I wrecked a N-gear Jump Stop today, not sure how but guess a flying rock I had kicked up knocked it out of position & the chain did the rest. It was only 3 rides old. Now looking for a proper chain device 🙄

44:16 for me, on 23 or 25c tyres can't remember which. Commuting in Teesside, fairly flat but last half mile on way home is uphill 🙄
Going to fit bike comp next week to keep track of speed & distance. I think I'm doing about 18mph average, HTH.

Just bought a N-Gear jump stop but might just leave the bash for now, to see if I really need it. Found this one on CRC, think I quite like 😳

When would the 2011 5s be due out? I'd be wanting to get a 2010 before then as I dont like integrated headsets see 😕
Wouldn't want guides for a dropper either as I think remotes just complicate things and the beauty of the 5 is that its simple!
ISCG mounts might be nice tho…..

Stevede, from previous advice I've had on the 5 AM I've been told that the axle to crown length on the 36s Talas is the same as 140mm Pikes in the 130mm travel setting. Can anyone else confirm this?
Even if its not 10mm wouldn't make any real difference on normal trails would it!?

Mines in the post… in several pieces. Building a P7 as I go and should be finished by next week. Replacing a 456 Summer Season I couldn't get on with 🙄

I don't think I'll buy another uturn fork mind. Got the Pikes just set at 140 coz cant be bothered with the faff. Beauty of Talas though its just a click to adjust.

Nice one Drew, just the info I was after. 18" it is then…..
…..now what colour!? 😳 (ducks for cover)

Oxnop, I take yours was a 18" and why did you sell? The 36s come on the full bikes so will see how I find them then sell on if unhappy. Are the 2010 Rev Teams u-turn then?

Bolt through rear & stiffer bigger forks for downhills 😉

Thanks Coatesy, just needed a bit of reassurance I think. I'd be looking at getting the Talas upgrade on the 36s anyway so would be mostly running it at 130mm travel making the angles closer to standard.

I think you'd fly into Verona. Honeymooned in Limone in 2004 so minimal biking 🙁 Fantastic place though, very jealous.

At that price yes! Looks a bit like the Puky bike my girl has. She's just turned 4 and loves riding it to nursery so she can "downhill" on the way. She can now coast feet up for as long as she wants. Current record is about 150m 😀

I'm selling a pair of XT AM. 20mm front, wide rim, bomb proof. Used by a lot of the World Cup 4X racers due to strength and relatively low weight.

Used a head doctor for the 1st time last week. Came with the headset. Doesn't instill me with confidence but neither does a star nut. I always make sure the stem is doing the clamping/holding duties. Star nut (etc) is only there to load bearings really IMO.

Ah the On-One's ARE in stock, cheers.
Surly does look nice & neat, machined central about the carrier. Superstar is similar but looks like a thin cog welded to a spacer 😕

I've got a 456ss and know what you mean. Its great pointing down but the rest of the time can be a bit of a chore. Just bought a P7 but not sure if I'd sell the SS, on the right trail it can give a huge grin! 😀

Paul's cycles have a 2006/7 Faith for £350, if you can stretch that far for a new frame.

I'm about 5'10 and got the 16". Seems just right although seat is quite far back on rails, running 70mm stem.
I got mine on the Wed or thurs after ordering Friday I think.
Don't forget your seat clamp too.
Guess its an excuse to post this:

Not read though all 4 (!!) pages, but a head butt is one of the most effective ways of stopping an aggressor in a fight/flight situation (even better with a helmet) planting your hardest part of your body into their 2nd (ish!) most sensitive.
When he was in your face you did the right thing, if you'd fled then he could have smacked you!
Must be human survival instinct to question/agonise any conflict whether aggressor, victim, right or wrong 😕

Its probably just my riding thats wrong. The SS looks set up right as bikes go, albeit slack forks. Ive got to give it a few more rides out anyhow before I can make any decisions.

    See my confusion ? 😕
So I want to stop washing the front out suddenly (traction or something else?) and be able the lift the front easily. Achieveable?

I think shock technology has pretty much leveled the playing field between single and multi pivot bikes in the last couple of years.
Fair enough, each still has pros & cons, but since I've ridden a 5 for the last couple of years I now leave the back brake more off than on for descents = faster 😈

Cheers Nicky, I think I maybe try some higher rise bars then
Everything else is bang on and should be "right". Kenda stick-e front, 35 psi, 70mm stem (I think). Maybe I'm just riding beyond my skills or unlucky 🙄
The 456 SS begs to be railed through corners mind 😈

Lets be honest, the more spacers under the stem or higher bars, the less grip you'll have in cornering.

Higher bars would help in hoisting the bow, if we are to be honest.

    😆 Touche!
Hoisting the bow = lifting the front? 😕
So what benefit does rise have then, if any, apart from raising the bars? 😕 Why not use a load of spacers?
A couple of people I ride with have commented that I seem to ride with my weight over the bars. My mate (about the same size as me) tried the 456 tonight and said that he felt as if he was "over the front".
Now, over the last year, the 3 crashes I've had have been down to the front washing out. Coincidence?… or maybe I just need to learn how to ride a bike 😳

Well, its now got 71 watchers and has reached the reserve price already 😯
Elmo, 617 watchers is mad! I would have thought with that many at least 1 person would have got carried away and just kept bidding to the reserve 😕 Although, maybe thats just something I do 😳

We all know he deserves "BBC Sportsman of the Year" award but I guess it'll go to some over paid mainstream muppet 🙄
