, you walk away because they are crazy.

I haven’t tried a stooge so i can’t comment on that bike, i do own a Jones Spaceframe though and its the only bike I’ve had that i would not sell and if anything ever happens to it i will replace it immediately, take that for what its worth.

    [quoteHave your “**** you” money.

3 months salary in reserve, so if you don’t like it, you say “**** you” and leave.

    This ^^^

Although i would add that its best to stay civil, work your notice and leave on good terms, even if you hated the place.
I also like to have a letter of resignation typed out and ready to hand in so if things really get bad you can just sign and date it and hand it in (with a smile). It really helps you feel like you’re in control of your own life.

I would look for a steel frame, that said, my mate has a Raleigh cx bike in Alu and it rides very smoothly, plus you can get the while bike for £500. 😯

11-36t and 34ring on my Jones, its fine around my local area but it wore me down a lot faster when i rode in a hilly area like Wales or the Peaks. I did manage all the climbs i normally get up though, just be prepared to feel tired quicker. You would probably get used to that sized ring eventually, maybe?

I didn’t bother asking for one though seeing as all my home made catapults got confiscated.
