Mine are Da Bomb Bazooka, got the coz they were in the CRC VIP sale for £25. Seemed rude not to and fitted them to an Alpine 160.
BTW I love the feel of my 710mm Vone bars on my geared HT.

I must look stupidly over stretched as I’m 5’9″ with rather short arms anyway 😳
Think I’ll cut to 760 & see how that goes.

The forks are very gold in the flesh, just disappointed that the 2012 shock didnt match them 🙄
Doesn’t matter really as its a bike & supposed to be ridden; not looked at. 1st ride tonight & its damn confidence inspiring on the downs = a lot faster. Just hope I dont crash at the higher speeds.

Plastic pedals 😯 ….. Shimano DX thankyou!

Forks are 2011 36 Floats Kashima coated, RP23 is 2012 Kashima which is darker 😕
The seat looks better in the flesh. I’ve always liked SDG Bel Air & the look of the brown Charge Spoon… now they do the Bel Air in brown leather effect, I think it looks quite cool, and it was the Fathers Day present that started the whole build 😀

Well I ordered the frame & finally built it up today.
Built with a fair bit of stuff from STW classifieds. Currently got 185mm front & rear discs, just waiting for a 203 rotor to swap on the front. 1st ride tomorrow night, can’t wait.

    What’s the verdict?

    Cheers,
    Sean

Just seen a video on youtube confirming the Kashima coating is darker for 2012 products. So much for me trying to get matching collar & cuffs! Touch OCD but its p*ssed me off a bit 👿

Bloody hard work to do the full red, make sure you’re fit!

Not convinced with multi compound tyres myself. If the tyre loses traction, due to the hard compound in middle, then the stickier compound on the edges is not always enough to save the fall.
Sticky compound on the front to prevent it washing out and a harder compound or lower profile on rear. If the rear skips out; its easier to correct or puts you on your arse rather than face!
I’m currently using a very worn 2.1 Nevegal Stick-E on the front & 2.35 Small Block 8 rear.

Another for not liking Marin & Whyte full sussers, the thought of not being able to get all the dirt out from under the rocker/swing-arm makes me BORRRK!(a touch of OCD coming out I think).
Also, some modern Pace frames look like they have bends in wrong places imo 😕

I think if I ask the shop to do it I’ll just give them one of the bolts and ask them to clean up the threads so it goes in ok. Then I’ll fit the guide myself.

    Thanks for the replys guys.

Thanks for the replys, think I’ll give 36/26 a try as can always swap round some of the rings I’ve left in garage if I can’t get on with it.

What type of science or engineering is tyre/pressure/width/size? Looks like there is a PhD project in there somewhere.

I wasn't happy with a Blue Groove DTC on the front. A better combo IMO was Nevegal Stick-E on the front & Nevegal DTC on the rear. All 2.35 fitted to an Orange 5. HTH

Sim, is the reviewed bike confirmed as the 2011 final version then?

ST5 then? Thats defo a trail bike but a bit too similar to the current 5 I reckon. They could be put all the recent developments we've seen into one bike possibly. Can't wait till next years bikes are revealed! 🙄

Same here, or at least when I get another 5 (probably 2011 model) I'll stick with it 😕
Anybody think there will be a shortage/long order time for the new 5? There seems to be plenty for sale 2nd hand at the mo.

    Have a look here: http://www.mtbe.co.uk
Most of the organised rides are in that area. Give us a shout if you get a group together & we can show you some gems 😉
What enduro was it btw, heard nothing?
