The 09 55 rc3’s do have problems, well mine did. The 2010 version which replaced them are in another league, very nice fork imho.
Wouldnt touch nothing from 08-09 especially from america

edit: apparantly the 55’s from 09 which were supposed to be corrected had a red paint dot on the lowers, mine had this dot but still had problems

If the top hats just fell out easy the bush is likely to be worn

The plastic extension tube from a vacuum cleaner is just the right size, place over steerer and tap with hammer until in place

Fairly easy, its normally the seal on the motion control cart head.
    plenty guides on internet- youtube

Most likely a failed seal on the moco causing the oil to fill the lowers

Do kielder black, then when you get onto the road at the end of the black follow the road until you see fireroad on the right heading up, go up here this will bring you to the red decent you miss doing the black.
head down this till the end.
We normally then drive to newcastleton and do that as its only 15 mile apart and easy enough doing them both.

Think he’s referring to the black rubbery stuff? if so self amalgamating tape from screwfix is supposed to be the same, no personal experience of it from screwfix tho

Think it can be done from the lowers, be sure to cycle the damper tho to remove any remaining oil in there.
edit: when i say lowers i mean from removing lowers and emptying from the stantion providing they are open bath?

Wont have problems with the ones in my link fitting, one size fits all, they are just a sleeve with discs attached then velcro wraps

These are very good, can use the one disc so they become less bulky.
    Give plenty support.

the seal is press fit no glue etc needed, could be the moco has dumped its oil into the lowers causing enough pressure to blow the seal?
If they are oem forks they might not have an oil seal below the sponge wiper

The hub giantgaunt is on about is not accesible with cone spanners afaik.
Mate had same prob with his not long ago and couldnt get into hub, its a bit like the pro 2 hub except the spacers dont appear to be held in with them metal clips.
He asked on here also and got no replies, just a reply from someone who was also struggling.
He took his to lbs in the end
