AW – Cotic do full builds starting at around £600, they also do the C2W scheme. I currently run 39/16 on a mixture of road and bridleway and spin out at similar speeds to you. I am about to try 39/14 with proper road tyres on, hopefully my knees will take it!

I currently run Advantage on the front and Ignitor on the rear, both 2.1. Seems to work well on wet rocky surfaces and also in the current drier conditions. The Ignitor is smaller than the ADvantage if that makes a difference, I am tempted to try an Advantage on the rear next for a bit more cushioning from the larger volume.

I did the same combination as toxicsoks a couple of months ago. Works well off road and very rarely spin out when on the road. Didn’t really take any getting used when going from a triple ring combination.

Not really, but it has done the same a couple of times. I put it down to the inner tube not seating completely. I guess it doesn’t take much for air to get underneath. In every case it has sealed properly after a couple of rides. I run at ~30psi. I think 40 is the max recommendation for tubeless

I’ve had the same problem, try going for a short ride, pump it up and then ride again. If there is enough sealant it should seal eventually. I think the riding circulates the sealant and gets it to the leaking areas.

The ones I got from CRC stated either front or rear. Shorter hose in the front. The rear pack will be okay for the front though, the fittings are the same, you will just need to shorten the hose more.

I put some 4 -bolt Shimano XT rings on a Truvative noir crankset so they will be.

Got a baby twin at Christmas and very impressed with it. It was a re-conditioned unit direct from gaggia Uk. If you look on their website there are some good deals.

Went round Marin today, a bit wet but no snow or ice. First time I’ve been and was impressed.

Suede pre-dated britpop by a good few years.

Suede’s eponymous (sp?) début released in 1993, blur’s ‘Modern Life is rubbish’ released 1993, Elastica’s Stutter single 1993. Hardly a good few years. By 1995 Britpop had run it’s course, to be replaced by the dadrock from the likes of kula-shaker & oasis

i don’t know, attention to detail these days

sock puppet – a good point well made.

Can’t beleive that Suede haven’t got a mention, surely one of the bands that influenced the whole Britpop scene, before it got b******dised by Oasis, OCS etc

I use Michelin cyclocross jet 28C on my rat which are good on and offroad and also quite light. Probably a be a bit narrow for really rocky stuff.

No, it should be the other way round M10 is bigger than M8. Difficult to be more specific without seeing the problem. Are you sure the holes are for the pivots?

Forks and frames can be different sizes. Usually forks are M8 and frames M10

PDA works okay for me with memory map, the software is good and its easy to transfer data to and from the PDA. They aren’t as rugged as dedicated units, so I wouldn’t attach to handlebars and battery life can be limited. But to track where you’ve been and check where you are they are good. I’ve looked at the satmap, but couldn’t justify the cost for the extra benefits.

I had the cane creek loose ball fitted to my roadrat and it is very cheap and flimsy looking, nothing like the S8 on my FS bike. Saying that it is smooth enough and has lasted so far. Given the choice again I would go for the Hope, or fit one myself – it isn’t difficult.

Yes, they are making the job redundant by outsourcing it.

Really like the ADvantage exception, 62a I think, on the front in all conditions, however previously I had a Conti Vapour so anything is an improvement from that. Its a decent size too.

Audi dealers try to screw customers at every opportunity. Told me I needed new wipers at every service and wanted £70 for them. Got some from the local car spares shop for £20 a week before the next service and still got told by Audi that I needed new wipers. I take it to an independent garage now.

I have used the Stans valves (from JRA) and had the same experience as DezB. Can’t really comment on the Joes valves.

If you have taken out the core you should be able to see right through the valve housing, if not it is blocked. I have poked these out with a drill bit or similar.

Valves can get clogged up with latex. Easy to remove the core an pick off the dried latex. Shouldn’t need to replace the valve

Had a Pro2/DT4.2 from Merlin which wasn’t quite true and the spokes loosened more than I would have expected in the first few rides, a bit disapointing considering their reputation. It has been fine snce then though.

I have found full length outers to be a great improvement for shifting performance, squirt GT85 up them occasionally to keep them smooth. I enlarged the cable stops with a dremmel cutting tool, but if you don’t want to do this there are guides that you can buy that attach to your existing cable stops or alternatively zip ties as you say.

If you have a PDA it is a cheap way to try GPS as you can get a bluetooth GPS for £25 and they are not too difficult to set up. They are good used in conjunction with MM for navigational purposes and you can plan routes and review rides on PC (speed, altitude etc). I would agree with comments about battery life and durability though, it is not something to attach to your bars.
